Who: Elliot Reid and OTA
What: Shoe Shopping
Where: The Thrift Shop
When: Day 16, Late Morning
Rating: PG
Status: Active

Elliot had been disappointed to read in the journals that Andy wouldn't be coming back to the church, though that had more to do with the fact that she suddenly found this place to be the creepiest place alive rather than her missing out on the breakfast he'd promised to bring back. Still, it seemed less scary in the daylight.

Or it had been until she'd sat up on her pew to find the picture of Sacred Heart sans her. She'd stared at the picture for a long time, running her fingers over the faces of her friends. JD, Turk, Carla, Dr. Cox, Janitor, even Dr. Kelso. What she wouldn't give to see any of them right now. She didn't cry, though she could feel loneliness and homesickness building in her stomach as she'd forced herself to move out the church doors and towards the Thrift Shop, the picture folded and tucked into her jacket pocket.

The sun was warm and she shrugged off her jacket half way there, throwing it over her arm as she walked. She didn't run into anyone on the way and for a moment she was scared that somehow the people in charge had wiped out everyone else, leaving her alone, but then she opened her journal and read the entries there. When she reached the Thrift Shop she pushed open the doors and started looking around for another pair of shoes. While she was at it, she could use some more clothes.

"Oh," he started and almost told her that he'd been expecting to see Luna when she turned around. Except he couldn't tell her that. It wasn't fair and so he smiled as neutrally as he could manage.

"I'm sorry, didn't mean to scare you." He reached out and touched her shoulder, both steadying himself and her with that touch. He let his hand fall away and attempted to look more in the moment with her in spite of the montage of memories he was suffering over Luna. Beers and pixie sticks. Looking at stupid clothes and leprechauns.

Dean's brows furrowed along with the memories and then the furrow deepened when she continued to talk. "Suffocated and blinded? That's not usual..." he said and frowned. He refused to think about what they'd done to him but he was concerned for her. "Are you okay?"

"It's okay," Elliot said, quickly. "I'm just a little jumpy, that's all. It's not your fault." He reached out and touched her shoulder and she forced herself to let out a deep breath to relax. She couldn't be afraid of every noise or shadow. No matter what they'd done to her.

She looked at him and thought she could see a weariness in his eyes that hadn't been there the last time she'd seen him after the earthquake. He looked older, more worn down, even though on the surface he looked much better than he had when he'd been before her with broken hands and ribs.

"Not really," she admitted, reaching up to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. "But I'm alive and unhurt, at least physically." She looked down at her feet. "I still can't believe it happened. I mean...stuff like that just doesn't happen. Not outside of movies or...it doesn't happen."
