"They hounded me anyway," Gwen retorted. "I had the psychics going through my head a few times trying to find out where you were, I had to deal with freaking Lilah and her bitch attitude and Nathan was still convinced I'd found some way to hide from the psychics so kept on at me for months. And then, then," her voice rose slightly, angrily. "Then I find out, through the office gossip that you'd been back in town but had been sent to one of the hell dimensions." She shook her head bitterly. "I spent years not knowing if you were alive or dead and found out too late where you were, when there wasn't a damn thing I could do to help you. God."
She turned away, frustrated, before a nearby street lamp flared for a moment. Gwen had to breathe deeply a couple of times to get her emotions, and her powers, back under control.
"You could do better than her," she muttered. She wanted to roll her eyes and comment how of course Lindsey would be better in bed, but given that her experience consisted of two kisses and one screw, she couldn't exactly talk.
"I missed you, you know that?" She looked up at him angrily before turning away again. "I fucking missed you."
