For the past 40 years, vampires have been in control of humans. They came in numbers no one, even the top hunting organizations, could have anticipated or prepared to face. With overwhelming force they enslaved the human race, instituting systems which heavily favored the conquerors and made the conquered into little more than pets, food, and laborers. By 2015, most of these humans, commonly considered "slaves," can't remember a world without vampire rule, and that's just the way the bloodsuckers want it.
