As the 2005 New Year approaches, the Wizarding World prepares to celebrate seven years of peace. But despite the pretty words put out by the Ministry and the songs and the memorials commemorating the Battle of Hogwarts and the end of Voldemort, all has not been peaceful. Surviving Death Eaters have plagued the country, a reorganization of the Ministry has left everyone feeling unsure of how to proceed, and a bull economy and international conflicts have left everyone feeling a little burned. The muggle government is getting harder and harder to keep separated from the Ministry of Magic, surveillance technology is catching up to wizards left and right, and the wisdom of the Statute of Secrecy is being called to question for the first time in centuries.
To make matters worse, there's a new player on the field. Former and suspected Death Eaters are showing up brutally murdered and no one knows why. Suspicions are running high as people remember the terror of Voldemort's war, but at least innocent people aren't being targeted. Yet.
Still, in the midst of all this, there are people just trying to get by. To live and laugh and love with their friends and family. No period can be perfectly peaceful and one must make the most of what quiet time they have. Especially those who realize their 'quiet time' is rapidly coming to an end.
The 8th Floor is a DH-compliant, post-war game that aims to take a look at the interplay between the magical and muggle worlds and the myriad of problems something like the Statute of Secrecy could cause. We plan to meld plot, politics, and social aspects into an intense gaming experience.
