Stopping In For A Book
Who: Jordan and Jessica
Where: The Ninth Circle Occult Shop
When: Monday Early Evening - September 20
Jordan had left The Mirage after a day of working with the dolphins exhibited at the hotel. Instead of heading home the brunette detoured to a shop she had heard about. There was a book she was looking to acquire and Jordan set her hopes high that the place would have the publication, or at least be able to order a copy for her. Parking her yellow 1979 VW Super Beetle Convertible in front of the shop Jordan exited the vehicle and strode confidently toward the entrance.
Dressed rather demurely in a snugly-fitting Lifehouse tee and low-slung painters jeans, her short read hair slightly mussed, Jessica got up from the floor, where she'd been organizing some of the books on the bottom shelf. Her smile was bright, and she gave an adorable little wave to the other girl.
"Hi... I'm Jessica... welcome to The Ninth Circle. Can I help you?"
"Hi." Jordan smiled pleasantly to the woman offering the greeting. "Nice shirt." The brunette couldn't help but let her smile broaden slightly at seeing the t-shirt Jessica wore. Who would've thought that two fans of the musical group Lifehouse would encounter each other in a store of the occult.
"Anyway," Jordan cleared her throat, keeping her smile, before continuing. "I'm looking for a specific book and was hoping you might have it in stock."
"Well... I can certainly check for you. If we don't have it, a friend of mine runs a similar shop in Los Angeles, I can always call her and see if SHE has it, and we could have it shipped here..." Jessica smiled and clasped her hands behind her back, trying not to fidget or get caught kind of... staring. Ok, so the other girl was kinda gorgeous. Shut up.
"That would be great!" Jordan said with a sunny smile and thoughts that mirrored the other woman's, though neither would have known that. "The book I'm on the hunt for is the Collected Works of Aleister Crowley."
"Funny enough, I know for fact we have that, because I just saw it this afternoon. If you can give me a few moments to find it, I know it's here." Oh, damn it. That little smile on the other girl was enough to turn Jessica into a little puddle there. "So are you very into the occult? Or just dabbling a bit?"
"I'm slowly building my library on the subject," Jordan stated as she gave a glance around the place before giving her attention back to the pretty little store clerk. "So I suppose you could say I'm highly interested in the occult rather then a mere dabbler." In fact, though she read up on the subject Jordan had never tried any spells or incantations she found in the very small collection of occult books she had in her apartment.
"I'm something of an expert in the area, years of research and experience, so... if there's anything you need, let me know. I can probably help." She pointed up then, grinning. "I live right above the shop, so... I'm pretty much always around."
"I'll keep that in mind." Jordan responded back with that smile of hers lingering. In fact she might make it a point of dropping in on the woman for her company alone.
"We... we have tea, you know..." She said, trying to find SOMETHING to say, cutely, as she looked for the book the girl had come for. "For customers... something to get them to stay around, maybe think of more things they want..."
"Well, if you're offering, then I'm accepting." The brunette answered back watching the woman as she searched for the book Jordan had come in for. She really wasn't in any sort of rush to get home to a quiet apartment. Spending a little more time in the shop, and maybe getting to know the clerk a little bit better, was no problem. "I'm Jordan by the way."
"Jessica. But you can call me Jessi. Most people do." The redhead stated, before grinning and yanking a book off the shelf. "Ah-HAH! Found it! Although... if you still want tea, it's on the little table on the other side of the bookshelf..."
Pity that she located it so quickly. "Maybe I'll take a rain check on the cup of tea." It would be a logical reason for her to make a return trip to the little occult shop with the pretty red haired clerk. "If you could maybe ring it up?" Jordan asked moving over to the counter.
Cutely enough, Jessica actually sighed there, obviously disappointed. "Gotcha." She took the book over to the counter and typed a few things into the register. "That'll be $14.95 please..."
That little sigh of disappointment only seemed to add to the red head's attractiveness in Jordan's opinion and had the brunette smiling softly as she handed over a credit card to pay for the book. "Thank you." Jordan said softly once the purchase had been made. She turned then to leave, though only taking a couple steps before turning back to the other woman.
"Would you like to have lunch sometime?" Yes, Jordan found herself unable to leave without first asking Jessi out. Hopefully the red head would be agreeable to it and make Jordan a happy little camper.
"... wow. I... I think I'd love it." The redhead almost squealed in excitement there, offering a hand to the other woman. "Just call here sometime... like I said, I'm always here."
"I will definitely be calling, Jessi." Jordan smiled partial amused at the woman's apparent enthusiasm at being asked out as she took Jessica's hand holding onto it a bit longer then was customary. It just felt right in her hand. Comfortable and natural.
