Who: Kate and Adam
What: Fights over, Adam's mind is back, time to check up on Kate who lost the fight on Adam going to Glory
When: Night, after the fight
Where: Kate's apartment
Rating: PG maybe, Kate swears
Status: Incomplete

When she had learned that Adam was going to try to go to Glory, Kate had immediately set her mind to distracting him. Something called to him thought. What it was, she didn't know. As much as she tried to distract him, Kate soon found herself in a fight against Adam, and she could only put a half effort into it. She couldn't bring herself to really fight him, not when he was like this. Silly Kate, should have known better. Her father would have given her a lecture about that one. But it was Adam, she just...couldn't.

As a result, the werewolf had lost the fight to the half-demon, and while Adam was off to find the god, Kate was smack on her living room floor, trying to ignore the searing pain in her arms. There were a few hand-print shaped burns on her arms, some worse than other, but nothing too horrible that she had to go to the hospital. And good thing to, she couldn't explain her weird blood or rapid healing either.

Her mother had told her once about the time she had met Adam, and how she had got too close to him when he was mad. She'd been burned. Though Kate, as far as she could remember, had never been burned by Adam before, now understood the warning her mother had given her, just in case.

Some point after the fight, hours later maybe, Kate had made her way to her kitchen, stepping over a few pieces of shattered glass and dishes, to the first aid kit she kept ontop of the fridge. After she managed to get down, she pulled out the dry bandages, wincing as she did so. Wrapping these was going to be a bitch with both arms burned. Gritting her teeth, she pulled out the white fabric, and started on her left arm.

He really was disappointed that Glory was gone. Not in the 'must obey the brainsucking master' kind of way, but the 'gee I wish I'd had a chance to plant my foot up her ass' kind of way. She'd taken his damn mind and left him a gibbering wreck who was about as competent as an infant at taking care of himself and that pissed him off unbelievably. Once he got over that, he'd be thanking the people who helped bring him, and the others, back.

But first, he had something a hell of a lot more important to do. As soon as he'd gotten loose from the pipe entanglement, he was running for the last place he'd been before answering Glory's call. He remembered the fighting, the sheer need to answer and nothing standing in his path. Unfortunately, that had been Kate. He couldn't remember what state he'd left her in and that terrified him. If she was badly hurt, he was never going to forgive himself. Even if she could handle herself, it was uncle duty to protect her.

The moment he arrived back at the apartment, he knew even if she wasn't badly hurt, he was going to be groveling until he'd gone gray. And while that wasn't as long a time for werewolves, it still was a long time for a half-demon. He pounded on the door, almost keeping time with his heart in his chest. "Kat?" he called between pants. "You in there?"

She'd managed one section of her arm when she heard a pounding on her door, causing her to jump slightly. Peering around the corner of her kitchen to look toward her door, she waited, and then soon heard her name via a familiar voice. "Adam?" she replied, lifting herself out of her seated position on the floor with her legs.

It sounded like Adam, and when she got a little closer to the door, his scent confirmed it. And it also sounded like he had just completed an actual sentence that didn't have her guessing its actual meaning. Kate moved cautiously toward the door. Though her senses were telling her that it was in fact Adam, with this place, you could never be too careful.

She hadn't locked the door after Adam left, so she simply pulled it open, and found herself staring at him, slightly unsure. "Are you in there?" she through his question back at him, changing the meaning behind it. Even if he wasn't, she'd probably still let him back in. But even as she asked, she could see it. See him. The awareness on his face. He was back.

Adam knocked again, turning his head to see if he could pick up any noise from inside. If she didn't answer, the door might have to become a casulty of the night. Which, if she wasn't in there, was going to look really good on top of the problems he'd already caused for the night. Instead, logic prevailed and he reached for the doorknob, hoping it was unlocked.

The moment he grabbed the doorknob, it swung open, and he found himself staring at the exact person he had been looking for. Adam's face fell as he took in the pattern of burns and the white bandages. He had done that to her. "Kate, I am so, so sorry," he said. "I..." He trailed off, at a loss for words. Hadn't meant to? Big time, but with the crazy, it looked like want and action took two different trains.

He sighed and nodded. "I'm in there. Maybe a little less than before all this crap but I'm in there." He ran a hand through his hair. He took a step towards her, arms raising as if he was about to hug her, but the bandages made him hesitate. He really didn't need to be hurting her more. "Thank you."

Looking down at her arms, blinked a few times, he really was upset. She wasn't mad, at all. It sort of wasn't his fault, the hell god had sucked his mind, she was well aware that the chances of this happening when he was in his own mind were a lot less. Stepping aside, she let him in, so she could close the door behind her.

"It's okay." she quickly, shaking her head. "I'd hug you, I would, but it kind of hurts to move my arms." she'd be okay in a few days, but for now arm movement was going to be limited.

He was back, so that meant that it was over, right? The right? And if he was here, and seeming mostly okay, the hell god had to be dead. "So it's over?" she asked carefully, because the world didn't appear to be ending, so that had to mean something. "Hell god is gone?" they had said people would get their minds back after the God was dead, and here Adam was. But she wasn't willing to assume anything anymore.

He dropped his arms and stepped inside the apartment, taking in the state of it. "That's all right. I owe you a big hug when you're up to it," he said, finally managing to find a smile in the situation. "You put up with my crazy ass for a couple of days. That's one of those Herculean feats people are always talking about."

Adam remembered parts of it, saying things that made absolutely no sense to anyone but his own crazy logic. (And quoting Wizard of Oz? Trying to, at least. Major loss of cool points on that one.) That had to be a constant headache. "She's gone. At least, I assume that's what my return to sanity means. I didn't actually get to see her get taken down." He scowled. "Would have liked to, though."

He lifted his hands, motioning to her apartment. "If you give me a broom, I can start doing some penance."

She wasn't sure she wanted to be compared to Herc, but she got the idea. It hadn't been that difficult, not until right up until the end when he had insisted on going to the god and Kate had ended up on the ground, staring at the ceiling and contemplating how she had got there in the first place.

He didn't see her get taken down. Confused, she made a move to run a hand through her, and ended up wincing instead, dropping her arms again. "The fights not over?" did he just leave after her got his head back? Part of her was happy, at least, that he had remembered and came back to check on her, the other half wanted to flick him in the head and say he should have staid until the bitch was dead.

"It's in the closet in the kitchen." she said, nodding toward the room. "But could you possibly give me a hand with this first?" she asked, moving her half bandaged arms slightly. It hurt, not too badly, but it would be limited movement for at least a day, she'd be fine by the weekend, she was sure.

"Actually, I'm pretty positive the fight's over. People seemed way too relieved for her to still be wobbling around on her skanky heels," he said, making no effort to keep his anger at the goddess from creeping into his voice. "Staying around to give her a burn she wouldn't soon forget would have been a second priority." The first being to check on her. "May she rest in pieces." He wasn't sure how that had how she'd ended her time here but it fit.

Adam nodded quickly. "Absolutely. I'm a pro with bandages." For the first time, the irony of the situation struck him. His first meeting with Elena, he'd accidentally burned her and then spent the next couple of days apologizing for it. Now here he was, certain he'd spend the next couple of days apologizing to Kate. In his right mind or not, he still felt guilty about it.

"You know, even better, I'll make you a big ass breakfast in the morning. Whatever you want. I'm a great cook. Just don't tell anyone because then they might, you know, make me cook."

Kate arched an eyebrow, as if not believing half of his sentence. "She fought in heals?" what was it with girls? She was half thinking she it was only her mother and herself that had any common sense. Sneakers. Comfortable sneakers that allowed you to move were the way to go. Clearly everyone else was insane.

"Thanks." Bandages weren't hard, but it was easier when you were working on someone else, and had two hands to help you out. She'd learned from her parents how to treat all kinds of injuries, but doing it with one hand wasn't exactly a skill she had mastered. Help was welcomed. Heading back to the kitchen, she pointed to the bandage that slightly unraveled on the table. "Doing it with one hand was proving difficult."

He was going to make her a big ass breakfast? He felt bad, that was it. He felt bad and he was going to be sucking up until he felt like he'd paid her back, or at least until she was better. Honestly, she wasn't mad at him at all, but she didn't see the point or arguing with him. She'd be stupid to, actually, since he was offering her food. "I never say no to breakfast." she said simply. "But you don't have to start randomly doing things to make it up to me, Adam. I'm not mad."

"She did when we tangled. I thought about insulting her dress sense but I didn't want to end up in the middle of someone's living room. Can you imagine how awkward that would have been?" Humor was familiar territory and he welcomed the chance to head back that way. "She's a hell goddess. That says it all about her taste in warrior fashion."

He followed her into the kitchen, avoiding the broken glass of the unfortunate inanimate objects that had gotten in the way. "Yeah. When it comes to bandaging, two hands is a lot better than one. Not even band aids go on that easily." He picked up the bandage and gently took her arm.

"I know but I feel bad. It's one of those things where guilt rears its ugly head just because you did something, unable to control it or not. Breakfast is the least I can do." That and it sounded really good, so it was more like killing two birds with one stone.

As he wrapped the bandage around her arm, he smiled, a faint shade of red appearing. "I didn't get to see the hell bitch go down because I was tied to a house. By Supergirl. Who zombie me punched." Now that he'd made his apologies, he could find something in the situation to be amused with.

"Pretty awkward, especially if you were already drooling by then. I would have had to collect you out of an institution." Kate smirked, obviously amused by the whole thing now that he was alright. He was alright, right? "But you are okay, right?" she was still worried, really worried. She had no idea if this was going to affect him or if he could just shrug it off.

She bit her lip when she handed over her arm, and then shook it off, blocking the pain. "Can I have a pony?" she asked, looking up at him and making her eyes go large. She kept the face for a few seconds before it cracked back into a smile. Not that she'd want the pony. Wolves were better.

What to make of the fight, she didn't know. Tied to a house? By Supergirl? No one would ever believe her if she told them. Back home, anyway. "What did you do to piss off Miss America?" she asked, tilting her head, not bothering to hold back her laughter.

"I can only imagine. Which one are you here to bail out again? Oh, just the drooling blond," Adam said, switching from a lower register for the police officer to a higher one for his mimicry of Kate. He nodded. "Yeah, I think I'm going to be all right. Once I realize that my sanity is back in place permanently, I'll be back back one hundred percent." There might be lingering effects but those he could work through.

"A pony? Ok, see, that part where I said I'd do anything? I'm amending that. I'll do anything that's within my budget," he laughed. "Aww, little Kat wants a pony. I could get you a little one named Bubbles. It would be perfect for you," he joked. He stopped bandaging for a second to point at her. "Don't give me that look. I'm nearly immune."

He shook his head, still grinning. "When I was still sanity sapped, us zombies were trying to defend against the good guys. So we just started fighting anything that came close and I happened to be the lucky one that punched her. Not that it did much."
