Entry tags:!complete, day 12, insider, location: underground tunnels, remy lebeau, the doctor (ten)

Day 12: 2nd Meeting
Who: Insider & Remy LeBeau [open to The Doctor at some point maybe?]
What: 2nd Meeting
When: 1pm
Where: The tunnels under the gas station
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

It wasn't as easy to make it into the tunnels in the daylight. It required some sort of diversion because there was no way someone wouldn't notice the Insider creeping away from the group. Especially not with the perception that had been given as to the nature of the injuries suffered during the earthquake. It was difficult too to climb down the ladder once privacy had been attained and the trap door opened into the floor of the back room of the building. Injuries were still evident even if not as severe as they'd been played out to be.

In the alcove down two turns away from the ladder, the Insider found and donned the shapeless black jacket. Slipping the mask and night vision goggles from inside the pockets, they were slid into place and adjusted to ensure no hair or any other distinguishing features were evident. The Insider didn't trust Remy not to be there with a light of some sort this time. Now that things had been planned in advance through the journals. It was a risk to go and see him but that was something the Insider was willing to deal with.

Creeping through the darkness was a chore as the medication for pain wore slowly off. It would have been better had this taken place after medication rounds but there was no helping it. The gas station was close by and the Insider stopped short, waiting and listening around the bend from the suggested rendez-vous spot. Breath was held for a long moment before finally speaking in the low, growl of the previous meeting. "Cajun man. Charmer. Are you there?"

"What would you call what you just did then?" she asked defiantly. Her hands moved to rest on her hips and dark curls bobbed about her shoulders now. "You can't tell me that he won't take the first opportunity to tell everyone who I am. Then it'll be an all out hunt for me. I thought you wanted to protect me, Remy." Her jaw was set but her lips trembled.

"I'm not going up there. You can kill me yourself if you have to but I'm not exposing myself any more than I already have. Thanks to you," she responded, her voice acidic even as she looked him in the eye. It would have been nice to convince herself that he had only meant good and it had backfired but there was no way he could not not have known that bringing in the Doctor would have ruined everything for her. Especially since he'd spent so much effort keeping her from running away and not stopping the Doctor from going up to expose her if he saw fit.

"I call it savin' your ass, chile." He returned in a suddenly firm, snappish tone. He had, of course, been referring to the wood plank that had exploded. That, though, like everything else tonight, had been his fault. He'd come to realize, in his short life, that most things turned out to be his fault. Merde. "I am tellin' you," his voice was more quiet this time around, whispered. It wasn't tired, though, just hushed. "I ain' gon' tell no one. Why woul' I? You ain' done not'in' wron'. You ain' don' not'in' but scare' some people. Ain' no crime. Merde, you ain' evil, girl. Look at you. Why 'de hell woul' hur' you? Sick fucks, Chere. An' much as I wish I was, I ain' no sick fuck." Even with that said, he was shaking his head again, mentally cursing himself. This was your fault, Cajun. He'd managed to screw up this girl-- his InitiƩ-- Jenny's entire livelihood. Not only that, but he'd made the Doctor mad again.

Why did everything he touched, either explode or turn to shit?

The smile that came across his face then was crooked and self-depreciating for a few seconds, before it lifted into something easier. "Ain' gon' kill you. Ain' gon' give you 'way. Gon' keep your secre', an' gon' make sure 'de Doct'r keep your secre'. No one gotta know. L'InitiƩ ain' gon' be 'roun' no more. People gon' t'ink he die'. En' o' story. No one gonna come af'er you. An' you ain' gotta hide no more. Not from 'de ot'ers an' not from me."

Jenny had been so quick to react to his command to go up that she hadn't completely processed his statement about being herself and not acting like she hadn't kissed him. Or that he'd corrected himself and said "whoever" she'd kiss but that he wouldn't be above snapping the person's neck. She almost giggled then as it sank in. Did he really think like that? Possessively? Certainly not possessive over her. No, it had to be over the "Insider" because the Insider had been the one he'd kissed. She remembered those moments and unconsciously licked her lower lip.

She jumped, startled out of her near smile by his snappish tone. Her eyes went slightly wide and she shrank back. It had certainly been better when he hadn't known who she was. Hadn't seen that she was just a small, girl with a stitched up face that had once been pretty. Her face hurt and she tried to relax the frown out of her features but it was so unnatural to do that when she was so pissed off. Still, it might appear to Remy that she was softening. Becoming more compliant. He'd be wrong.

"Are you happy now that you've 'saved' me only to be sure to unmask me in front of the Doctor? Are you happy to know who I am, Remy?"

She watched him smile and felt some of her anger slip away from her as he did that. Which was hugely frustrating because if she couldn't hold her anger toward him, how could she stand her ground and refuse to just do whatever he told her to do? How could she be indignant and continue to not trust him if he could charm her with nothing more than a smile. She knew his power was more than just a mutant ability. He'd honed and perfect the art of influencing others. He was influencing her and she both hated it and wanted him to continue doing it.

"How are you going to ensure the Doctor doesn't expose me, Remy? Do you have mind control capabilities that somehow got missed in the files? Are you mentally restraining him as he walks away now?" Jenny asked, her voice quieter now, less acidic. Tears crept into her tone again and she forced them back. This was such a mess.
