It would be, he mused, if he had some company. And not just any company either, but good company. Good, fun, hot company. Because then he'd have an excuse to actually be out here in the middle of effin' nowhere and he'd have a reason to be investigating. Instead, he was roaming around without a single clue as to what he was even doing here, much less how he got here in the first place. But so far, the only other people he had seen were the two he had woken up with. Ugh, even just thinking that made his skin crawl. Not to be misunderstood, the girl was hot. Extremely so.

Sexy and fit and built. And just plain sexy. But her male companion was a different story and he seemed to love making a general ass of himself. Jim shrugged it off and pushed them out of his thoughts. He had other things to worry about it then a disgruntled clown who had nothing better to do than try to assert his 'masculinity' by picking fights. Not thinking about this anymore, he reminded himself and looked around at his surroundings. Everything looked the damn same to him, it was trees around trees, around more trees. And to make matters worse, he couldn't see anything above them.. maybe if he climbed one he might be able to see a building..

Without a second thought (besides, I'd better not die), he picked a large tree and put his kit at the base of it. The trunk was thick and sturdy. He grabbed a branch as high as he could reach and began his climb up. Jim kept climbing quickly until several branches under his left foot snapped loudly and fell to the ground. He slowed his progress but managed to make it above most of the foliage and looked out, another branch snapping. He could see.. something that looked distinctly like a tower.. a clock tower? Kirk mused and looked closer around, noticing a small building that looked more like a shack than anything else near the path he had been walking on. He let out a frustrated sigh before he felt the branches below his feet trembling. "Oh shh--" his words got caught in his throat as both the branches snapped under his feet, and he fell, landing on a sturdier branch, right between his legs.

"OHH SHIT," he groaned, turning over and landing on the ground on his feet before toppling over. Owww, he cried mentally, cradling his jewels pathetically. Did he already mention he was not having a good time?

He could feel Little Kirk crying.

Shannon cleared her throat. "I'm sorry, 'training mission?'" she asked, looking at the man who had introduced himself as Leonard. Training mission didn't make any sense to her and she gave him a look that clearly illustrated her doubtful confusion. "The only thing this place is good in training us for is how to wish we were home," she added.

The more the two men talked, the more she was positive they knew one another. Suddenly, she felt very much the third wheel and took a reflexive step back without even registering the fact that she'd done it.

But then Jim addressed her directly and she shrugged. "It's...whatever," she replied awkwardly. "Should I...leave...?" she wondered aloud, eyes flitting back and forth between the two men. Their silent communication with one another was not lost on her and she knew the feeling of wishing someone would leave when they couldn't take a hint. Shannon didn't want to be that girl.

Bones looked away from Kirk and back to Shannon, canting his head at her response. "Well, all the damned training missions are good for that..." He was serious. They were all good for making you wish you were back in your bad asleep and not doing whatever it was they wanted you do to. They could make a training mission out of eating ice cream and you wouldn't want to be doing that, either.

"Yesterday. They dropped me off yesterday. With this silly bag and a couple of kids."

McCoy crossed his arms. He knew better than to try and come in any manner of thought between Jim Kirk and a blonde. So, he wouldn't, he'd take up a station next to a tree and wait it out. She seemed nice enough; though, she left Bones feeling like he'd stepped in on the middle of one of Kirk's epic pick-up lines. Epic if you meant the sort that made you roll your eyes and shake your head and wonder how the hell he ever pulled any of them off.

"So," he said pointedly to Shannon. "How long you think they plan on keeping us here?" He asked because he really had some important things to get back to. Like logs. And charts. And whiskey.

Yesterday. Jim rubbed the back of his head and thought back to his morning with the two super soldiers. The whole situation was a little exasperating to say the least. He let out a sigh, feeling the stress dragging it out longer than it was intended. If this was a training mission, once it was over.. forget about not being a happy camper, he was going to be flat-out bitching. This was ridiculous!

His thoughts came to a halt.

And he drew his eyebrows together, feeling suddenly very much like a vexed captain. Jim thought they'd come to an understanding!! Sure, they weren't exactly buddies, but-- that pointy-eared bastard! This had to be his doing!! One of his hardcore simulations or something? He couldn't believe this, he was probably still miffed that Jim had kicked him out of the captain chair, that little vengeful green--

Jim simmered quietly, his hands on his hips as he had a penchant of doing, before Bones started speaking again. He took the hint and turned his attention to Shannon too, figuring they would talk about it eventually. If that bastard's behind this..

He waited until Shannon answered, "What does it matter? At least we're in gorgeous company!" His smile was quirky as he looked over at Shannon.
