RP: Dinner With Mum Jane
Who: Addi and Jane (NPC by Kandie)
When: Wednesday, November 22, 2009
Where: The cottage
What: Addi has Jane over for dinner, not only to give Zee and Andrew the space for their dinner, but to gain some matronly insight from the older woman.
Warnings: Emotions
Addi was, in a word, nervous. Jane had been so quiet at the dinner party on Sunday, and she hadn't really gotten a chance to pull the woman aside for a conversation, quick or otherwise, and had even forgotten entirely to ask her if she'd join her for dinner tonight. She'd wanted to talk to Jane for weeks now, almost since she'd found out she was pregnant, though she'd known she needed to make a decision about the pregnancy before she did so. And despite the roller coaster the past few weeks and the past few days in particular had been, she didn't regret her decision to keep the baby. She had some extremely mixed up feelings about Phillip, especially as he'd not reached out to her since leaving the cottage Sunday night, and she had no idea where to go from here.
And then there were the flowers. Having no idea who'd sent them, she'd tucked the note away and took the flowers up to a restaurant, donating them to adorn the tables there. She saw no reason to hang onto flowers from an anonymous sender. And after that, she'd tried to put it out of her mind. Whoever had sent it was probably no one to worry about. Hell, it could have been a joke. Even if she was deluding herself, she was content in it for now; she had far too many other things to worry about.
After work, Addi had slipped out for take-away before going home, hoping Jane wouldn't mind terribly that she wasn't going to cook. It was something she knew she should probably start doing more of, as it wouldn't be healthy or affordable to eat out all the time once the baby got here, but for now it was something she didn't want to stress about. She hadn't bothered changing, having gone for a far more comfortable look lately anyway, though she did transfer the food to baking dishes and put it in the oven at a low temperature to keep it warm until Jane arrived.
