Entry tags:!dropped, day 16, jack harkness, location: in town, location: thrift store, the doctor (ten)

WHO: Jack Harkness and The [Tenth] Doctor
WHAT: Jack's alarm clock has a date with a sledge hammer.
WHERE: Thrift Shop
WHEN: Day 16; 10:01 am.
RATING: Harkness & Smith. Not to be confused with Smith & Wesson
STATUS: Active

Unplugging the damn thing hadn't worked. Throwing it against a wall hadn't stopped the "EXTERMINATE" from ringing out in their room. The head-in-a-jar while slightly disturbing was able to be ignored. All they had to do was toss it in a corner and throw a shirt over it. Out of sight, out of mind.

They, however, weren't so lucky with the alarm clock. Which was why Jack had left the museum in favour of heading to the thrift store in search of something he could use to smash it to bitty-pieces. Ignoring the heat and just how heavy the coat was given the sweltering temperature, Jack headed toward the thrift store, swinging the alarm clock by the cord.

It looked like he was swinging an oddly shaped lasso over his head, humming as he walked. Jack managed to get the alarm clock to smack into various hard surfaces, from walls to trees, as he walked but nothing was shutting the thing up.

Jack needed a sledge hammer.

That smirk didn't make Jack feel any better. He looked at the Doctor, half expecting the other man to come out with exactly what he was thinking. But, then again, when would the Doctor ever do something like that. "I thought we agreed this place was already barmy. Who's to say a disembodied head couldn't wink and nod?"

Grumbling, Jack snapped the plastic wrist strap closed and pulled a face. God he hated this place -- so much. And Jack could, for once, admit he didn't know something. He never professed to know how the space sports car worked, particularly when he still preferred his space hopper thank you very much.

They made quite the pair, both in sweltering heat and wearing heavy coats -- but they were men who needed their coats dammit. "Thrift shop," Jack said, giving the alarm clock a kick. He held out the cord, lifting an eyebrow at the Doctor. "Unless you'd like to get a few hits in. Wonderful stress relief."

"Well, it's not like your head has the proper equipment for swimming or the musculature to propel it into a disembodied bobbing. The winking, I suppose, might be possible; but, that's assuming the head was a live and had enough synaptic energy to trigger the autonomic response of blinking, or winking.." That's right Doctor, pause for a breath.

He watched as Jack grumbled and snapped his wrist strap shut with a snap before directing them to the thrift shop. "Fantastic," he smiled waving off the cord. "Ah, I'm looking forward to dispatching that clock rather efficiently." He was. He really, really was. Shrugging he hiked up his sign and started walking.

"I'm thinking the other Doctor and I are going to start work on another modulator soon. Well, unless he comes up with something more clever." Was that a bit of harshness there toward his former incarnation? It was mostly due to this odd sense of jealousy he had toward the short haired, big eared, northern sounding man. Jealousy over one Rose Tyler.

Jack rolled his eyes at that though he had no way of knowing that his disembodied head would be capable of moving like that in a couple million years. At that? It was most likely better that Jack didn't know. Really much, much better. He might go into convulsions knowing what he was to become. "Or who knows what they ended up doing to that head," Jack said, shaking his own. "Haven't we learned here by now that certain things don't follow the usual rules?"

That made two of them. And just to show how nice Jack was, he'd even give the Doctor the first shot. "I'll find the hammer. The bigger the better." For good measure, Jack smacked the clock into the doorframe as he marched into the thrift store.

"Well, you know you have my help," Jack said tossing the thing unceremoniously to the floor to a muttered Exterminate. Didn't that thing ever shut up? Jack began moving through the aisles, looking for anything that would make a decent tool for smashing. "Is there anything in particular you need? I might be able to raid the museum for things to serve as coverings at the very least. Haven't explored much of it, so there's possibilities we could find some wiring if we demolish a couple of rooms." Jack's voice muffled as he bent down, then came up with a nice large sledge hammer.

"This suit for a bit of demolition? Or would it be better to take our time?"
