Day Thirteen - Mid-morning
Who: Andy Gallagher and OTA
What: Andy goes back "home."
When: Mid-morning (around ten or eleven)
Where: The Church
Rating: PG-13 for language
Status: Incomplete; dropped

When Andy woke up that morning and found that the gym was back in one piece, he blinked hard, shook his head, and then furrowed his brow in confusion as he took it all in. So much for bonding over having to help Lexie clean the place up. Not that he minded not bonding over something so tedious, of course, it was just the principal of the matter. His eyes scanned the room to see previously bloody and broken people with no blood and no injuries. Looking down at himself, he saw that the previously gory looking jeans that had been covered in blood were back to their muddy post-Cold Oak state and when he touched the spot on his jeans that was once soaked through from the wound beneath, he found absolutely no pain. No itching. No stinging. Nada. He'd gone to the locker room to drop trou and check and, sure enough, the wound was healed entirely. It was like he'd never run into the cougar at all.

Chipper and able again, Andy decided it was time to get the hell out of the gym and go "home," or rather what had fast become home. The church. First food, then the church, he amended. He'd made his way to the gas station and stocked up on granola bars, potato chips, candy bars, water, and, well...weed. It was weird not seeing Bob in there because he was pretty sure that was where the guy had said he was staying, but maybe he'd been mistaken. He'd have to ask him next time they crossed paths or maybe in the journals.

By the time he got back to the church he was wet and tired because he'd walked almost halfway across town in the rain. It wasn't pouring the way it had been back when he'd first shown up in this place, but it wasn't as nice as it had been the day before and the day of the earthquake, which was, you know, kind of a bummer. He hadn't minded the sunshine, honestly. It almost made this place more tolerable.

Letting himself back inside, he looked around. It was like coming back home after a really shitty vacation, he thought to himself. Not a relief because it meant getting back to reality, but also not unpleasant because it meant forgetting the past few days of misery. It was empty and Andy was reminded of the fact that he was nothing more than a pit stop for pretty girls before they found something, someplace, and someone better. He wondered if Elliot would come back. Kim, he thought, wouldn't because she'd found someone from her real world life. Though, he'd seen Elliot treating Dean at some point or another and figured to himself that with his current streak of bad luck, it was only a matter of time before Elliot took up with the older Winchester.

After rolling a joint - okay, four joints - Andy went back outside and sat down on the stairs, staring out into nothingness as he took hit after hit on the thing, taking the smoke into his lungs like oxygen. His head was swimming already; the stuff was fucking primo, for one thing, and for another, Andy hadn't gone this long without getting high since he was a teenager. It hit him a little hard.

I should get in the damn journal and see how everybody is... he thought absently. And maybe ask Sam if he and his girlfriend or whatever wanna move in since it's getting old living here alone and shit...huh...

The sky was cloudy and Andy stared up at it, watching the shapes and lack thereof swirling miles above. For the first time in two weeks, he felt completely relaxed. The wound he'd incurred fighting - all right, running from - the cougar was gone, he was smoking a joint, and was feeling a glorious high.

As he watched the clouds roll, he liked to pretend that the place wasn't real; Cold Oak had been a nightmare. Maybe that kid Sid wasn't too far off - maybe all of this really was a bad trip of some kind. Pondering that unlikely possibility made Andy both happy and sad. Happy, because if it was a trip, eventually he would have to come back down and it would all be over. He might be coming down now, actually, which would explain why the wound was gone.

But, on the other hand, if it wasn't real, then neither was the fucked up and slightly quaint life he'd somehow managed to build here. Luna, Lexie, Elliot...George, Tonks, Martha...would all be figments of his imagination. Nothing more than a lie. A beautiful, comfortable lie, but a lie, all the same.

The sound of a familiar voice pulled his focus away from the clouds and his bittersweet train of thought. He looked back at the source of the voice and was fairly surprised to see Luna there after her second reappearing-disappearing act two days before the earthquake. The first, of course, being the day that Lexie had knocked him out to stitch his leg. Come back to take the rest of your crap? he wondered, since he'd noticed that some of her things had gone missing after she'd flipped the hot-cold switch on him again.

There were a million things he wanted to say to her. A million things he wanted to ask, even. "Hey," was all he could manage.
