Who: Rolf and Etta Scamander
What: Etta has come home for a bit!
Where: The flat above The Bestiary
When: The very early hours of Monday, May 15.
Warnings: Potentially language? But thats it.
Etta loved travelling, there was no doubt about it, she’d grown up jetsetting all over the world. What she hated was portkeys. Direct portkeys were expensive and hard to come by, and as an intern, Etta didn’t make as much money as she would have liked… which is why she was on her third portkey that day. It was tiring, sometimes having hours between portkeys, but not really wanting to travel too far lest she get distracted and miss it.
After a long day of bouncing all over Europe, she landed in a place that was unmistakably London from the smells and the sounds and the towering, cramped buildings that loomed over heard. The city always felt so claustrophobic, compared to the deserts and fields and unknown expanses that Etta had experienced, but she found that she loved it regardless. It was the only place she’d ever called home, the only place she ever consistently returned to. Honestly, she’d missed the sense of home in Egypt. The lack of family dinners, or seeing her siblings, even when they traveled, they were often together, but in Egypt she’d been the only Scamander, and it had been strange… not that she hadn’t loved the people she’d come to work with, but her family were important to her. Ultimately, it was that reason she took the job at the Ministry, it was just closer to all the important people she cared about.
It had been close to two in the morning by the time her final portkey had landed. She hadn’t properly accounted for time differences, and knew that her brother (the person whom she’d wanted to see first) would be dead asleep by the hour. Any normal person would have given into the urge to rent a room for the night and catch up on sleep until some more reasonable hour, but not Etta. She’d come, in part, as a surprise and she was going to surprise him fully… by sneaking into his house.
It wasn’t particularly hard, Etta knew The Bestiary well, as it had been her grandfathers and the flat on top was just as familiar. Plus, as a cursebreaker, Etta was no stranger to getting around wards, and getting into places that she might not be wanted. She grinned, and a few spells later was climbing through the front window of Rolf’s livingroom. She thought about waking him up, but thought better of it. Instead, she pulled out a small throw blanket from her backpack, and kicked her dirty shoes off by the door. Her brothers flat had always been welcoming to her, and so she had no problems making herself at home, sprawling out on his couch and sleeping, for him to discover the next morning when he woke.
