Who:  Remus Lupin, Rose Tyler & The Ninth Doctor
What:  Morning comes and the trio surfaces..
Where:  In the Museum.
When:  Day 17, 7:45am
Rating:  PG
Status:  Complete

It had been a very confusing day for the young werewolf, who wasn't quite sure exactly what was going on. He'd arrived in this strange.. prison town, and he'd met a very nice young woman-- two of them, in fact.. one of which had originally planned on killing him, but now apparently was going to let him go. Then he'd come back to meet with the first young woman and her.. father? He must have been her father. He seemed protective of her.. and he had slept with them, in the museum, that night. He wasn't exactly accustomed to sleeping on the floor, on sheets, but he had done well enough for himself, considering the amount of pain he was in. But he hadn't shown a bit of discomfort and had been gracious and thankful for what he'd been offered. It was better than sleeping outside. The man-- The Doctor, his name was (but a Doctor of what?)-- had looked at him with some concern but hadn't remarked on his injured status and had only told him that it was best they all sleep and converse in the morning.

Remus had been happy to follow that order, and had ended up sleeping under the same sheet with Rose (though he'd blushed for the first ten minutes) and had fallen asleep quite quickly, and slept quite soundly. it was a testament to how tired he really was. And during the night, he'd cuddled up.

But come morning, the boy had woken up in more pain than he'd fallen asleep in, and when he'd sat up, he'd realized that his shirt was stained with red (he'd moved around too much and had once again pulled at the scabs on his chest), and that he'd stained the sheets, as well. His pants, likewise, had a few stripes of red and his hand had bled through the fresh gauze there. His cheek, however, had only a bit of blood staining the very center of the gauze, and had clearly not been very disturbed. So immediately upon finding out what a mess he'd made, he was climbing carefully to his feet and surveying the damage, before lifting hazel eyes to the Doctor, who was already sitting up and awake, having watched the scene unfold in front of him. Remus felt instantly ashamed, though he didn't know why, exactly, and was looking back down at Rose, who surely would have been awoken by his sudden movements. She, too, would have some of that blood on him, but not too much. There wasn't terribly a lot to begin with, but certainly enough that it had raised a concern with the young man doing the bleeding.

"I'm sorry." He apologized quickly, a hand lifting to pluck his shirt away from his chest, but it stuck, the dried blood having fused it to the injury during the wee hours of morning. Oh, great. That was going to hurt later. "I'm so sorry." He apologized again.

Rose was a relatively heavy sleeper, but this place did test that a little. It wasn't her comfortable bed on the TARDIS, nor was it her slightly less comfortable but just as familiar bed at home. It was a bit like camping, but the city girl had never been very good at that. So she shifted uncomfortably during the night, always afraid to wake the sleeping boy at her side. But when she heard him get to his feet, she rolled over and rubbed her eyes with the backs of her hands.

And that was when she got a glimpse of the massacre around her. It looked like the boy had been attacked while they slept, but the logical part of her that peeked through her tired haze knew that couldn't be the case. Even she would've woken up for that. No, obviously whatever had happened had been because of his previous injuries. Ones he seemed terribly reluctant to discuss.

She remained calm as she sat up, rolling the sheet up as she did so. "Are you alright, sweetheart?" she asked, her voice drowsy but concerned. He looked like he'd been beaten all over again. Who would do that to such a young kid?

"I am, I'm alright, I think I just moved around too much last night. I'm so sorry." He came forward then, to crouch and help her roll up the sheet, from the other side, shaking his head slightly as he did. You should have picked some where else to sleep, Lupin. But he was offering her that same small smile as he did. "I normally don't move much," Thanks to sleeping potions, the next few nights after a full moon, "It must have been the ground, I'm not used to sleeping on a floor. Are you alright?" He really hoped he hadn't startled her, but she seemed calm as ever, and he was thankful for it, it helped to keep him from over-reacting. Everyone was alright, Remus.

"You did move around a lot last night." The Doctor supplied helpfully, pushing himself up to his feet as he did, hands patting down over his jacket in his customary morning search for his sonic screwdriver. He was (futilely) hoping that it would return the same way it had disappeared, but no luck so far. "The both of you. I'm sure the cuts just reopened. You should go back to the clinic and have yourself checked out." He was still curious as to how the boy had been injured in the first place. Honestly, he wanted to get that shirt off of him and have a proper look at the wounds, perhaps he'd be able to identify them.

"Or Miss Tyler here and I could have a look." His smile suddenly returned. There, that was a good excuse to have a proper inspection of his wounds and figure out exactly what was going on here, because something was definitely off. "I am a Doctor, after all." Sort of.

Rose shot a glare over her shoulder at the Doctor (not a Doctor, the Doctor), then turned her caring gaze back on the boy. "You'll have to excuse him, sometimes he's a bit over eager." Love him though she did, sometimes the Doctor was a little much even for her to handle.

Reaching out, she rested a hand on Remus' arm to stop him. "Don't worry about it, love, I'll take care of it. Rest, okay? You look like you could use it." Among other things. "And honestly, don't listen to him. None of that Miss Tyler nonsense. Miss Tyler's my mum, it's just Rose." Another pointed look in the Doctor's direction.

She was pretty certain, after the considerable amount of blushing the boy had done the night before when she offered him a space by her side, that he'd be mortified with her looking all over him. So she set the balled up sheet in the corner of the room, meaning to go find a lake or a pond or some source of water to give them a good rinse later. Blood meant little to her, all the scrapes and bits she'd gotten into with the crazy man looking down at them. "You really should get checked out, though. The Doctor is pretty handy when he wants to be."

Remus nodded some and relinquished his hold on the blankets when Rose insisted that she had them, but only smiled when she repeated her name. Rose, alright. However, the Doctor seemed to be much less informal, so when Rose announced that he was pretty handy when he wanted to be, Remus nodded his head, pale hair shifting some into his face.

"Thank you, Doctor Tyler." Whoa. Wait a minute. What? Doctor Tyler? Oh, yes, Doctor. The boy thought that you were Rose's father. "But I'm quite sure I'm alright." That never worked, though, and he knew it wasn't going to work this time, either. Why was it that people never believed him? Probably because he looked like he'd just been put into the ring in the middle of a dog fight. Hazel eyes lowered down over his body, then back to Rose, and the Doctor, who now looked less amused. What had he said?

Really, this boy was sort of nice. He was quiet, he was polite, he was unassuming, he listened to orders and most importantly? He didn't look like he was going to be much trouble. He had enough trouble dealing with Rose, he didn't need a little mini-boy version of her. He looked like he was proper, too, and--

What had he just called him?

"I'm not her father." He looked over at Rose then, took a second to look her up and down, then looked back at Remus. "Her father?" ..Yeah, okay. Maybe he could see that. But in all their time together, no one had ever assumed that. Wife. Lover. Concubine. A strange.. sexual relationship, yes. But never her father.

Rose couldn't help it. She giggled. The Doctor did look old enough to be her dad, didn't he? Age wise, he was old enough to be her great-great-great-great...well, he could be her grandfather times a lot. But she'd seen her real dad and he was certainly nothing like this. But Rose Tyler was a playful sort, and she rocked back on her heels with a grin. "Oi, Dad, quit playing with him. Can't you see the family resemblance?" Of which, there was none. They didn't even have any similar features! Of course, she could've been adopted or a step-child (her mum would love this), but it amused her just the same. "Mum said to quit denying her existance!" Just to add some fuel to the fire.

"No," she finally told Remus with a helpless smile. "He's a friend. I did mention that, didn't I? Just a mate. We do a bit of traveling together." A bit? That was an understatement, wasn't it.

"Come on, off with the shirt, then," she prompted, giggling to herself that she'd just very casually asked a boy to remove his shirt and it had nothing to do with sexual advances.

Remus had indeed flushed when he'd realized his mistake, then gave the Doctor an apologetic look, before directing his attention onto Rose once again. Off with his shirt? With a girl right there? The nice lady doctor who'd taken care of him had been a woman, of course, but she'd been a doctor, and had reason to stare at him. Rose, well... didn't.

But he was an obedient boy, if nothing else, and was letting out a slow breath, then carefully tugging the shirt from his skin and was undoing the buttons, slipping them from the slits of polyester fabric and carefully shrugging it off, over thin (but very well toned) shoulders and arms, then off completely, where he folded it and simply held on, unsure what to do with it now. But he had revealed now freshly-bleeding gashes down his chest (thanks to his tugging the fabric away), but they'd clot up in a matter of moments. It looked like something with claws had raked down his chest, and there was another healing gash along his abdomen, and a few on his forearms, one on his bicep, and he was bruised deeply in several places. But what would be more noticeable.. was that those weren't the only marks on him. He had older ones, that were healed up and turning into pink scars.. and others that were already scars.. and still more that were quite old scars. He had more marks on him than anyone should, let alone a child his age.

"I'm really alright." He insisted again, to the both of them, as his uninjured hand lifted to touch at the bleeding (but clotting) slice in the middle of his chest. They almost looked like claw marks. They did look like claw marks. They were claw marks. The young man, clearly, was a little embarrassed by this display of not only his skin, but his wounds, as well. But he hadn't refused. It wasn't really in his nature.

The Doctor just smiled off the apologetic look and nodded when Rose insisted that he take his clothes off. How else were they going to get a look at his injuries? However, when skin began to show, and the wounds were revealed, the Time Lord's smile left his face. This was only a child. Who would do this to a child? And for such a long time, as well, because some of those scars looked pretty old. And the boy-- Remus, that was his name, use his name, Doctor-- looked relatively self-conscious about it, too. He supposed he could understand why.

"What did you say happened to you, Remus?" He hadn't said, of course.. but the Doctor didn't know that. Not yet. Secrets didn't stay secrets long from the nosy Time Lord. Right, Rose?

But Rose wasn't nearly as easygoing as her placid companion often was. In fact, she was enraged. She got to her feet angrily, her gasp audible. "Oh, sweet lord..." Her hand covered her mouth in shock, but she recovered as quickly as could be expected.

"Sweetheart, you look like you've been in a knife fight!" Well, he probably would to someone who didn't recognize the marks for what they were. He didn't look like he'd been beaten. He looked like he'd been caught in a game of slice and dice. Was this kid in some sort of fancy seventies gang? Like in West Side Story? He looked so sweet. And God, had she ever met a boy his age that was so polite?

Rose grabbed one of the water bottles, knowing she'd have to deal with the repercussions later, she took the edges of his far too stained to wear any longer shirt and poured a bit of the clean water on it. Gently, tenderly, she reached forward, lightly dabbing at the fresher parts of his chest.

The werewolf let out a little breath as Rose reacted so badly to his appearance, but didn't complain, or refuse her attention, he only allowed her to take that shirt, apply her water, and dab at the injuries on his chest, mopping up the blood that was there.

No, he didn't refuse her, but he did blush deeply and shift uncomfortably where he stood. She was cleaning him up like he was a child, and more than that, she was touching his body, which made his abdominals and pectorals (not to mention his arms) tighten up. It almost tickled. Okay.. almost wasn't the right word.. it did tickle, and all he could do was bite his bottom lip and turn his face to the side to stare at the wall, and try to control the quivering in his muscles. It could have easily been mistaken for pain. But if she decided to be more gentle..? A bit slower? It'd only make it tickle worse.

Poor Rose.
