Welcome to Unfinished Tales, the stories of the fourth age of Men. The shadow of Sauron has fallen, and the peoples of Middle-Earth pick up the pieces. An unknown darkness rises in the East and to combat this darkness the Halls of Mandos have opened letting out heroes with no memory of evil times. The elves who were to depart into the West postpone their journeys to help the Men who struggle with long-sleeping evils. This is the day to shine a light into the encroaching darkness - and age for strength and for glory. Will you not rise to determine the fate of Middle-Earth?

Unfinished Tales is a Tolkien-based game set after the War of the Ring. We aim to further the tales at the end of The Return of the King as well as in the Fourth Age through the use of journals and AOL instant messenger chat. The quest for excellent roleplaying and a friendly community in the Tolkien fandom is one that never ends.

Unfinished Tales seeks to gather the excellent roleplayers of the internet realm and gather them in a friendly, diplomatic environment where they can explore characters that Tolkien created. There are many stories Unfinished by Tolkien and at Unfinished Tales we seek to explore perhaps some of the histories behind the songs that might have risen in heraldry of glory.

 You awaken in a room that is devoid of decorations. You are lying on a small cot, a table beside you. Upon the table is a device, similar to that of a PDA. Closer inspection reveals your name inscribed upon the back below an insignia the likes of which you have never seen.

The device is on. On the screen is a note, written in your native tongue. Once the letter is finished, it disappears and in its place is a map leading you to your assigned housing. The door to the room opens at this time and a computerized voice tells you to exit. The corridor is long and narrow. It deposits you out onto an unfamiliar street. The city is large, the architecture foreign. The door behind you closes and you are left alone.

Feel free to explore. You cannot leave the city but all of your needs will be met. Anything you can want, within reason, can be found here. The locals are mostly friendly and compassionate. Their duty is to make your stay here a comfortable one. After all, you are their guest. You are their responsibility.

You are now a member of Project Papillon.

For as long as anyone can remember, the City has always been one of the largest metropolitan centers in the world. It has had its share of glory and decline, but none so great as the age in which Oz Corp was first founded and what followed after. Michael Ozma was no man of magic, but he might as well have been for the technological wonders he brought to the people of the City. He invented a software interface so advanced it seemed uncrackable and reshaped the corporate world in the City. Even thirty-six years after his death, his revolutionary ideas are still inspiring work on Oz Corps newest water-powered engine.

Now, Ozma's three surviving daughters rule over this once great Metropolis, and the Gilded Age is long past. OzCorp has become corrupt, and the City has fallen from it's glory days. Crime and drugs now rule the streets, though some aristocrats still live above it all.

Inspired by folk-lore and fairy-tales, Not So Far Away is a unique Role-Playing World that incorporates characters from fairytale, folklore, and mythology from around the world and brings them into this ever-expanding universe. The only rule is that every character represents an arch-type from another story, whether that be Prince Charming or the infamous Mr Toad. Having trouble conceiving a character of your own? We have a long list of 'pre-made' character concepts that will play an important role to the overall plot of our story. Just remember, that everyone has a tale to tell, and every tale has it's own heroes and villains.

Since the beginning of time the creatures of magic have been awed, wanted, and hunted down. Religions fade and fall. Fears grow and abate. The beings of this world change, grow, and they adapt.

Lost in the world grander than its dreams, a small town beckons you. Its name is Crystal Falls, nestled in the middle of one of the largest lakes of the south the only way in is through boat or flight. There are others here like you. They live normal lives, adapting to their ways as you have had to do to survive with your freedom. You wonder how many of them know. You wonder just how long you all have until the fear grows, questions go unanswered, and the hunts begin. You wonder if the humans will be able to stay, as some wish to keep the island for the mythical creatures only.

For now, this town is safe, a haven for the mystical creatures of lore. They welcome you with open arms. Most are friendly like no other place in the world. More are coming, drawn to the power already here in this enchanted land, and by the powers of the ones long settled here. The promise of protection, friendship, family, normalcy, whatever it is you want out of your life is here and now. How long will it last? Who can you trust?

A day in the life of a Genkan Gakuen student:
7AM: woke up; resisted urge to throw pillow at roommate for snoring
8AM: breakfast in cafeteria; managed to grab last anpan
8:30AM: Potions class; made Draught of Living Death (mine was a little weak but at least I didn't blow up a cauldron)
10AM: Care of Magical Creatures class; 2 rolls of parchment on the natural habitats of tanukis due next Friday
11:30AM: lunch - curry udon today, yum!
12:15PM: newspaper club meeting; finished layout for next month's edition
3:30PM: Quidditch practice (note to self: need new gloves)
7PM: Astronomy study group in common room
