“Thus passes the glory of the world.” Perhaps true for some, the ancient denizens of Atlantis nearly nine-thousand years before present needed not worry about any kind of decay. Their youth, their most worldly of possessions was preserved, maintained by “The Gift” – something similar to a potion encompassing Eden, sent by their ‘true God’ to maintain their perfect society, and by extension themselves, in nigh-immortality.
Atlanteans described themselves as the perfect society, God’s chosen people – the evidence was in the elixir that preserved their vanity – the Gift. Such vanity inevitably bred contempt for the giver of the Gift, and so this God was forced to send a messenger, a prophet, to his chosen people in order to show them the error in their ways and the path to rectify them. Sides were set, groups wanting the gift only for themselves were set against a small group who wished to offer it to others – under the Prophet’s guidance.
As with any valuable resource, it was only to be regulated by the immortal power-brokers in Atlantis, and this messenger, like many to come in future history, was executed for his ‘crimes’.
Atlantis would sink forever into the blue depths the very night of the Prophet’s execution.
Nothing, however, is forever… and the Prophet’s last instructions have been carried out through Earth’s history – to find those worthy of the Gift throughout history, to raise Atlantis from its barnacled shackles to prominence. These characters have ranged throughout the long timeline of history. Those of undiminished character, those whose very will defined history, or whose traits could contribute to the vision of the Prophet – the resurrection of the dead, legendary civilization called Atlantis.
