Pike told her that morning after the bus station, he would never judge her. There wasn't really a statute of limitations on that one. Even if he hadn't said that, did he think she was a freak? No. "Well, nothing happened." He smiled a little. "And you took precautions to make sure nothing would. You did a very good thing there, Faith." She had developed this habit recently of making him proud of her. He was pretty okay with this habit. He didn't flat-out say it, but it was pretty evident in the beaming smile he gave her.
She could have just ignored it and gone ahead with the fight, not caring. Or just banked on it not happening. Instead, she'd done the opposite and risked telling someone something she clearly wasn't fond of telling anyone. As far as he was concerned, that was a victory right there.
