"Mm. It's never been like this," Domeki agreed readily enough to her assumption that all of this was really quite new to him. Taking the offered basket from her hands, he mused on how he had never really experienced travel between dimensions before now - if that was indeed what had happened - but it wasn't exactly what he had expected. He had always thought that, should Yuko find a need to send him on an errand, that his mission would be clear cut and understandable, something akin to 'fetch me the relic of this-or-that from this person and bring it back - and make sure you watch Watanuki in the meanwhile'. What reality had presented him with was a confusing realm with shadowed threats and no clear purpose - and he wasn't sure how to handle any of it. He could improvise, to a point, but what worried him was what would happen once the situation moved past the point of improvisation. Would he be able to change readily enough or would he be forced to succumb?
Domeki found that he wasn't too fond of the current track which his thoughts had chosen and so he chose to distract himself. It was with great pleasure that his chosen distraction led him into the liquor store portion of the building and he began to browse with interest. There came no surprise when he realized that none of the brand names nor labels seemed all that familiar but he trusted that anything chosen from the shelves would go well enough with the wolf meat.
After a moment's deliberation, he added to his basket a bottle of what he assumed to be sake. Domeki could only hope that it would be good enough to help pass the long hours of the evening but he supposed that really didn't matter - it wasn't as if this place lent itself to any sort of restful sleep and he had little hope of actually being able to pass a full night. Finding his own thoughts seemingly mirrored in Shannon's behavior, Domeki raised his eyebrows questioningly but he again chose not to pry - he didn't yet know her well enough to really be able to ask personal questions, after all.
"Do you have someone to drink with?" Domeki asked idly. Despite appearances, he wasn't searching for an invitation - more, it just easily struck him how difficult it could be to pass a whole night drinking alone and her current mood seemed as if it would only deepen if it was left to fester through a night of hard drinking. Perhaps there was no great need to worry but Domeki knew that he'd be kicking himself later should anything happen.
An absent nod was his response to her admonishment that they needed to take their supplies back to the gym and, as he passed Shannon so that he could walk back out to the street, he casually plucked the newly opened bottle from her basket. As he walked back out to the street, Domeki took a long swig of the alcohol and he found that he liked it - the strong mint flavor insinuated that it was likely a drink meant for women but the taste wasn't unpleasant. The soft burn at the back of his throat was rather nice, too.
"Do you know the way to the gym?" He called back to her. The stolen bottle was held out in offering as he raised his eyebrows. "Or should I check my journal again?"
