Cassandra Marshall: Prompt #2
Prompt #2 Family
Before my embrace I didn't have much of a family. My mother had kicked me out of the house when I was sixteen and I went to live with my Nana When Nana died I left California for the east coast.
I reinvented myself, became a whole new person. That's when Cassandra Marshall was born. Here in Queensport everything changed for me. Once my Nana had died I didn't have a family. I was a little lonely with my new life in Queensport but it would only be a couple of years before that too would change.
Two years after coming here I shed that weakness called life and I gained a new family.
Rick is family, though we are not blood kin. We have different sires and are of different clans but we were embraced together. We have been through a lot and he's like my brother. We definitely fight like siblings.
My sire? Well that's a long story. I know that he didn't mean to sire me, but I am grateful to Devon for this new existence none the less. Sadly I knew him for less than a night, before he made the decision to fall into the big sleep for a while. He had a broken heart I guess.
My grandsire Gregory has been pretty cool though. I don't see him often since he lives in Boston and belongs to the Invictus and all. The Invictus aren't so bad; as long as they keep their claws out of Malcolm's city I don't have a problem with them. Gregory seems pretty proud of me. I like that.
Malcolm's my boss of course, but he's family too. Rick pledged his service to Malcolm for a decade but I'm here for the long haul. For however long Malcolm wants me here I am here. For our kind that could be quite a long time, if I'm lucky anyway.
My ghouls are part of my family as well. Tommy, Eric, Hal, and Solomon, they are my servants, my lovers, my family.
This of course leaves me with Spider, my love. He's one hundred and fifty years my senior and of the Nosferatu clan. Many would think that a Nos and a Daeva wouldn't be getting along so well, but we do. I've been blessed to have him since shortly after my embrace. He is everything to me. Everything.
So, yes I have family. It may be what others consider a family, but hey, that is their problem.
