Who: Leonard Church and OTA
What: Church comes out of hiding.. well, sort of.
Where: The thrift shop
When: Day 15, 9:00 a.m.
Rating: R, always, for his mouth
Status: Active

After arriving in town, Church had successfully ditched one of the two people he’d landed here with just a few minutes after meeting him. But really, he should have stuck with Kirk. Because the woman he’d been stuck wandering around with the night before was annoying, bitchy, and a little touch insane. And she acted like she knew all there was to know about him. All in all, she was a pain in the ass. So he’d ditched her, as well. He didn’t know exactly what he was getting himself in to (or out of, rather) by leaving Tex behind the next morning as he’d gone out to explore the town, but he had left her. And throughout the course of the day (it certainly had been an odd day), he hadn’t found her again… so he’d gone back to sleep in one of the aisles of the thrift shop.

And that was where Leonard Church would wake up, after his second night in this new, strange place. The only people he’d run into had been the people he had met upon first arriving, because he’d made an effort to try to keep his head clear the day after… and really, he had the same intentions, today. He thought about going back out into the woods to look for a way out of this town. He couldn’t remember where he had been before this, and he had no idea where he was now, but he wasn’t all that interested in asking around for help, either.

So he hadn’t. He had gone back to the thrift store, which was oddly unoccupied, and had pulled off various clothing items and made a bed in the center aisle. He didn’t feel right without any light armor or weapons, but he also knew that he was more than capable of handling any physical confrontation that came his way.. Church knew what he was, after all. He didn’t need a short term memory to know that. So there hadn’t been too much apprehension about falling asleep in a foreign place (especially since he’d already been there a night), and when he woke up in the morning he pushed off the pile of jeans he’d been using to keep warm before getting up to his feet, lifting a hand to run through short hair as he looked around the shop. He really should think of finding something to eat.

Church was definitely something formidable, as well. Generally, Spartans like him were more formidable in their two ton MJOLNIR armor and their weapons at their sides, but Church... well, he wasn't exactly the best shot in the world, so he had adapted more to physical, melee combat. And he'd excelled at it. Even without his armor, he was very gifted in hand to hand combat, though that probably had something to do with the experimentation he'd been through. The hormones, the metal grafted to his bones to make them virtually unbreakable, the capacity his body had for pain.. but again, where Church was from, he and the other Spartans were the only ones who were capable of the things he was capable of doing. He didn't know that there were other people, other creatures besides the ones he knew. He didn't know anything about any sort of special abilities, nothing of the sort. He wasn't a big fiction reader, either, so he didn't have much of an imagination. It would be very easy for him to underestimate anyone here.. and he surely would, sooner or later.

"Pants, huh?" He looked him over again, not fond of the idea of getting to know any of the people in this place, but this man was ugly enough.. the ugly ones always seemed to be the least threatening. They tended to have smaller amounts of self esteem, which was a good quality when around Church, who tended to want to take over any given situation. "Well, I hope you brought some money. I'm not going to give them to you for free."

What? Church was trying to sell him the clothes here? Well.. yeah. Why wouldn't he? He'd been here two nights and hadn't seen a store owner. Why not take advantage of such a blatant business opportunity? Yeah. Church was setting up shop here, until he could figure out what he was going to do. A man had to eat, right?

Rorschach's eyebrows rose steadily higher as he listened to this young giant. He seriously thought that Rorschach had money? And that he was going to spend it when no one else had to?

Rorschach didn't much like that idea. Cracking his weathered knuckles, he narrowed his eyes. "Don't plan to pay for pants. Must be new here; don't understand how things work. People inside glass box take what they need. No ownership, no money." he waited to see if this wannabe tyrant was going to challenge that. If he did, he really did have a lot to learn about Vas Captio.

Leonard tilted his head as he was told that no, the man wasn't going to pay, and then took a slow step forward towards the very, very ugly man standing in front of him. Yes, he was new here. Things might have been one way.. but if he was going to be spending any prolonged period of time in this place, whatever and wherever it was, he was going to be playing by his rules. Or at least he though he would be.

"I am new here. Don't understand how things might work here, but I know how things work with me. And this shop," He gestured with a hand, lifting his brows before looking back to the short, stocky man, "Is mine. Don't think you're special or anything, you're not. Everyone's going to have to start paying. But since you're my first customer, I'll give you a deal." His mouth curled up into a grin. "Three pairs of pants for... what's the currency here?"

At this, Rorschach's usually wooden face couldn't help but break into a very slight smile. This made him no less ugly, but it was certainly interesting. He was starting to wonder if more than half of this man's brain cells were functional.

"Can't be in charge if can't understand how things work," he said, his gruff voice matter-of-fact. "Is ridiculous to think otherwise. Backward logic I can't respect. Shop is not yours. Probably nothing here to fit huge thighs, anyway." Rorschach, unruffled, stepped past the huge man and started looking for a pair of suitable pinstriped slacks. He was surprised at the relatively decent selection

Church, of course, wasn't as much of an idiot as he made himself sound. Church was actually very intelligent - his training dictated it, though he had always been more rowdy and a touch more uncontrollable than the other Spartans. There was a reason for this, of course.. but Leonard couldn't even remember his given nickname, let alone the fact that he wasn't really a man at all.. but that was all a story for another time.

"I think you're the one who doesn't understand how things work." When Rorschach tried to move past him, Leonard snapped a long arm up to push his hand into the shelf, blocking him from moving forward towards the rack of pants. "Let's be reasonable, hm? I don't want any trouble.. just trying to make an honest living."

Rorschach blinked. His bored expression never changed, but occasionally, it looked even more bored.

"No such thing as honest living, here. Are lucky if you live at all," Rorschach said, shaking off Leonard's arm. "Will break two of your fingers if you persist with stupidity. Is no money here. We take what we need." Rorschach hated repeating himself, but who knew? Maybe this time, the idiot would actually get it.
