The year is 2011. It has been six years since the governments of the world admitted to the existence of the Augmented-- a new sub-species of humans with superhuman abilities, caused by genetic mutations. The source of these 'Augmentations', as the people have termed them, has yet to be discovered (or, as the more cynical will say, 'admitted to') by any government or agency involved. And yes, for better or worse, multiple governments and agencies have decided to, or been forced into, involving themselves.

As with any great social debate, the Augmented 'Issue' has reached the international stage. The usual powers have drawn the expected lines; from the more permissive countries passing Civil Rights legislation, to the more traditional passing "human rights" laws to protect real humans from the 'creatures' and 'freaks' that science has supposedly inflicted on Mankind. America, with its moderate stance and decided lack of action, has received the limelight once again on the eve of multiple high-profile bills and laws being slated to roll through Congress. Issues concerning identification and registration of the Augmented, civil rights concerns, even the patent for a cure, are all slowly inching their way through the American bureaucratic machine.

All the while, the two 'non-political' factions, led by the Augmented themselves, are already in the midst of cautiously (or, in some cases, anxiously) preparing for the war to come. Because no matter the decisions, there will be fallout. And no one, human or Augmented, will be left unaffected.

[info]augmented is an original character (OC) superpowers game in the vein of the X-Men, Watchmen, and other politically-driven superhero/mutant franchises. Both human and Augmented characters are welcome and encouraged to take part in the war (metaphorical and literal) over the question of what, exactly, it is to be (super)human.

It's 1981. Voldemort is on the rise. Death Eaters roam free. Hundreds have died or disappeared. As each day passes, the resistance grows weaker. Voldemort seems to be invincible and all hope seems lost, that is until a Prophecy is made; a child with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies to those who have thrice defied him and with a power that the Dark Lord will not understand. This child will bring an end to Voldemort's reign. And so the Dark Lord set out to kill this child before he could grow into a threat.

We all know the story, little Harry Potter is that child, his parent's die to protect him, the Dark Lord falls, Sirius Black is sent to prison, The Longbottoms are tortured to insanity, dozens more die, and the survivors are left broken.

But let's not get further into that, because we all know that story. Because, what if the story had a different outcome? What if you had a chance to re-write canon? Decide who lives? Who dies? Who wins the war?

What if you could re-write history?

Here is your chance!

Crescendo is an AU Marauders Era RPG taking place in 1981, when the war is in full swing. Through your actions, the story will slowly unravel into something new and exciting, or still have the same outcome. The ending is unknown, but the journey to discovering it will be a good one.

The Crescent City Institute of Magic is one of the best schools for Witchcraft and Wizardry in the United States. Located in the culturally rich city of New Orleans, it has had its fair share of tragedy for such a praised and respected school. First was hurricane Katrina, which rocked New Orleans to its core, and the death of the headmaster as he helped the students evacuate.

This past school year has proved itself to be dramatic, interesting, and terrifying. Like any high school, CCI has had its fair share of petty drama caused by students along with the ups and downs of boarding school life. But there are other, darker, things to worry about.

Students have gone missing and creatures never known before have been spotted and attacked students. There are activists out in the streets of New Orleans trying to alert Muggles to the presence of evil Witches and Wizards. There is also a strange epidemic of missing socks.

This school year is almost finished, but this is only just the beginning.

There are things that lie well beyond your realm of explanation and understanding, and quite frankly, they always will. For they have been present in this world, for longer than your earliest ancestors."

With those words, centuries of careful concealment have been unraveled. The underground world of the supernaturals has been brought to light, and very much against their will. The year is 2056, the place is Amsterdam. The capital, and largest city in the Netherlands has become the unofficial home of the Supernatural world. Not only is the local government controlled by wealthy non-humans, but it also happens to be a willing host to those humans who do not shy away from the wicked, but instead embrace it. This harmonic unison is shaken when a demon named Pruflas takes it upon himself to expose the entire world to their kind, simply to combat his own boredom. Residence in Amsterdam steadily find themselves under the judgmental eyes of the world, as well as the terrorism some people are willing to enact, in a desperate attempt to protect the human population from these monsters. The world has come to a precipice, either they will be accepted, destroyed, or they will take the throne, and rule over those below them. Some want peace, others war, and then there are those who have yet to take a stand. Either way, no one will be left unaffected.

What will they do? Will they burrow deeper into the shadows, in hopes of keeping themselves hidden from the masses of humans who don't understand them, and who don't want them there? Or will courage flourish, and will they show themselves to the world, and insist on living side by side with their sometimes prey? What will they do? What would you do?

We accept, and are looking for a wide range of supernatural beings. Particularly, humans and demons are wanted at this time. Old and new characters alike are welcome. Have an older character you're itching to play again, and want to hash out? Bring them to us. Or maybe you're not sure what, or who you want to play, or you don't want to come into a game with no ties. There are numerous wanted characters, check the page for a bit of muse like inspiration.

New York City has always had a history of crime, in both the Muggle and Wizarding Worlds. But the criminals have one obstacle in their way. The Aurors. The Division in New York is known for being the elite, and best trained in the country.

The years is 2011 and crime is on the rise. Those still supporting the dark arts for the past in Europe retreated across the ocean. The United States is the land of opportunity. But crime is motivated less by blood purity, now it's about money and power.

The Aurors follows the lives of those in the Auror Division and those who work in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in New York.
