Who: Brenna and Josie Where: Avarice II When: Saturday Evening, 7/3
After a day of moving into her new apartment, Josie decided to thank Brenna for helping her out by taking her out to Avarice II and buying a round of drinks. OK, she was taking her to a place that her parents kind of owned, but it was a cool place, and one of the few that she was familiar with in Vegas right now. It was just too weird for her to be living in the same city as her younger parents. Sure, she'd still visit on occasion, because now she was functionally getting along with them, unlike before, but she wanted to strike out on her own a little. Plus, she had gotten a job at an art museum in Vegas (yeah, Vegas has those), which was right up her alley, plus she had gotten a good deal on a huge loft apartment that had plenty of room for her to paint in. She grinned at Brenna as they walked inside. "Your parents did good with this place," she said, looking around.
"It is awesome, isn't it?" Brenna beamed with a smile as she walked into the club with Josie wearing a pair of slightly tattered denim shorts, black tank top and a cute little gangster type hat. Brenna had been super excited when she learned Josie was moving to the City of Sin and had insisted on helping her move into a place when the other found something to her liking. Having someone she actually knew from her time and place in the future was just going to be an awesome thing for the teen. With Josie she knew she could truly be herself and not have to keep any secrets from.
Honestly Brenna was why she had chosen Vegas. She had been one of her friends in the future, so having her here was of the good as well "I would say I wish my parents owned a club, but them trying to do anything together might end disastrously."
"Not everyone can have parents as awesome as mine." The blond teased. And seeing how different her folks were, almost like night and day, it was a wonder in most peoples mind that they had managed to stay together for as long as they had. And actually produced a future offspring that was literally part Kellerman, part Bale.
"Nope guess not," Josie said with a smirk. After getting inside, Josie picked a table and the two of them sat down and ordered their drinks from a passing waitress. "Thanks again for helping me move."
"It gave me something to do." Brenna smiled in return to her friend. And when the waitress returned a moment later with their drinks Brenna took a small sip of her water on the rocks with a twist of lemon. "So, when do you start that new job of yours here in Vegas?"
"Glad to give you something to do then," Josie said with a slight smirk. She took a sip of her coke when it arrived. "I start the job next week," Josie told her. "I wanted to give myself time to finish getting my apartment set up before starting work."
"I'm so glad I have another year before I have to start the whole working a job thing. Well, that is if the parentals don't insist I take the college route." Brenna took another drink of her water then and gave a brief glance around the club. Having to give up all the free time she presently had wasn't something the teen was looking forward to. Even if it were a couple months away.
"I'm actually kind of looking forward to working," Josie admitted. She just wasn't the type to sit around with nothing to do too well, and she had been doing plenty of that since coming to this time. Well, she HAD made up with her parents a bit, but other than that, she hadn't done too much. "And hey, if college is your thing, then go for it. They'll probably just be happy if you find something to do that you love, though." That was the way with most parents, so Josie had heard.
"What I think I'd like to do is run this place." Brenna said giving her friend a smile. "Be the entrepreneur type my Uncle Benny is." Well, maybe not exactly like her Uncle Ben. Brenna couldn't see herself owning and running a strip joint. But a club like Avarice? Yeah, the blond felt she could totally get into that. Maybe even extend the franchise even further then the two already in operation.
"Well, if you really want to do that, going to college for business wouldn't be a terrible idea," Josie suggested. "Also, you've got the best place for an 'internship' that anyone could ask for, not to mention connections." She had a point. The girl came from the perfect family if she wanted to run a club or two.
"It's either that or go the recording industry route, which would thrill my dad beyond words." Brenna shared with her friend. Where most kids her age didn't have a clue what they wanted to do past graduating high, Brenna Kellerman had to paths from which to choose from. Both of which she kind of had a idea of what were like to work in.
"Either could be interesting and fun," Josie admitted. "Guess I'm more of an artist than a manager, though." Josie knew how unlikely it was that she'd ever make anything by painting, but it was something she loved and, if this job with the museum worked out, she could still support herself that way. It would all work out in the end.
"I guess they're both just in my blood." Brenna offered in return with a slight shrug. "But being an artist is good. Especially the starving artist types." The teen grinned slightly at the thought, ridiculous as it might be, of Josie selling her artwork on a street corner to make money just to get by with.
Josie just laughed. "I'd do it if I have to, but hopefully the art gallery job will keep me from having to go that low." She thought for a second. "Doing portraits of people on the street corner kind of sounds like fun, though."
Brenna took a nice long drink of her water on the rocks before adding anything further to their conversation. "Maybe you could do a portrait of me and my folks sometime." The teen suggested. Most of her possessions that held sentimental value had been left behind in her time, and the only physical piece of memory she had been lucky enough to sneak out with her was a framed photo of her and her parents in the future. Having a portrait done would mean the world to the blond teen.
Josie smiled. "I'd be more than happy to do that for you," she told the other girl. Unfortunately, Josie hadn't come through with much of anything. She had just kind of poofed, instead of having the ability to pack. Still, she wasn't much of a sentimental gal, so she wasn't too worried about 'stuff' in particular. She knew that many of her friends were, though.
"I'll check with the parentals and let you know, then." Brenna said back to her friend. "And now," her glass was set on the table when the blond slid off her chair and grabbed for her friend's hand, "we're gonna show this crowd just what dancing is." Flashing a grin at Josie, Brenna tugged her hand to get the other girl up on her feet and led out to the dance floor.
Josie laughed, setting her drink down and letting Brenna all but pick her up and pull her onto the dance floor. Hey, Josie could have a good time with the rest of them, you know?
