Re: The Wedding
Hyperion was doing okay, honestly. He'd got a bit misty-eyed, but he was getting through it, and then at some point during Ewan's vows, a chord was struck deep within him. He looked at Panda's face, then glanced at his other sister, Persephone standing by Dora's side, and then their only living brother, Phillip sitting next to Adelaide in the front row, and then back to Pandora. They'd all nearly lost her to that darkness, and it had taken him the longest to get her back in his life. He'd been grateful many times these past months that she hadn't shut the door in his face when he'd surprised her by showing up on her doorstep on Easter, but he'd never been more grateful than he did in that moment. If he'd missed this? Missed the opportunity to officiate her wedding, to celebrate the love she shared with Ewan, he didn't think he would have been able to forgive himself.
And then Dora spoke, leading up to the Scottish promise, and it became harder to hold the tears back. But he did, blinking them back as he prepared to segue into the handfasting. He pulled his wand out then and levitated a small wooden box up in front of him. It had been carved with various runes and blessings for the marriage, and inside were the cords Ewan and Dora had chosen for their handfasting. One was woven with orange for encouragement and adaptability, brown for healing and nurturing and home and hearth, and gray for balance and a return to the universe without repercussion. The other with black for strength and empowerment, pink for love and unity, and silver for creativity and vision and protection.
Hype opened the box magically and then levitated the cords out, sending them to wrap around Ewan and Dora's joined hands in figure eights as a symbol for eternity as he spoke. "These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes: tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will comfort you in illness, and hold you when fear or grief racks your mind. These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times. These are the hands that will give you support and encourage you to chase your dreams. Together, everything you wish for can be realized."
He took a breath, tucking his wand away, and then added a blessing of his own to their marriage, hoping that they wouldn't be upset with him for it. "May you know nothing but happiness from this day forward. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home. And may the hand of a friend always be near. May green be the grass you walk on. May blue be the skies above you. May pure be the joys that surround you. May true be the hearts that love you," he murmured the last as his hands lifted the ends of the cords, tying them in simple knots.
"From this day forward you are husband and wife. You may seal your vows with a kiss," he instructed them, taking a small step back.
