The Daily Prophet: Confessions Coverage (S1 Recap)
Confessions with Katie! By Katie Bell, Entertainment Reporter |
As we head into the midseason hiatus for our favorite soapy late night delight, I had to do a rewatch! Here's a recap of the entire first season of Confessions; coming soon will be a recap of the first half of Season 2! Wednesday, March 01, 2009 (S1E1) You Probably Couldn't See for the Lights... British witch Britt Johnson has just finished her NEWTs at Beauxbatons and returned to London. We meet Britt's mother (also a witch) and father (a muggle) as they help her move back into the house. While out to drinks with her childhood best friend Nadia (also a witch, Hogwarts educated, Gryffindor) she meets the beautiful Les Farmer (LOGAN WOOD), who appears to be new to the neighborhood. He introduces the girls to Sebastian "Seb" Colson, his "adopted brother". It seems like a perfectly normal night out among young, attractive people, but when the girls are walking home, they stumble upon a dead body - a young girl who could easily be mistaken for Britt, with her throat torn out - on their street corner.Wednesday, March 08, 2009 (S1E2) ...but You Were Looking Straight at Me We open a bloody-faced Sebastian, seemingly the murderer from Britt's neighborhood, his fangs are still extended. Les joins him in their kitchen, where Seb is cleaning up, and tsks, making fun of his brother for tearing into a blood bag too enthusiastically and getting it all the place. Seb is perhaps not the killer, but they are clearly vampires. They discuss Britt, how taken Les obviously is with her, Seb is mostly during the conversation, a brooding look on his perfect features.Wednesday, March 15, 2009 (S1E3) If I Could Turn Back Time In a flashback to 1919, we see an apparently human Sebastian Colson having a laugh with friends in a pub in Dublin. There's a flash of blond hair that catches his eye and the next thing we know it's very late in the night and he's speaking to a petite, faceless blond at the bar (we never see her face, just the back of her). They shut the place down and begin a whirlwind romance. We see flashes of their relationship, including a scene with Sebastian asking the woman about the ruby necklace she wears. We don't hear her answer.Wednesday, March 29, 2009 (S1E4) Forgive Me First Love A clearly besotted Les & Britt run into an old friend of Britt's - the Muggle Mikey Sullivan, who's apparently also just moved back from France. The run in is awkward and later Britt explains that she knew Mikey the summer before her last year in Paris and they were an item - her first, as a matter as of fact. We see Mikey later confused to see an old picture of Les - but it couldn't possibly be Britt's new boyfriend, because the photo is from is the 1940's.Wednesday, April 05, 2009 (S1E5) Hit Me With Your Best Shot Just as the brothers make to attack Mikey, Britt - who he was walking to meet - comes into the scene and saves him with her magic. Mikey is terrified and Britt is surely in trouble with the Ministry for using her magic in front of a Muggle, but he's safe and they get away, just as she recognizes Les and Sebastian in the dark.Wednesday, April 12, 2009 (S1E6) Apologize Les is trying to get Britt to speak to him, to apologize for not telling her the truth of who he is, though he points out more than once that she didn't tell him he's a witch, either. Of course, he knew that, which she uses as an excuse to not hear him out.Wednesday, April 19, 2009 (S1E7) Past in Present The episode opens on a shot of Sebastian's mobile phone ringing. As the camera pans in, we see he has several missed calls from Les. Only once it stops ringing does he reach for it, his expression vacillating between annoyance and pain at ignoring his brother.Wednesday, April 26, 2009 (S1E8) Demon John After an awkward reunion where Sebastian reveals that he knows what Les told Britt, Les and Sebastian have it out in a bloody fight. Thankfully, the blood doesn't belong to either of them, but is the result of some burst blood bags in their kitchen. There's still some broken furniture, though, and the two end up lying amid the wreckage of their living room covered in blood. Naturally, this is when Britt arrives.Wednesday, May 3, 2009 (S1E9) Walking with a Ghost The penultimate episode! Nadia and Mikey decide to use Britt's birthday party as the perfect place to expose Les as a vampire. At the party, Nadia flirts with a cute bartender. He seems familiar somehow - where have we seen him before? Nadia slips human blood into Les's drink (thanks, Mikey), and that's when Sebastian shows up. Somehow he's managed to get drunk. "You smell like pure alcohol," Nadia tells him, but even rapidly-declining inebriation doesn't stop him from intercepting the spiked drink before it gets to Les. Even now he wants to protect Les.Wednesday, May 10, 2009 (S1E10) It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday We open on Nadia's funeral. After, Britt and Les fall into bed. It's intimate and emotional, all soft light and glimpses of bare skin. But after she can't sleep. It's been two weeks since Nadia was murdered, two weeks since they last saw anything of Sebastian. Did he do this? Where is he? She needs to find him. Les paces as Britt brews a scrying potion, but she falls asleep before it's completed. Les sees the answer he's been looking for: Dublin. He sabotages the potion and leaves, determined to deal with his maker, for better or worse. |
