Usually Eric would just have sent his spirit crow to find Sarah, but bringing the bird into the building wasn't an option. It was perched on a nearby building, and not at all happy about being left out in the rain. That meant he'd have to do this the old fashioned way. That was fine.
He approached the desk and asked whether a girl matching Sarah's description had come in. No one seemed to remember seeing her, but that wasn't unusual. Librarians saw a lot of people, faces could blend together. He knew he couldn't really remember everyone he saw at the Blackout. He thanked the librarians, and then meandered a bit, thinking. Sarah had to have used a computer to post that message. Maybe he could pick something up if he could find the computer...
Or, he chided himself as he noticed the stairs, he could just start using his brain instead of relying on his powers. He took the stairs two at a time, and once he was upstairs it didn't take him long to find Sarah. He let the relief show on his face for a second as he approached the chair she'd fallen asleep in. She didn't look too bad, all things considered. He crouched down in front of the chair and gently shook one of her arms. "Sarah. Hey, Sarah. Time to get up."
Despite the situation, he was happy to see her. Even if she'd have been safer back home, a concept that was still really very alien to him.
