Inclimate Weather Walking Options

So, this time of year and in the winter time it is not easy to get out in nature for a nice relaxing and fat burning walk. What to do? Skip walking? Well, you could, but then you’d be missing out on the many benefits of walking for exercise. So, you really don’t want to totally skip walking, right? I hope not. *grin*

How do you walk when the gas prices have gotten higher and higher the weather this time of year is so hot (and you know it’ll be too cold in a few months)? Here is a nice solution. The local library has several good DVDs on walking for exercise and you can even sometimes find some at a local dollar store. Some of the DVDs at the library are pretty outdated. Now since the 70’s and 80’s a lot has been learned on exercise as a whole so be careful about getting a workout DVD that is too outdated. Try to find some as current as possible. I found an 80’s one that isn’t bad and I also found a later version of the same workout. You shouldn’t have too much trouble if you go to a store. A local Wal-Mart or Target would be great resources or you can possibly rent from Blockbuster too. You’d spend more however if your local library is too far or they have a crappy selection, please consider purchasing some walking for fitness DVDs. You could connect with your normal walking group and have an indoor fitness day (if someone has the space) or you can trade and swap.

Please don’t forget that walking at home is easy, doesn’t take a lot of space and there are a lot of types of workouts for walkers. Weight Watchers has the best one I’ve come across so far. Most of the home ones include ways to tone your arms and legs. Now, if I can get fat burning and toning in the same workout, I’m one happy camper!

Keep walking!
