Imagine coming home to find your wife in the arms of another man. Now take that feeling and add the horror of discovering she's covered in blood, that there are puncture wounds on her neck and that the man isn't kissing her like you'd first thought, he's actually killing her. Picture the scene: a woman lets her two children play in the woods the same way she always does in the time between dinner and bed. Throw in the shadow of a full moon and the cry of a wolf. Add to that the cries of the mother when she comes across her two children... or rather, what's left of them. Remember Little Red Riding Hood and the Lumberjack? Well what if grandma wasn't a wolf in disguise, what if she was the wolf? Hunters aren't born like Slayers and they aren't moulded from a legacy like Watchers. Hunters are created out of pain and grief and loss.

It has been one year since the defeat of Corypheus and two years since the Breach destroyed the Divine Conclave at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. Made up of allies from around the known world and strengthened by alliances forged just as far, the Inquisition still remains a powerful force of good in Thedas. Inquisitor Trevelyan has successfully routed the Red Templars, closed the majority of the Fade Rifts, and helped reforge the Chantry all the while keeping the peace between nations. He has helped the people of Thedas, both great and small, and they will not soon forget the debt owed to the Inquisition.

Recently, rumors of the Inquisitor's disappearance have begun to leak out of Skyhold. Left without their leader and the Herald of Andraste as a public figurehead, the Inquisition must do everything it can to resist dissolving into irrelevance. The organization is not without its enemies and the scent of blood in the water will not go unnoticed for long.
