Entry tags:!complete, day 15, shannon rutherford, the doctor (nine)

Who: The Ninth Doctor and Shannon
What: He wakes up, none-too-pleased.
Where: The Post Office
When: 12:16 PM, Day 15
Rating: PG-13
Status: Complete

The Doctor had had a very trying day so far. First, he had to rescue Rose from the time vortex, thus killing his proper body and starting up a regeneration for a new one; then, the regeneration had been abruptly stopped and he'd ended up in a dark room with a strange girl; on top of that, it had turned out that the room hadn't been dark, he'd been blinded, and had been smeared with blood and pushed towards a fire; to make matters even worse, he and the girl had then been split up, and he'd been put with a man named Jim. And he wasn't even getting into that. That was a story for another time. And now, here he was, waking up on the dirty ground, next to.. a white building. He lifted a hand to rub at his head and slowly sat up, studying the structure a long moment before he saw the words 'Post Office' on it and the Doctor lifted his eyebrows curiously. Up onto his feet (with a dusting of his pants and jacket) and he was pushing his hands through his pockets again, as if to check once more for the Sonic Screwdriver that he knew wouldn't be there. At least it could have been replaced with a banana. He liked bananas. Bananas were good.

He pulled his hands from his pockets after finding nothing there and turned to look around. Clearly, he was in a town. A town that looked like it was out of the nineteen fifties. But how had he ended up here? And where was Rose? Blue eyes focused onto the clock tower looming only about fifty feet away, before he looked at the large building across from him and then around once again. There certainly was plenty of forest, but something in the air tasted funny. This wasn't going to be good at all. Whoever had been able to take him from his TARDIS, from his regeneration, and put him here, had to be pretty powerful. And pretty smart. But he'd been in worse scrapes before (had he really? .. Maybe not..) and he would get out of here. He just needed to figure out what was going on.

Blue eyes lowered again, taking note of his shoes. Oh, they were singed. He hadn't realized just how hot that fire was. He was going to need new shoes. But he'd need the TARDIS for that.. And it was then that he noticed the little survival box, crouching down next to it so he could have a look. "What have we got here?" He mused allowed as the water, then the socks, the matches and the book were all pulled out. Hm. Well, they were all tossed back into the box and he lifted it up, tucking it under his arm. That could come in useful, later. Now.. where to?

It might've been a particular rogue gust of wind or it might've been the grin and cheerful demeanor despite the situation, but Shannon shivered against a chill, drawing the blanket in even tighter around herself. "Yeah, pretty much. Every day, just about," she replied, giving him a weak smile in return. "Usually, though, in pairs and small groups. It's weird if you're by yourself..." she muttered mostly to herself.

The smile turned apologetic and she shrugged. "I don't know. Some of us call it Vas Captio like it says on the front of that box," she replied, gesturing toward his kit again. "Some of us, like me, just call it The Glass Cage. Sam says they both mean pretty much the same thing only one is in English and the other in Latin, but...that's kind of all we know about where we are," she admitted.

When he responded to her greeting, Shannon nodded and smiled, opening her mouth to say "likewise," when her smile fell away and she took a step back. "No you're not," she snapped. Her brows knit and her jaw set. "And PS, you're a crappy clone," she added with a snotty attitude. "The last clone looked way more like him; you're not even close. Your hair's wrong, your face is wrong, your jacket is all wrong and...your accent is totally off," she finished, giving him a challenging expression. Like hell they were going to get her twice. It was bad enough she'd been stupid enough to fall for the clone that had looked like the Doctor, but this one was all wrong. "You should go back and tell your people that they suck at life and should pay better attention in the designing process."

With that, she rolled her eyes and shook her head, looking up at the sky. "Thanks for the insult," she shouted. "I'm not as stupid as I look, assholes. Thanks for playing; please try again," she finished angrily before starting away, brushing roughly past the man claiming to be her friend. "Find your own fucking way," she called over her shoulder at the man, pulling the blanket tighter still around herself and ducking her head against the cold air blowing at her face.

The Doctor opened his mouth to respond to her 'Not you're not', but then shut it when she started into her angry monologue. Crappy clone? He didn't even look like him? What? His face? What was wrong with his face? A hand came up to touch his jaws, then at his nose, before he lowered his hand and looked at her in a rather confused manner. Wait. What? His people? The frown on his face was plain to see while she continued on, about the designing process and the insult, and her being stupid, and.. what?

He turned slightly when she brushed past him and stared as she walked away, brow furrowing as he did. A hand lifted to rub the back of his head, before he looked forward again and his eyebrows lifted. Well, this place was clearly full of nutters. Had he ended up inside a town that doubled as a mental facility? Was this like Fhop, the world of the insane? She hadn't looked that crazy, but then again, he supposed that nutters could look very normal. With that thought, a smile spread out on his face and he began walking again, in the opposite direction the woman had gone. He was stuck in an unknown town on an unknown world with nutters. He wondered if the City Hall would be full of them too.

"Fantastic." Was all he had to say about it, though there was cheer in his voice.
