Theodore was quite absorbed in his work that he didn't notice anyone approach the door, and thus as she spoke up he startled and looking up at her. "Sorry--I didn't notice you were there. Normally people in this department wait for everyone else to have their first cups of coffee before they begin calling upon one another," he said, rising from his seat and putting the papers he was looking through back on his desk. "Perhaps not busy enough," he said with a shrug, nodding slightly in greeting. "I have enough time to look through the case once more, which isn't quite normal for me. It's more straightforward in that sense at least."
"What brings you here?" he asked. He was fairly sure that she wasn't there to see him in particular. Perhaps she may be a bit curious about the case? Or perhaps she really was just passing through--one would never know unless one asked after all.
