Entry tags:!complete, day 12, insider, location: underground tunnels, remy lebeau, the doctor (ten)

Day 12: 2nd Meeting
Who: Insider & Remy LeBeau [open to The Doctor at some point maybe?]
What: 2nd Meeting
When: 1pm
Where: The tunnels under the gas station
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

It wasn't as easy to make it into the tunnels in the daylight. It required some sort of diversion because there was no way someone wouldn't notice the Insider creeping away from the group. Especially not with the perception that had been given as to the nature of the injuries suffered during the earthquake. It was difficult too to climb down the ladder once privacy had been attained and the trap door opened into the floor of the back room of the building. Injuries were still evident even if not as severe as they'd been played out to be.

In the alcove down two turns away from the ladder, the Insider found and donned the shapeless black jacket. Slipping the mask and night vision goggles from inside the pockets, they were slid into place and adjusted to ensure no hair or any other distinguishing features were evident. The Insider didn't trust Remy not to be there with a light of some sort this time. Now that things had been planned in advance through the journals. It was a risk to go and see him but that was something the Insider was willing to deal with.

Creeping through the darkness was a chore as the medication for pain wore slowly off. It would have been better had this taken place after medication rounds but there was no helping it. The gas station was close by and the Insider stopped short, waiting and listening around the bend from the suggested rendez-vous spot. Breath was held for a long moment before finally speaking in the low, growl of the previous meeting. "Cajun man. Charmer. Are you there?"

Grabbed again, she felt herself begin to crumple. It was next to impossible to release herself from the grip as had already been demonstrated. She gasped as her body was moved thanks to the man's hand on her arm. She wanted to pull away. Run into the darkness and disappear forever because this had been the worst idea in her life. How had she been so stupid as to allow herself to be trapped by a man. A man! The last time she'd felt peace with a man had been when the Doctor had spent time with her in the library. Now even that was gone.

Unless she had a chance to escape before the Doctor turned and saw her face. Maybe if she could be gone before the Doctor decided to see who exactly had been behind the mask...

But Remy had her arm and there she was, dark hair spilling out about her shoulders. Her face exposed and her body forfeit to the Cajun's grip. "How could you?" she asked quietly. "He'll kill me now."

The Doctor gave pause to Gambit's call, looking over his shoulder. The absolute last thing he wanted to see was the Insider dragging Remy off into the fire. What he actually saw was second to last.

Flames that had been raging high along the floor had settled down significantly. So much so that the Doctor had to strain to make out the figure. The de-masked figure.

"Bard..." He'd said quietly. He didn't need to do anything. As he'd predicted the Insider would do all the hitting themselves. They'd bring their own world crashing down around them. It appeared that she'd managed just that.

Turning again the Doctor didn't have anything more to say. Not one word. No. He was going to climb out of this pit and get back to doing what mattered - getting the people out of here.
