RP: Housewarming

Finally being able to move into the new house after months of seeing the progress as it was built and slowly all came together was terribly exciting, and Genevieve couldn't help feeling like this was just the start of the rest of their lives together. She and Cooper were married, not even a year yet that they'd found their way back together again, but it felt so right, and she couldn't be happier to be sharing it with their family and friends.

The house was open to everyone on the first floor and porch, though the second floor where the bedrooms and larger media room were located was off limits, and charms had been put in place to keep their guests from exploring where they weren't allowed. Mum had taken one of the bedrooms and Addi another when they'd come in on the train last night, her sister still unable to travel by magical means, and so the charms would not prevent them from going upstairs if they needed to.

Food and drinks of a large variety had been provided, scattered around in strategic places considering all the pregnant women in their circle of family and friends, mostly finger-foods to start, though there would be more substantial, meal-style food later in the evening.

They had been a little late, but not terribly so. The children had leapt into the fray with the others around. Tsveta was one of the eldest, about to enter Hogwarts this year, and tended to be something of a leader and caretaker, something the man took a great deal of pride in seeing. Misha, being almost the age of one of Quintella's brood, seemed to be instantly friendly there each time the sets interacted. Yes, he was proud of his children.

Now that he'd gotten himself and Melinda drinks, he started circulating a bit, not just sticking to team membrs but going around to others as well.

She'd volunteered her kitchen savvy self to help with the food and drinks. It was her preferred location for this sort of thing, especially since she wasn't the hostess and so not expected to be front and center. The children were happily occupied and she was certain that Lancelot was off somewhere having a good time talking and laughing.

But she did make some appearances around properly, and to peek and make sure everything was readily available for everyone. She'd reminded the kids that upstairs was off limits, even though they normally would have had almost the run of Auntie Gen's house. Auri adored the whole family like they were family and Quin always encouraged it, but they had to obey the rules when other people weren't as familiar with the family.

Nancy was mostly enjoying talking to other adults for a change, though she kept a benevolent eye on the children.

Coop & Addi

Cooper was thrilled that they were opening their home up to their closest friends and family. While he had been nervous about Addi taking the train to come, he was glad she had made her way out. Seeing her in that bed had been killing him, worrying constantly about if she and the little Peanut were going to be okay. It felt right seeing Addi seated there on the sofa, laughing and enjoying herself.

He excused himself from where he'd been chatting with Mabel and made his way over to the sofa. He fell gracelessly on the couch, just far enough away from Addi so that he didn't knock into her or move her much. He chuckled as he settled, nudging his elbow against hers. "Sorry, didn't you see there," he teased, that smile large and ridiculous.

"Are you two enjoying ourselves?" he asked. "Do you love the house? How much of it have you been able to see?" he sounded just mildly suspicious with the last question, he had a feeling she had only seen the door when she came through, and the living room. He was already formulating a plan to carrying her around to show her all of it, though maybe once everyone had gone home so that he didn't embarrass her too much.

When Coop unceremoniously flopped down next to her, interrupting her conversation, Adelaide let out an indignant squeak and then apologized as one of the other Chasers for the Magpies just laughed and wandered off. "Rude!" she accused, flinging a hand out the slap his shoulder with the back of her hand, though not hard enough for him to likely feel it.

Still, she couldn't help smiling warmly at him. What could she say? She was a sucker for her Big Brother.

At his questions, though, she snorted a soft laugh and shook her head. "Mon dieu, do you need your head checked again? Did you already forget that mum and I got in last night and you and Vieve already gave us the grand tour?" she asked, teasing lightly. She wouldn't be surprised in the least if he was pretending to have forgotten as an excuse to show it all off again. She knew how proud and excited he was about his and Vieve's new home, but that was taking it just a little overboard, in her opinion.

The "slap" just made him laugh a bit harder, those hazel eyes lighting up. He loved this sort of thing, knowing that he really had annoyed her just a smidge, and instead of starting some fight with him about he was a rude asshole, she played along with him. "Always!" he cried happily.

"I don't know about the grand tour," he teased. "I haven't shown you my secret hiding spot." There wasn't one, but he still liked the idea of showing her around, again. "Maybe one too many drinks though," he admitted, giving a rather useless shrug of those large shoulders. "You didn't tell me your favorite part!"

Addi scoffed softly at his continued teasing, though she didn't argue. She knew all too well that when Coop set his mind on something, he wasn't easily deterred. Dog with a bone and all that. "Hmm, I guess any secret hiding spot you've got, I'll be able to squeeze into even with her crowding things," she joked, wrinkling her nose and patting her protruding belly. She was being very careful not to say Peanut's name, as she hadn't decided when or how to announce Peanut's name.

"Now that I can believe," she said dryly, with perhaps a small hint of jealousy. Oh how she wished she could have a drink. But as selfish as she was, she wouldn't allow herself to be selfish in that way. Her daughter's life meant more to her than that. "I'm supposed to have a favorite?" she gasped playfully. "Definitely Vieve's bath, though. The tub in the master bath at the cottage is lovely, but the whole alcove and windows and all you guys have here is envy-worthy," she answered honestly, even a bit wistfully. She really missed long, hot baths.

"Are you calling me fat?" he asked, though his smile was still far too large. He knew that even with Addi so round and pregnant, he was still massive compared to her. Any spot he could slip his big frame into, would leave her more than enough room to be able to move around freely without feeling cramped. It would have been completely different though if it was Gen, her hiding spot would likely be small enough to make Addi feel cramped.

A hurt noise left him, likely just a touch too loud, when she said her favorite part was Gen's bath. "What?! Why isn't your favorite part my closet or something?" he asked, a snort of laughter leaving him. He really needed to cut himself off, he had definitely had a few drinks too many. "I thought it'd be where all her plants are, if I'm honest. The large..." He motioned with his hands up, mimicking the shape of the space he had made for Gen. "Thing, you know?"

"Of course I am. You should really lay off the ice cream," she retorted, playing it up as if she were being utterly serious. She couldn't hold back the grin for too long, though. Her brother-in-law was hardly fat, but he definitely wasn't a small man either. He was like a giant, cuddly bear, she thought.

"Your closet is boring," she answered dryly. Though honestly, his closet here was certainly more impressive than hers at the cottage. No matter, though, with the help of magic, her ample wardrobe was well stored. "Mmm, the atrium?" she offered when he seemed at a loss for finding the right word. "That's a close second," she conceded, smiling warmly. Her thumb wasn't near as green as Vieve's, but she could enjoy plant life well enough when the mood struck her.

That smile never faded when she said she was definitely calling him fat, a hearty laugh just left him instead. He was careful as he leaned in then, close enough that he could press a kiss to her cheek, complete with a loud playful smack. "I love you too," he cooed as he pulled away.

"You only find it boring because it holds all of my clothes, no pretty dresses or anything of the sort. Well, except for that one...." He shot her a playful wink, chuckling. He found himself rather amusing when drinking.

His head bobbed happily when she had the right word. "I want to call it something else, I never seem to find the right room," he confessed. "I hope one of the kids will get her love for the plants. I know she'll enjoy sharing it with them." He couldn't seem to keep kids off the brain, especially with the end of the season so close. Sure, the fight while they had been on vacation had helped to reign him back in, but now that there was a light at the end of the tunnel, he couldn't think of anything but.

Hyperion and OPEN

Although he didn't want to admit it, Hyperion was a little jealous that Fitz and Coop's houses were ready before his, but he and Zahara had gone just a little bit wild with their design ideas, so it made sense. Their house was almost done now, and he and Zahara had been working more with the landscapers and doing the ridiculous amounts of shopping they needed to do to furnish their large home. In just a few weeks, they would be able to move in.

But today was all about celebrating the completion of Coop and Gen's home, and it really was a nice one. Not his style, but it definitely suited his best friend's wife, which meant, he was sure, that Coop loved it too. And he was sure that, in time, his best mate would put his loud touches on things around here. But between the four houses spread out on the thirty acres they'd bought together, there would be plenty of kids and all the craziness that went along with them, and that was what he couldn't wait for the most.

Thinking about all the possibilities, about how, despite all the loss and pain, he was finally on the path to the future he'd always known he would want eventually, Hyperion took his drink out onto the enclosed back porch. It was still a bit cold, but someone had put up charms to keep the temperature here comfortable, if a bit cooler than inside.
