Gonna Colorfy Your World
Who: Bridget and Ashleigh
Where: Red Rock Canyon
When: Sunday Afternoon - August 15
"It's not too much further." Bridget declared with a glance over to Ashleigh about twenty minutes into the leisurely ride on horseback into red Rock Canyon. To Bridget the scenery was breathtaking with the occasional spotting of the local wildlife adding to the beauty that surrounded the two women. Trail rides from Cowboy Trail Rides were normally done in guided groups, but Bridget knew the people who ran the outfit and was able to coax them into letting her play guide on a private trail ride for two.
Ashleigh had never been horseback riding before – for two reasons. One being that she hardly ever found the time to do things for herself, and two … horses frightened her slightly. They were such large and beautiful creatures, but… Bridget's confidence assuaged that fear and after a few minutes, she found that she was enjoying herself. "It's very beautiful out here," she murmured conversationally.
"You doing okay over there?" Bridget asked in a soothing tone with a soft smile directed at her riding partner. She knew about Ashleigh's very mild phobia where horses were concerned and was proud of the woman's ability to push past all that to accompany her on the private ride. One Ashleigh seemed to be enjoying.
"Surprisingly well," Ashleigh replied, before stroking a hand soothingly along the horse's neck. "I think Bob here is a very good riding companion," she added with a smile. Why it was named Bob was anyone's guess, really… "Thank you for taking me out today. I'd almost forgotten what sunlight felt like on my skin," she joked.
Looking at Ashleigh, Bridget wondered what the forensic expert would feel like against her own skin after hearing her reply. "He's one of the more gentle mounts at the stable." Bridget informed the woman. Bob had actually been chosen for Ashleigh due to her inexperience in riding and because of the animal gentle nature. Bridget's own mount was a bit more temperamental, but the woman was used to the creatures demeanor as she had owned Devil Star for about three years now. The animal was currently boarded at the stables they had rode out from.
"He's lovely," Ashleigh replied. "My mother rode horses competitively when she was a teenager and she had told me some... rather terrifying stories as a child. While I always thought they were beautiful, I worried that I'd have a fall if I were to try. Which... well, you can understand my hesitation." She smiled faintly, barely resisting the urge to cheekily ask 'Are we there yet?'
"Well," Bridget eased Devil Star over a bit closer to Ashleigh and her mount, "I don't think you have to worry about taking a tumble off Bob here." Reaching over Bridget gave the creature a light pat, then let her hand settle a brief moment on the other woman's thigh. "He's too gentle a creature." She smiled softly to Ashleigh.
"Luckily for all involved, hm?" Ashleigh smiled in return, carefully easing Bob to a stop. He was so mild mannered a creature, she idly wondered if all horses were like him. She placed a hand over Bridget’s on her thigh and let it linger there.
Bridget went with the moment to lean over and kiss her riding companion after reining her mount to a stop. "Luckily." The brunette murmured softly against Ashleigh's lips before drawing back slowly with a smile lingering upon her lips. "There's a spot about five minutes up that'll be a good stopping place." She told Ashleigh as she got Devil Star moving once more at a slow walk.
"Tease," Ashleigh murmured before slowly following after Bridget. "Do you often take dates here?" She asked curiously, although there was no hiding that cheeky little grin of hers. A part of her wanted to know, but a larger part of her wanted to know what it would take to fluster Bridget. Or even if anything could.
"You're the first one." Bridget told her. She had rode out into Red Rock Canyon before, but those times she had come alone. This was the first time since Bridget had moved to Vegas that she brought someone with her. In fact Ashleigh was the first person she had taken a liking to in the City of Sin and wanted to spend actual time around.
Ashleigh smiled then, hearing that. She couldn’t honestly remember the last time she’d been anyone’s first… well, anything (And yes, that made her feel a tad old, thank you very much). She gasped as she took in the view. There was something about Vegas that constantly surprised her. "Consider me honoured," she replied in that sultry accent of hers.
Bridget simply smiled over to the other woman. After another couple of minutes the werewolf was once more reining in her mount to a stop having reached their intended destination. "This is it." Bridget declared dismounting from her ride. The woman then untied a rolled up blanket from behind the saddle while waiting for Ashleigh to dismount from her own horse.
Ashleigh took a little more time dismounting from Bob, if only because she hadn’t really done it before, and even riding felt awkward as hell, but somehow, she managed it. She blushed faintly as she tied him loosely to a nearby tree, least he wander. "This is… breathtaking."
"Utterly breathing taking." Bridget remarked back letting her gaze drift over the dark haired woman's form after getting the blanket spread out full over a patch of ground.
Ashleigh smiled and reached for Bridget's hand. She'd been so lost in her work that she'd almost completely forgotten what it was like to be wanted, and to want someone in return. "You've planned ahead," she observed.
Bridget smiled back." Always do." Taking a hold of the other woman's hand gently, Bridget pulled Ashleigh closer. Catching an arm around the dark hair beauty's waist, Bridget moved in to delicately kiss her date for the afternoon.
Ashleigh returned the kiss, setting one hand on Bridget's waist while the other hand gently snaked behind Bridget's neck, her fingertips playing lightly against bare skin.
"Mmmm." A soft smile shone when Bridget broke the kiss with reluctance and lick of her lips. "Maybe I should have just invited you to my place." She teased letting her forehead rest lightly against Ashleigh for a moment.
Ashleigh chuckled and took in a breath, before leaning in to kiss Bridget once more, softly and tenderly. "Perhaps later," she suggested with a sassy little smile.
"I don't think there's any maybes about it." Bridget countered catching the other woman's gaze, which was held for a brief moment before Bridget took reluctant steps away from her date to remove the sandwiches, bottle of white wine and two carefully wrapped glasses that had been packed into her saddlebag.
The older woman smiled and sat down on the blanket demurely, watching Bridget curiously. She really *had* planned ahead, hadn't she? That was incredibly flattering. "I feel like… as long as I've lived here, it's as if my eyes have been opened for the first time. Is that strange?"
"It really has been a long time since you let someone take you out, hasn't it?" The mild inquiry made once Bridget settled herself on the blanket opposite Ashleigh and poured each a glass of the white wine.
"No. Well, yes, but that’s not what I meant. I just meant that I hadn’t stopped to appreciate where I was." She’d always been so full of life. When had that changed, exactly? She pursed her full lips together, knowing full well the answer to that. "Everything in England is cold and grey."
"Well," after offering a glass to Ashleigh, Bridget raised her own to take of sip of her wine, "you need not worry about things continuing to be cold and grey because I'm going to colorfy your world, Ashleigh Archer." The smile that curved then reached the Asian looking woman's features.
Ashleigh took the glass with a polite ‘thank you’. "Colorfy," she repeated with a smile. "And how do you plan to do that, Bridget Bale? Apart from keeping me in your company, of course, but that should be a given."
"You'll just have to wait and see. What good is a surprise if the person it's meant for knows what to expect." The werewolf smiled with a bit mischievously.
Ashleigh smiled in return. She then took a small sip of her wine (again, she had to be wary of her intake of certain foods and beverages), "That sounds perfectly logical."
