Who: Jack Harkness and Rose Tyler
What: Reunited (and it feels so good!)
Where: Just Outside the Museum
When: Day 15, early evening, around 7ish
Rating: PG-13ish
Status: Active

When she'd first woken up in this horrible place, Rose had been able to acknowledge that it was strange. There was obviously something off about it and it didn't take a genius like her traveling companion to figure that out. Even her slower mind could follow. But now... Now, it wasn't just creepy. It was cruel. There was torture around every turn and fear in most everyone's eyes, even if they didn't show it on the surface. She'd gotten good at watching people lately, and she knew she was in serious trouble just by watching the others. They all were.

Despite warnings to not go off by herself, Rose...was, well, Rose. Going off by herself was what she did best. Right behind getting into trouble alone and getting out of trouble with help. Besides, she wasn't going far. It was getting dark, even if just barely, and she didn't trust herself to not get into real truoble. So she walked outside of the museum, the hostel style environment that the pretty Shannon had invited her to. She hadn't caught sight of Jack yet, but she knew he was around and that's all that mattered. And the Doctor...probably in there being social and meeting everything with a pulse. It was one of those things she loved about him.

Sliding down the wall in front of the building, Rose wrapped herself more tightly in her blue hooded jacket and pulled the hood over her head. She didn't do so in an effort to keep warm; this place was similar to England with its temperatures and though it was likely to get colder as it got later, she wasn't likely to freeze. But it was nice to be able to hide from so many strange faces. As kind as everyone had been, it was still the most surreal thing ever. Plus that feeling that someone was hiding something from her. It was an uneasy sensation, and she curled her arms around her knees as she held her breath and released it slowly, letting the events of the day wash over her.

Jack did indeed have standards, thank you very much. And his standards right now extended to men roughly his size, with blue eyes, dark hair and an accent to die for. A man who, if Jack wasn't careful, was going to completely screw him and what the Doctor wanted. Well, fuck.

Rose was on her own and Jack sure as hell wasn't going to help her out at all -- though, as much as he didn't want to help it seemed like he was doing a damn good job of cocking things up on his own.

Jack chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "Leave it to Shannon to introduce everyone," Jack replied with a chuckle. "He is the only one. Delectable vowels. I may say it a lot, but listening to that man talk? Make anyone go weak in the knees." Jack looked at Rose, smiling and dropping an arm around her shoulders. "So, Miss Tyler, what brings a pretty girl like you to a place like this?"

Almost instinctively, as if she'd been craving the touch, Rose leaned into his arm. And maybe she had been. Even her beloved, trusted Doctor wasn't the same in this place. Something was very, very wrong and it was like he didn't trust her with it. Usually, even if they were facing near death, he was up front and honest with her. This was a whole different rugby match.

"Well, she was the one who 'officially' invited me to crash here," Rose reminded him. "So she felt it was safer to introduce everyone. Besides, she was afraid of..." Flicking her tongue over her lower lip, Rose glanced around a bit frantically. "She was afraid of intruders, so to speak. You know. Moles, spies. The works." And yet she'd invited Rose in with no questions asked. What had Jack told her?

"So, tell me, Mr. Weak in the Knees. How well do you know this Ianto?" She nudged him gently with her elbow and grinned up at him before resuming her place with her head on his shoulder.

Jack smiled and pulled Rose in a bit closer, resting his cheek on the top of her head. So much time had separated them and yet Jack could so easily fall into this old routine. God he had missed her, perhaps more than he could possibly say and so much better to have her around -- even if he wouldn't have wanted her to ever see the horrors of this place.

Chuckling, Jack nodded. "Shannon does that. Bringing in strays and keeping us all in one place." Jack nodded curtly. "We had an interesting experience with a group of clones not too long ago. Couldn't tell who was who it was a giant clusterfuck." What had Jack told Shannon? Well, that was for Jack to know.

Oh for the love of... this was exactly why he didn't want to bring up Ianto. "I know him well enough," Jack hedged. "He works with me, actually." Well, what was the harm in bringing up Torchwood? Hopefully none. Wasn't like she'd have heard of it. "At Torchwood."

He was warm, despite the chill in the air, and Rose found herself nestling into him. "This Ianto's not going to mind me cuddling up to his better half, is he?" she asked, looking up at him before burying her face back into that warm place in his shoulder. Quite frankly, she didn't care if he did or didn't. Okay, maybe a little. But honestly! Broes over hoes. Surely he knew that.

She didn't want to be there. Who would? But honestly? She had Jack and the Doctor. She'd thought she'd left both for dead and now they were both there and she did enjoy that part. Even if they were trapped there against their will.

"Torchwood?" she questioned, eyeing him. "Is that the Time Agency? I thought you'd gone...what was it? Free-lance?" She really wasn't under the impression that he'd continued to talk to anyone he'd known there. Especially when he'd joined she and the Doctor in the TARDIS without another look back.

Jack was warm and the greatcoat (both of them, mind) helped by way of keeping the two of them warm. Shaking his head, Jack flashed Rose a quick grin. "He won't mind. He's used to it by now to be honest." Because Jack and fidelity were two things that didn't exactly go hand in hand. Never had and never would.

"Yes, Torchwood," Jack replied. "It's... a branch," he lied smoothly. She didn't need to know those little details did she? No, no she didn't. "I had gone free-lance. Answerable to no one but myself." Jack shrugged. "But trust me, when you see how good Ianto looks in a suit? You'll see why I didn't mind going back and forth."

Yes, Jack. Make it all about sex and pretend you're not head over heels in love with Ianto. Good one.

"He is really good-looking," she admitted, giggling a little. Now this? This was how she remembered it. Sitting around, talking about blokes with Jack. What had only been a couple of days for her had clearly been longer for him. She simply didn't know how long just yet.

"You're lucky he wound up here, then," she said, though she only half meant it. Would she wish her mum, or Mickey there with her? Not at all. Well... Okay, partially she didn't want Mickey there because there were plenty of good-looking blokes around and then there was the way he and Jack and he and the Doctor always bickered and went back and forth and...yeah. But no, she wouldn't want them there with her. Rose sighed, brushing her hair off of her face before resting a hand on Jack's arm. "I take it there's...more to it?" It was the most polite way she could think to ask. Well, maybe there were others. But that was her best effort.

How could he not grin at that? "Do you expect anything less from me and my standards?" Jack asked. "Like I said, the man looks fantastic in a suit, and we'll ignore the fact that he used to call that sexual harassment, shall we?" Because it wasn't really harassment when the other party enjoyed it.

Jack shook his head. "No, no I'm not." About to say something along the lines that 'I can't die but he can', Jack quickly bit that comment back. Talking about Torchwood was one thing. Talking about the fact that he couldn't die because Rose had made him this way was another. Resting a hand over hers, Jack laced his fingers through hers even as he kissed the top of her head. "More to what? This place? Torchwood? The fact that I grin when Ianto's name is mentioned? Which one?"

He was comfy. She could fall asleep there if she wasn't careful. When he kissed the top of her head, she grinned to herself. It was nice to be with him again. Even if she'd apparently lost him to an adorable Welshman. Ah, well. Technically, she was 'taken' anyway. And then there was the Doctor, who'd never been keen on her flirtations with Jack. For the better, she supposed.

"All of the above?" she teased, though her mind was racing with possibilities. "Mostly the Ianto thing. I rather meant... You know! How is he... Outside of the workplace." There, that would do it. Right? "Though that is an awfully pretty smile when his name comes up."

Jack prided himself on his abilities where comfort was concerned. He would always be the flirt, particularly with Rose. If her eyes weren't for the Doctor (and his for Ianto) Jack would have made the moves -- actual moves. Ones that would have wound up with both of them against the nearest flat surface.

"He's... Welsh." Jack couldn't help but give the cheeky reply. He wrinkled his nose, shaking his head. "You know me. I don't do this whole... thing. But it's..." Jack sighed and looked at Rose. The woman who had always been his confidante. "It's different, I suppose."

If asked, Rose wouldn't deny having wanted those moves at one point or another. But the Doctor was a jealous sort, whether any of them knew it or not. The vibe he'd given off had clearly said this flirtation between the two of them was off limits. Not that it had ever stopped them on that level, but it had never gone any further.

Besides. Jack had his Welshman now! As strange as that sounded. It seemed as though he'd known him forever, but he and Rose had confessed an awful lot of things in those quiet moments in the TARDIS, and a gorgeous Welshman named Ianto had never come up.

The expression he gave, the nearly pleading tone... "You're completely mad about him, aren't you?" she sputtered, amusement creeping into her voice. Jack Harkness? In love? "I never thought I'd see it! Oh, you wonderful, adorable man, you're head over heels for this one!" Giggling, her cheeks turned pink. "I just meant the sex!" she admitted.

Oh Rose could deny all she wanted but Jack knew the truth: she wanted him. Who didn't, in the end? No one... that's who. Yes, knowing the Doctor's feelings would have stopped him, but he would forever continue to push that envelope where propriety was concerned.

Yes, Jack did have his Welshman, but he was a Welshman who understood Jack's need for being with other people from time to time. God, what an interesting relationship they had. No, a Welshman never would have come up -- because that Welshman was from far into Jack's future at that point.

"I am not," Jack protested weakly. Why was it Rose Tyler could manage to get such things out of him when even Ianto couldn't? "No, I'm nothing of the sort. He's a fantastic shag and looks damn wonderful in a suit. Three pieces are the preferred, but two aren't bad."

Rose merely smirked. He could deny it all he wanted, but she knew him. She knew him from hours spent gossiping and whispering and sneaking in pranks and goodies behind the Doctor's back. Those eyes, that smile, and of course, his protesting the fact.

"So you are shagging him," she said with a grin, leaning back a bit to study him. "Should've known that much. But...wow." Impulsively, she hugged his arm, just because she was already leaning on it. "Does he know? You're not doing the whole repressed feelings thing, are you? Making him think he's just around for the late night lovins?" Her voice was teasing, but she was honestly just trying to help. Really! "I'd think three pieces would just be more to take off," she added innocently.

Oh for the love of...

"Well, of course I'm shagging him," Jack said, rolling his eyes skyward. "I think it'd be more unusual if I wasn't shagging him and we merely met once a week for tea and crumpets." Saying Jack was in a purely platonic relationship was... well, impossible. He still snuck kisses with Rose when he could.

Jack shook his head. "See a waistline in a waistcoat and you'll agree with me." He said nothing about whether or not Ianto knew. Because he did, and that was all that mattered in the end, wasn't it? "Does he know he looks good in a suit? Yes. He's called me on sexual harassment on more than one occasion."

Rose was laughing helplessly by then, burying her head in Jack's arm to smother the sound. All she needed was one of the others, namely Ianto, to come running out wondering what was wrong. Then she'd never stop laughing.

When she caught her breath, she shook her head and smiled up at him. "Jack, you're impossible, you know that? You've finally got something wonderful and you're going to deny it on me. That's really not fair." That tiny part of her knew they could have had something wonderful, but she wouldn't have been nearly as okay with Jack's...extracurriculars. Which is why they were better for the occasional flirtation than settling down. No one could ever get Jack to manage that, she was nearly certain.

"You're a terrible co-worker, then. Lemme guess, sex on the desk and everything?" If he didn't want to get all heartfelt...well, no, it wasn't fine. Rose needed someone to live vicariously through. But she'd settle. Maybe.

Actually, Jack wouldn't mind if Ianto came out at this point in time. Oh how easily he could angle for a threesome -- Jack knew full-well that Ianto would be up for it. Which was, in a word, fantastic to have a lover that flexible; in more ways than one.

He did, however, poke her in the side when she started laughing. Coupled soon after with him tickling the ever-living crap out of her. He was going to have fun with her, that's what Rose was for afterall. "I never said I had anything wonderful. I just said I had a fantastic shag. You're the one reading through the lines." Lies, Captain Harkness, all lies. "What exactly do you want to hear from me? That I'm head over heels and madly in love with the bloke? Puh-lease."

Jack shook his head. "I'm not a terrible co-worker. I'm a terrible boss. Ianto is one of my employees." He just grinned. "Desk, anywhere in the Hub, the showers in the lower levels. Just tended to stay away from the cells. Handcuffs are one thing, but could never get the stench of Weevil out and it really ruins the mood."

"Stop it, stop it, stop it!" she demanded, swatting at his hands. "You behave, or I'm telling!" Who she'd tell remained to be seen. She had no idea just how...flexible Ianto was. But the Doctor? Not quite so flexible. Though hopefully he'd just be so happy to see Jack in this awful place that he'd let it go.

"I'm reading through the lines because I'm right!" she insisted, grinning. But how could he be his boss? That didn't make any sense at all. Free lance Time Agents didn't lead people. They led people on, mind you. On trips hurtling through space to London. But that was completely besides the point. The point was, what was a Hub and how did a Welshman get there with a 51st century Time Agent?

Again, she didn't ask questions, merely let her curiousity absorb. She'd attempt to piece it all together later. "You're a sleeze, you know that? Have you two ever even bothered to use a bed?"
