After accidentally accosting Emmeline in the hallway, Caradoc had gone back to the common room to drop off his stuff and to send word to Theo. It seemed like only minutes had passed since he'd send off the little paper monkey and already it was sitting on his pillow with a response. Glancing at it quickly, and tucking the thoroughly folded parchment in his pocket, he headed off to the kitchens, the smile his success had brought on still wide on his face.

Finally reaching the kitchens, he pushed through the painting, hands tucked in his pockets and a smug grin on his face. "You're very welcome, mate," he said by way of greeting, watching his friends anxious pacing with an amused look on his face. Aww, young love.

He strode over the nearby counter and picked up a roll to munch on, quickly asking a house elf if they happened to have any curry on hand. What was a trip to the kitchens during dinner time without a hot meal?

"Oi Mate!" he said almost astounded as Caradoc casually walked over to the elves, "Not until I get an official answer. I mean I assume by the automatic response of 'your welcome' she is single, but if this is some cruel joke I will sock you one!" he said, not sure if he actually would.

He ran a hand through his hair, his mind racing, damn the curry he wanted to know if chess under the stars was between friends, or had the potential to be a date.

	Car walked over to where his friend was pacing, plopping down on the counter with little ceremony. "No socking necessary, mate," he said, chewing on the roll. "She's single." His smug grin was still firmly in place, as he waited to see how his friend would react. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Theodore felt stunned, he knew he shouldn't and yet the boy could not help himself, he knew the answer was more likely a yes, he had after all recieved a paper monkey, but still this hit him like a wave. Relief washed over him, because he was prepared to provide some Quidditch accidents if nessecary. The corners of his mouth were twitching as the boy tried to fight off the massive smile that threatened to consume his face, he didn't want to appear to eager and yet with one look at Caradoc's smug grin he ran over and practically tackled the older boy.

"This is so clearly awesome!"

Caradoc chuckled, reaching out a hand to keep himself from falling off the counter as the younger boy tackled him, and almost dropping the roll out of his mouth.

"Oi, careful mate," he muttered, still laughing. He steadied himself and straightened, swinging his feet idly off the edge of the counter. "I don't think I've seen you this happy about a girl in ages," he added, after chewing and swallowing another bite of bread.

Theodore just grinned, "What can I say, she plays Quidditch, she is smart and she is beautiful... how can one NOT be excited? I got the vibe she might be into me but you never know sometimes when they are in a relationship they are just being friendly, but now that its definite that she's single I can make a move."

For the very little experience he had really dating a girl, he could talk a lot. Although, most of it was unfounded guessing and he just hoped he sounded smart.

"Understandable, understandable." He finished off the roll, and clasped his hands in front of him, watching his friends animated gestures, and explanation.

"So what's that move going to be?" he asked with raised eyebrows, simultaneously grateful for the delicious smell of curry wafting over him from the stove nearby, and the fact that Theo hadn't asked about his methods.

"Well she demanded I play a game of chess with her, which I am more than willing to do. Tomorrow night, in the astronmy tower. I figure I'll bring my old guitar and woo her the good ol' fashioned way..." he trailed off, it had been awhile since he had actually played and hoped he would not embarras himself.

"Hey, by the way Car," he siad catching a whiff of the curry, "You were subtle right?"

Car grinned. "Wow. The guitar? You must really like this bird, that's breaking out the big guns." He fell silent for a moment, thinking. "Is she a Muggle, or is all this guitar wooing going to be new to her?"

At the younger boys last words, he fell silent again, wishing he still had the roll left to occupy himself with. "Subtle?" he asked, flashing him a weak smile. "Must you even ask? Subtlety is my middle name."

	"Sure it is, after big tromping elephant." Theodore said good-naturedly, however true the comment might be. The Hufflepuff might be ecstatic but he was not dumb and could see the weakness in his best mates smile. "Never speak... what exacty did you do?" The hufflepuff responded somewhat amazed. As much as he loved his mate he was the only guy he knew who could take a relatively simple task and turn it into a huge project resulting in people not speaking to each other.

One of the houseelves held up a basket of rolls and the boy took one graciously, ripped it apart and waited for Caradoc to respond as he munched into the bread.

Car shrugged, smile never fading as he responded. "No worries mate, no worries. It's all done now, she's single, and she has no idea it was about you."

A house elf approached with a steaming plate of red curry and some silverware and handed it up to Car, where he was still perched on the counter. "Mmmm, thanks," he replied, distracted, as he inhaled deeply and wasted no time to spear some chicken on his fork and shove it into his mouth.

Theodore thought about it and the more he did the more confidant he was, "Well I wont lie, last year was a brutal season. I swore that our beaters were going to kill each other rather than anything else, but now that they've been replaced I have confidance that we will do well this year. Might be the first time in a long time that we will actually be a threat to you guys."

Theodore knew Quidditch pride amongst the houses and he knew Hufflepuff had never been a particular threat, but this year he knew they had a good shot and they would milk it for all its worth.

	"Yeah for you. I was amazed that McNeil was able to handle it." he said referencing last years Captain who had already graduated Hogwarts.
