RP: Checking on the Peanut
Who: Addi and Persephone
When: Friday, December 1, 2009 [slightly backdated]
Where: Persephone's office
What: Addi's first OB check-up.
Warnings: Emotions.
It had been an emotionally tumultuous couple of weeks, and Addi was more than ready for things to calm the hell down. From the dinner party going so spectacularly sideways, to her mystery admirer, to Phillip keeping his space (not that she'd reached out to him, but she didn't think she should have to be the one to!)--she'd thrown herself even more into her work, and she knew she wasn't taking as good care of herself as she should. But she'd remembered to take her prenatals every day, and she rather thought that made up for her inability to keep food down and her long hours at work.
She'd scheduled this appointment with Persephone last week, and though she knew she should tell Phillip about it so he could be here with her, she'd stubbornly held back. He'd hurt her by proposing when he had and then more so for not understanding why that had hurt, and then when she'd told him to leave, he'd done so. The distance that night and since was killing her, but she couldn't bring herself to do anything about it. It was a vicious cycle now, with her feeling more and more alone as each day passed, wondering if he was ever going to reach out to her again. She didn't understand how he could just stay away like this, and she'd cried more than she would admit to. But she was nothing if not stubborn, and so she kept waiting.
When Persephone came out and called her back, Addi gave her a smile that didn't reach her eyes. It had nothing to do with Persephone and everything to do with Addi's own unstable emotional state. Phillip not being here with her for this was making her want to cry all over again, and she couldn't even blame him for it, as he didn't know. She'd almost called him at least a dozen times while waiting in the lobby. "Hello, Persephone," she greeted the other woman as she followed her back.
