An unfamiliar sensation was burning at Daphne's eyes as they rose to meet Seth's. Before she realized what was happening, she felt something leaving a hot trail down her cheek. She freed a hand to wipe at the mysterious substance, horrified to realize her hand was now wet with tears.
She was embarrassed, but she knew there was no taking it back. It wasn't as if she could claim something had gotten into her eye. "I don't think I'll ever really have you, Seth," came her quiet response. It pained her to say those words, but it was true.
