Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!complete, day 16, fina, location: thrift store, ramirez

Who: Ramirez and Fina
Where: Thrift shop
When: 11am, Day 16 (backdated, sorry for the delay)
Why: Ramirez is looking for tools to fix the model he was given

Ramirez had woken up somewhere he didn't remember sleeping. After everything that had been going on, he was rather confused and angered. However, the airship model was still on him, broken still. Remembering he wished to fix it, he would stand and look around to get a good idea of where he was. All that studying in the library a few days ago helped him learn the layout of this place, maps and such. The silver-haired man would head off towards the thrift shop, looking around left and right as he went along to see how utterly abandoned this place looked. He could only imagine what the 'captors' had done to create this kind of abandonment. Considering what they were capable of, no one could know.

Coming to the thrift shop, he would check to see if the door was locked. Unlocked. Opening it, he'd step inside. It was a little dark, so it was hard to see. This world used electricity to light things, and he had read about light switches They had similar technology in Arcadia, though implimented this through the use of moon crystals.. Reaching to find a switch, nothing. So he headed behind the counter to try and find one, and again nothing. The Silvite every so often stumbled a bit on things lying around the floor, which was bothersome to him. Eventually, he found a room in the back that had some switches and pressed them, turning the lights on. "There...thats better."

The two of them hadn't been very close since the entire thing went down, he'd become aloof, distant and all around avoidant. When she came into the thrift shop, she moved in carefully an saw Ramirez sitting there. While her heart lifted, it dropped considerably when she realized that he probably didn't want to see her at all or converse with her.

Lightly, she approached him from the side,"....Rami?" She whispered,"Rami?" She said even softer than before.

His ears had all ready heard someone coming, despite Fina's quietness when walking. Shifting his eyes towards the door, he would look over to see it was Fina standing there. She whispered, and the silver-haired man would not respond to her at all. He watched her carefully, seeing what her intentions were.

After speaking again, he replied finally. "What are you doing here?"

Fina felt a little out of her league when it came to Ramirez, his offstandish, icy tone and way had bothered her. When she had been but seven years old, she was happy by jumping into his lap and holding onto him, but now? She wouldn't even touch him unless he had seemed to want it in the first place or needed it.

"...I brought these.." She easily moved to his side, resting the bag of crystals on top of his workspace.

Ramirez watched her, the broken airship model still in his hands. It reminded him of his youth, his time at the Great Silver Shrine with Fina. Looking down at the model, he'd turn his eyes away from her. He wasn't sure how to feel right now, that model reminding him of so many things.

Seeing the crystals, he looked up at her again before picking one up and examining it in the light. "Oh...they're fake. I guess they thought that would be funny." He said, dropping it onto the table. Fake crystals? Why go to the trouble? The airship meant something to Ramirez. What did fake crystals mean to Fina? He turned around and began examining the shelf, looking for some tools to fix the model with. "Did you only come to bring me these fake crystals?"

As before, he ignored her and she was too docile to bring up their problems as all he wanted to do was obsess over his model and forget about everything else. As he picked one up, observed it and dropped it onto the table without care, she pulled it closer to her and replaced it in the bag. "...No, I did not." While she had other intentions, thy were not verbal.

What was she going to do? Try to coax him into releasing some of the tension in between them? Tell him she didn't mean it? What was she going to do? Fina bowed her head slightly, showing him some respect as she had it stuck in her mind that those did things or spoke nicely deserved respect or perhaps it was out of habit.

Finding a few tools here and there, he'd turn around and set them on the counter, glancing at her visage. She was looking very distraught, and upset. He knew what Fina's body language actually meant, but was too angry with her to truly care much. Ramirez lost everything because she aided that filthy pirate.

Starting to work on the model, he'd look away from her, the awkward silence remaining. Eventually, he would speak up. "Why did you come here then?" Asked the Valuan Admiral, not even bothering to look up and see her as he spoke. He sounded stern, very brief and to the point.

Fina was very distraught on what to do about Ramirez, about his cold demeanour towards her. While she very well knew that he preferred to be called Ramirez now, she often called him Rami while they were alone so, in case he were to feel like he could relax, it could be with her. The look on her face was the one she often had when she wanted to be alone to think, but she could not leave him.

Even touching him appeared to be out of the question, he was so unpredictable now. Easily, she shifted and rested her hand near his shoulder but retracted,"I...do not know exactly, I just wished to visit you, Rami.." She paused, her eyes on the ship which had also brought back memories.

Ramirez continued to work and try and fix the model. It wasn't too badly damaged, and some bits of wood lying around were helping. The tiny tools he needed were sometimes difficult to use, but Ramirez had become very good at working with such things from his solitary days spent in The Great Silver Shrine.

Fina's hand coming close to his shoulder caused the silver-haired admiral to look at her, confusion slightly appearing on his face. Fina used to like touching him a lot as a child, but she was an enemy of her own choosing now. When she retracted and spoke, he thought nothing more of it. His old name was voiced, which he didn't like very much at all. "I'm not Rami anymore. My name is Ramirez."

Fina disliked being ignored by him, she thought the situation would make him more forgiving, less cold. It hadn't, he had only become more cold, more unloving than he ever had been before. To his harsh admittance and order, she shook her head,"...You will always be Rami to me..." She trailed off, finally resting her hand on top of his shoulder for the first time in what felt like years. The warmth beneath her hand lead her to believe that some part of him was still as she remembered.

Fina tried to smile at him, sweetly, gently as she always did. It was as genuine as she could make it, sometimes a smile could lift a frown as she hoped the one on Ramirez' would disappear.

"..." He ignored her comments about his name. It didn't matter what she thought, or what she said. His name was Ramirez, a proper Valuan name. And Arcadian name. The Silvites no longer mattered, only obtaining power. He continued to look down at his work, until she placed her hand on his shoulder. Looking up, he saw her sweet smile. It had been a long time since he'd seen anything from her to this degree. In a way, he wasn't sure what to do. He silently watched her, before going back to his work.

"..do you want to help me?" Ramirez asked of her, continuing to mess with the wood and what not to try and fix the model.

Fina was pleased that her smile had been infectious to a degree, allowing him to loosen up even if she didn't feel like smiling at him at the time. Turning around, she pulled a chair closer, beside him so their arms were nearly touching each other. Fina was determined that she could calm or soothe whatever deep-seeded anger that was there now that she wasn't with Vyse or Aika and as selfish as that seemed at the moment..

She couldn't help herself.

She had vehemently been separated from him most of her life, even when they had a chance to speak on their own terms. "What do you want me to do?" She tilted her head at him.

He raised an eyebrow at her pulling up a chair and getting so close. He wasn't used to this kind of close attention, not in quite a long time. Probably ten years or so. Being with Admiral Mendosa meant things like this, like his daughters and such were affectionate with him. And Fina was at the Great Silver Shrine. But ever since he killed Mendosa, things had been very different.

And yet, it wasn't so bad despite making him feel awkward.

Clearing his throat, he would look back at the model and speak. "Hold this piece here, gently but firm enough to keep it in place." Ramirez would say, showing her with his hands what to hold.

Fina's eyes watched him work, just as she used to when she was much younger. Ramirez was a Mister Fix-it, he could make it look like new again if he wanted to and he most definitely was. When he showed her where her hands were to go, she slipped her dainty, small digits to the piece of the wing that appeared the most delicate and held onto it gentle, but firmly.

She focused on him, grinning as widely as she possibly could for him.

Her smiles went unnoticed, as he was too busy working on fixing things. Her steady hands were useful to him though, as he needed an extra pair to hold things in place while he put them back together. Fina's tiny digits worked well for this too. After some time, he looked at her and nodded, signaling to let go. Touching some things up a bit, Ramirez put the finishing touches on the ship.

And there it was, fixed and completed before their eyes. "It doesn't look like any ship I am familiar with. Still...nice to see it fixed now."

Fina was pleased to be with him, she was easily lifted from her previous insecurities around him. After she removed her hands, she placed them on her lap and leaned into the chair comfortably,"I miss our home." She said rather openly,"...the Silver Shrine." Fina, while duped by the men in her civilization, didn't care as they had redeemed themselves to her.

"....I'm glad it's fixed too." She smiled down at the ship, feeling quite lifted just seeing that some things were never going to change. While she thought of touching him again, she refrained.

She bringing up missing the Silver Shrine reminded him of their time there more. It was fun with Fina, but how he hated those ignorant old men. Ramirez actually grinned a bit while thinking about it, which might have given Fina the wrong impression. "It had its moments...you were fun to be around. But the most fun I had with those old bastard was killing Elder Prime." He said in such a cold way.

Ramirez seemed right back to that hateful, cold man he was. Not as angry or hostile, but almost evil in a sense.

Fina hated that look in his green eyes, the lack of warmth, of care when he looked at her. Her hands moved and folded on top of her upper chest while he spoke so cruelly about them. She had remembered it as it was not too long ago for her and she shook her head back and forth,"Rami...why did you stop talking to me all those years ago? I was so upset. -- What did you want to say to me in Valua? You were interrupted, I've been longing to know but we did not ever get the chance to meet on terms where we could discuss anything."

Moving her hand down, she lightly moved to take his wrist and gently remove the glove. Fina was never a threat to him, he had no real reason to resist.

He turned away from her, silent. Her words meant nothing, only power. Ramirez still felt something deep down, but denied it and only embraced power. Embraced strength. "I stopped talking to you because I realized people are all corrupt, only having power matters. Its all that matters. If you have power, you have nothing."

To her next question, he gazed at her for a brief moment, wanting to say it but stopping himself. "Nothing. I forgot what it was now, nothing important."

Perhaps speaking wasn't the way to go, he seemed to say the cruellest thing to her. Moving slightly, she leaned her head on his shoulder and said nothing, she didn't want to believe that things were so different now that she couldn't possibly make it up to him. Fina had missed him, but he didn't seem to give a damn about her.

She didn't want to verbally annoy him again by talking, so she didn't say anything.

Her laying her head on his shoulder caught him by surprise. Ramirez hadn't received much physical contact since he arrived in Arcadia, and her doing this felt awkward to him. Though, it did remind him more of their time together at the Great Silver Shrine. She seemed to want to and need to keep her head there for some sort of comfort. So the silver-haired man let her.

Ramirez just sat there silently as Fina was laying her head on his shoulder, seemingly very distraught.

The moment the glove was off, she moved her hand and easily, splayed out his hand on her lap, her fingers from both hands rubbing and massaging his hands. It was more or less a tactic to relax his nerves as she was well aware of where skin liked to be caressed and nerves liked to be rubbed to do such. Softly, she took a deep and gentle sigh as her cheek rubbed against his arm.

Good, he felt awkward, at least it was better than arguing.

The shoulder was bad enough, but then she began to massage and caress his hand and force it into her lap. This was a stranger situation now, he had never seen Fina act like this with anyone. Ramirez's eyes merely watched her, unsure what to really say or think. Silver brow cocked upward in confusion and awkwardness, remaining silent as he wasn't exactly sure what to say to her.

Finally, he spoke up. "Fina...what are you doing?"

Fina continued for a minute or so until she started just playing with his hand. Her thumbs pushed his fingers out so they were stretched out with the force of her hands,"Your hands...are so...rough now, Rami.." She frowned, having always remembered his hands to have been gentler.

She didn't respond to his question. Oh well, Ramirez let her do as she wished. The girl was obviously very upset and depressed, he figured it was the least he could do all things considered. His hands were rubbed and stretched out his hands as she felt them, speaking about them. In return, Ramirez would reply. "It started with my training at the Great Silver Shrine. But being on Arcadia, in Valua, made them tougher."

Fina didn't understand how he worked anymore or what to say to him. All she knew was if she often yielded to him that it seemed to be more helpful than arguing about who was right or wrong. She turned her head towards him,"I don't know how to talk to you because everything I say to you is only proving to make the situation worse and worse." Fina released his hands and let them go and placed them back on her lap.

Having his hands to himself, Ramirez looked them over for a second before looking back to her. She seemed very distraught and confused. Was it so hard to understand what his goals were in life now? People were stupid and corrupt, and those with power had intelligence and the ability to control them, which is what they need and want in the end anyway. "You expect me to just forgive you in an instant and let go of everything. To just go back to being a child with you again, sheltered and lied to like at the shrine. But the world doesn't work like that, Fina. I've changed because of the corruption and filth that all the people of Arcadia have, even those stupid old men."

Fina felt like she acted so unlike herself, she would usually say something to show that she wasn't beaten down by words. This seemed so easy a thing for Ramirez to do as he was not only a sensitive subject, but a delicate situation as well. The young girl stood up and finally spoke up for herself,"No, but I'm trying to salvage something and you are proving to be exceedingly difficult considering how much I am trying. Trying, Rami, trying. Not many people here seem to have their loved ones, but I have one of mine and we can't even talk." Fina bit down on her lip.

"Must I stay silent if I were to gain your good graces?" She looked straight at him,"Must I show how strong I've become so you can respect me?"

Ramirez got silent and thought on her words, looking down at the model he had fixed. Fina was trying to salvage something? She seemed so hell-bent on becoming close to him again, clinging to him. Naturally, when Vyse isn't around she has to find someone. Still, Fina was like family. He couldn't hate her despite how angry she made him, or how misguided she was. Sighing, he turned to look at the silvite girl again.

"Fina...you are so naive. And because of that naivity, I'll allow you to remain around me. But you need to open your eyes and see the world is not the way you think it is. Its merely controlled with power."

Fina couldn't help but feel he was listening to her, he threw off her words; jilted and unheard by his ears. There was a long pause, she knew that if they were to salvage that she would have to remain silent, composed and distant. Since arriving they have been finding being together to be nothing but a chore whenever she opened her mouth.

Did he not understand?

"The world is not as you see it either..." She refused to look at him now.

The silver-haired admiral could see within her solemn eyes that she did not agree, and she did not like the way he responded to her words. Of course he wasn't going to think whatever she said was true. She was a young, naive girl yet to experience much of the world beyond traveling the skies with a buffoon and a loud-mouth girl.

"You think that now. But one day, you will understand." He reached out with a single hand, grasping onto her chin and gently pulling her face to look at his.

"Don't think this is a bad thing. There must be people in control, or everything is chaos and unjust. I will bring peace to Arcadia."

Ramirez was mad, his words were the ones of lunatic that was just as tainted as a whore in a church, pleading innocence. Fina's eyes remained down until he reached over, gloved hand caressing her face enough to hold it still. Giving in, she turned her face to him and looked into those green hues of his, her mouth felt dry when he finished his sentence. His words seemed like a way to inform her that he had intentions of controlling her.

"..I don't want people to get hurt, Rami..." She frowned, her right hand moved and she touched his forearm.

The silver haired man would continue to hold onto her cheek, thumb caressing it softly from his gloved hand. Her innocence and naivety controlled her, and she was so childish and full of it. Had he been able to bring her with him when he firat arrived in Arcadia, he could have helped show her the reality of the world.

"We cannot prevent that. There will always be people doing something wrong. All we can do is try and control the damage. Its why Arcadia must be united under one person."

This was the first time he touched her face so lovingly, his voice was even a reminder on how she should willingly bend. Fina slowly shook her head, but not enough to be considered truly resistant. Each shift of his thumb was like a quick burn from beneath his fingertip, the air leaving a reminder of hot warm it really was.

Was she going to speak and ruined the moment? No.
