Who: Remy LeBeau & The Tenth Doctor
What: Hunting for food.. jackpot.
Where: The Gas Station.
When: Day 16, 1:30pm
Rating: PG-13
Status: Complete

After walking Tonks back to the Library at a very ungodly hour, Remy LeBeau had bid her good night and had walked back alone, to his barn, in the darkness, then he'd settled down in his bed and had let out a slow breath. What a night. He hoped the Doctor would come back tonight, but somehow knew he wouldn't, and had rolled over with that thought and had gone to sleep. It'd been cold, without a second person. But come morning, it had been much warmer, and he could feel a warm body next to him and it made him smile just a little. The Doctor had come back, after all. He idly smoothed a hand up over his shoulder, down his arm.. and his very muscular bicep.

Red eyes opened immediately to stare at the face across from him, but there was no face. There was no head. Nothing. And the Cajun had shouted loudly and scrambled as fast as he could back off of that large couch, falling with a thud onto the floor boards as he pushed away, staring wide-eyed and panting, gaze locked onto the headless body. He knew immediately who it was, though it took him a few moments to actually stand and go closer. After reaching out to lay his hand on that arm again, his brain registered that it was cold. He'd been dead some time, the color of his skin made that obvious. The only reason he'd been warm was because he'd been pressed up against the Cajun. The thought made his stomach turn and he had to close his eyes to hold back the wave of nausea.

It had taken him two hours to dig a hole behind the barn, having bent one of those metal chairs into a spoon type shape and used it to move the Earth, then it had taken him half an hour to wrap Logan up in the top few sheets of the bed and carry his body out behind the barn. It had taken him another hour to fill in the hole and pat it down good and hard. He didn't want something digging up the body of his former rival.

Looks like he'd won that rivalry, huh, Logan? The thought made him smirk, and he stabbed the chair into the ground as a marker, then had walked away. Only then had he really taken stock of the car in front of the barn and wrote a short journal entry about it. If someone didn't claim it soon, it was going to be his. He'd break a window if he had to, but it really was too pretty to do that. So he'd wait, for now. And after a trip to the gym, a cold shower (along with fresh clothes) and a shave, he had returned to the barn, grabbed a pillow case, and headed first to the gas station. He needed another small supply of food. His twinkies were all gone.

And when he arrived, he was treated to quite the nice surprise, and had thrown four of those MREs into his sack and some of the junk food, some gum, a few other little things.. then he was tearing open the case of water and tossing a few bottles into the sack as well. He wouldn't take the whole thing. Because he was nice. Because he didn't want the others to suffer without water. Because he knew the women would need it to keep their figures slim. Because he wanted to share. .. Okay, those were all lies. He just didn't want to carry it.

The heat wave was nice though, the Doctor's coat had been left behind in the barn and he was in just a white undershirt and a pair of torn jeans-- and, of course, his boots. He never left home without his boots, or those dark gloves on his hands.

"'Das good, don' nee' everyone bein' all upse', non? An' gon' do no one good 'cep' 'de people runnin' 'dis place, we all star' gettin' upse' an' angry, non? 'Das wha' 'dey tryin' t' do, tryin' t' break us." It was something Gambit had come to realize. "They experimen'in' on us, Docteur, bu' no' t' see how we reac' t' t'in's.. 'dey experimen'in' on us t' see how lon', an' wha' it gonna take, t' break us. T' make us give up." He smiled over at the Doctor then and lifted up his fork some. "I don' give up." And even as he said that, he was looking back down and taking another bite of his meal.

And, once the Doctor asked, Remy nodded some, then finishing chewing and lifted red eyes back to brown. "Oui, o' course. Ain' gonna le' no one sleep in y' spo', Docteur. An' I ain' really welcome lo's o' ot'er places, non?" The Cajun smiled widely then and shook his head. It was true. He couldn't go the museum, nor could he go to the gym. Not really. The Winchesters were at the gym and neither liked him.. and Jack and Shannon were at the museum, and he knew Jack had it out for him, and Shannon..? Well, that had gotten quite strange. So here he was.

"Besi'e. Woul'n' leave anyway. 'Das my home." Strange as it sounded for him to say, it was true. Everyone else actually had a home they wanted to go back to.. for the Doctor, it was his TARDIS, for the others, it was their houses, their planets, their worlds. Remy? Remy had made his home in that barn. And he wasn't leaving any time soon.

"An' you know wha' else? I saw a chile, walkin' 'roun' here, jus' 'dis mornin'. Jus' a boy. Maybe fifteen? All cu' up an' confuse' lookin'. Ain' talk t' him, he seeme' kin'a spacy.." And the red-head had felt.. well.. uncomfortable, for some reason. And he'd stayed back.

The Doctor was already fully aware that you, Remy LeBeau, do not give up. He'd experienced it time and time again. Each damned time he tried to put you on the proper path you ran right off it and into the brier patch. Each time he'd tried to get you to look up, you looked down. And when you did these things? You did them because you thought you were right and you wouldn't give that bit up. Yes, Remy, he knew.

"This isn't the time to be stubborn, Gambit," The Doctor said between mouthfuls of food. He shoved his spoon into his pouch and ignored it, turning a sideways glance right to the Cajun. "I don't think they're playing anymore."

He paused a beat. "You need to find a houseguest, then." He nodded. Fine if the barn was Remy's home, no problem. He did, however need to find someone else to stay there. Anyone else. The Doctor didn't fancy anyone but himself sleeping alone, thank you.

"A what?" The Doctor's brow quirked. "A child?" Then that same brow knitted. That just wasn't right. That just wasn't right at all.

"I go' uh house gues', he's jus' stayin' somewhere else f' uh time." He looked over at the Doctor then and smiled. Yes, he meant you. You were the only person he was going to let sleep there with him. He'd considered inviting the boy, but.. there was something very wrong with him, though the Cajun couldn't put his finger on it. He just had the urge to avoid him like the plague.. though, he had no real want to tell the Doctor that. Not yet. He thought he'd be scolded for avoiding a child.

"Oui, was wearin' shoes like yours." He pointed down at the Doctor's feet. "Same color. An' he was all ban'age up an' tire' lookin'. Kin'a looke' los'." He'd looked very lost, in fact. But he'd been left alone, wisely.
