Who: Shay & Open Where: Out on the town What: Shay's playing hero When: Late night Nov 6th Warnings: Shay's laying the beatdown on a couple thugs.
Shay had taken to sleeping during the day and traveling at night, the same as when she'd made her first trip to the Smoke, the same as the Cutters did while looking for it now, just that change had been enough for her to feel more like herself again, sleeping on rooftops or high in trees in the park. She didn't have her sneak suit anymore, but well-worn jeans and a camouflage jacket worked just as well.
She was doing alright for herself, she hadn't resorted to stealing yet, even though she wasn't above it, since she was above the people here, but something in the back of her mind kept tugging at her that she had to protect these people, even if it was from themselves, she didn't want this world to turn out like hers.
There were other heroes in town now, there had been before she'd arrived, and the crime rate in Lawrence had probably plummeted, not that Shay had any way of knowing this. Nor did she care, she'd been watching this group for the past few days, some people would have seen their wayward children, some people would have seen irredeemable street hooligans, what Shay saw was a pack of petty Uglies looking for a fight, and she was going to give it to them. She didn't wear a mask, she didn't think she had to, her predatory-Pretty face was enough.
She watched them for a long moment, the same way they were watching the passers by, like a lion about to go in for the kill. She didn't let them get that far, sliding down the side of the building, fingers finding gaps between the brickwork to hold onto, the rubber soles of her grippy shoes helping with traction. She yanked the two on lookout back by their collars, clocking their heads together. She worked in veritable silence, leaving the first two where they'd fallen and taking on the two at the mouth of the alley, one of them saw her coming, but didn't have time to alert his companion and it was only after Shay caught his knife-hand and twisted, hearing bone snap that she remembered just how fragile these people were. She wanted to scare them, but she didn't want to kill them. She just smiled, all teeth as she added them to the heap.
Most major cities had a call in line for anonymous tips, some even had a text-in line, which was what Shay used, perching herself on the roof overhead to wait until the boys in blue showed up to clean up.
