Entry tags:!dropped, day 12, jack sparrow, location: gym, merope gaunt

Who: Merope & Captain Jack Sparrow(lol)
Where: The Gym
Why: Because, it'll be awesome?
When: Day 12, 12pm
ay,

Merope was feeling a little better than yesterday, she could move around an even stand without difficulty. Making sure there was no one to scold her, she slowly left the Gym for a second time and found a place not too far from it where she could sit on the grassy spot outside. Her arms stretched over her head and she just set there with the sun baring down on top of her head.

Her loneliness was a double-edge sword; sometimes she hate being alone and other times she loved sitting by herself to enjoy the elements when she wanted to. Long black hair was pulled back, out of her pale face for once.

Taking slow, deep breaths from the nice air.

Jack had been standing around in the wings of the gym for a little while, watching the people from a distance with some distaste. He didn't want to get roped into helping take care of anyone, that was for certain. But he also wasn't sure he could leave the poor little winged woman all by herself in that den of the wounded. So he was sticking close, not wandering too far away for her sake. Or perhaps his own. She was an adventure and he hadn't seen much in this place yet to indicate it wasn't just a sleepy little, land-locked, boring town.

He left the gym after a while and trudged slowly, aimlessly around the building. He had found another bottle of rum somewhere. Perhaps someone had thought it would be a good idea to have it on hand for a surgery if the ether ran out. Or whatever it was the doctors and their bizarre machinery used.

That was why he was at least one sheet to the wind by the time he saw the black-haired girl sitting in the grass. He ambled over to her with a friendly smile, his fingers wiggling somewhat effeminitely as he waved to her. "Good day to you, lass. What fine weather we're having." Then he flopped down beside her in a messy Indian-style seating arrangement. "Hello."

Merope felt someone coming by listening to the sound of the small grassy area moving around. She peaked one eye opened and widened as she saw...this character standing there, then sitting there. Her eyes widened a little and she curiously moved a little to make room for him, she perked to his accent as he'd been from U.K. This made her lightly smirk,"I like it too, hi." She finally turned to Jack so she was facing him.

Her mismatched eyes looked him over,"Where is your accent from?" She tilted her head, not completely sure which version it was.

Jack swayed slightly, his arm coming in contact with hers briefly before he settled in a more stable position. He took a gulp or two from the bottle, his eyebrows lifted as he watched her around the bottle. She was a funny little thing, wasn't she with those mismatched eyes. Not exactly timid but not brash and brazen in the mode of other women he was used to.

"Ah well that's a very long story. Suffice to say it's a little bit from here and a little bit from there. And some places best not mentioned to a lady," he answered her question in a slow drawl of his words. He wasn't actually drinking as much as he seemed to be. He wondered if she would catch on. "Would you like some?" he asked, holding the bottle to her.

Merope looked down as his arm brushed against hers, she frowned slightly. Her eyes watched him as he was started drinking right in front of her, the smell of the rum making her uncomfortable an nervous. Merope's father had been an alcoholic and it made her fearful of what Jack might have up his sleeve besides the rum.

"A..A lady?" Her hand touched her chest, she could hardly believed he actually used the word lady when describing her. She'd never heard the term used to describe her and she shook her head,"..I..have heart problems, I don't think it is smart right now." She made a frown,"....What is your name?"

Merope had nothing to fear from this happily soused pirate. Jack was being Jack and he smiled at her, eying her hair and then her clothes. "I'd say a lady. Oh. You're not a eunuch are you?" he asked, leaning slightly toward her as if he might be able to tell whether she were male or female a bit better if he did that. He was pretty sure she was a lady. But he'd been fooled before. Oh what a bad memory. He smiled again and leaned back.

"Suit yourself. Wouldn't want you to keel over and waste the rum." He winked because he was teasing her a little. "I, m'lady, am Captain Jack Sparrow. You may have heard of me. I've sailed the seven seas and found a hundred treasures. And who might you be then?"

Merope liked that, he smiled at her, complimented her and teased her a little even. She peered back at him, her eyes slightly wide like an owl, trying to take in everything. A smile even breaking, just barely on her face from how he spoke and acted. "No..I'm not." She waved at him, offering a light, yet playful, push to his arm.

She moved a little closer, like a curious cat and turned her attention to him. "Oh, I'm Merope Gaunt. I'm nobody special really." She said with a gentle sigh.

The girl, for she was in fact a lot younger upon closer inspection of Jack's careful if slightly out of focus eyes, pushed his arm. Cue the clown. Jack tipped sideways and bobbled back upright as though his center of balance kept him upright no matter what happened. If he'd been from a more modern time he would have known his move was not unique. Weebles wobble but they don't fall down. Just like Jack.

"Stronger than she looks!" he chuckled and took a small, though it would seem large from an outside perspective, swig from the bottle. He hiccuped and winked at her. He'd had more reason to behave like a buffoon since getting here than he'd ever had in his life. Not even the time he'd been nearly captured by the East India Trading Company officials on the shores of Burma. Now that had been fun!

"If you're here, you're special. Depend on it," he said with a confident nod that knocked the hat off his head into her lap. "Ah sorry 'bout that. Has a mind of its own." As though the hat were a frisky pet that regularly had a tendency to run off and plunk itself on unsuspecting people.

When she pushed him over, she nearly got worried but he was being playful and came back up. His comment caused a further smile to reach her face, one of the rare circumstances where she had a full smile, even a laugh. Merope's tension was instantly released like smashing a damn and water running free again.

"...You think I'm special?" She asked, completely overwhelmed with his complimenting. When his hat fell into her lap, she smirked and her delicate fingers picked it up. Considering he was care free, she easily put it on top of her head. The hat was too big, she felt it go over her eyes a little and she tilted her head up to look at Jack.

"I like your hat."

When she smiled, he grinned back at her. "Now that's what I like to see. A lady smiling is one of the rarest treasures when one is a pirate. Most of them wrinkle their noses like this," he said and made a face at her as though he'd smelled something straight from a pig sty.

Yes, he thought she was special. There was no doubting it. Everyone he'd come across in this wretched place was special in some way or another. The little lady with the wings. The strange man with his male modeling. She had to be special but she'd not figured out she had the capacity for it yet. That was sad. He was special and he knew it. No one had to tell him. He was Captain Jack Sparrow, terror on the high seas. Plundering and pillaging. He was curious now just how she was special.

"You are. I'd put good money on it," he said and grinned as she put his hat on her head. "Suits you. You should join the crew of my ship the Black Pearl. We sail the seas and stir up as much trouble as we can. Are you especially good at anything as could be entertaining or helpful on a ship?"

Jack was all compliments, his words were a stroke to her and had he'd been someone she already knew? She'd likely not believe him at all. She tilted her head a little to the right when he wrinkled his nose, she'd never really done that to anyone so she mimicked him. "Not a nice face is it?" Her hands settled on the rim of his hat, playing with the fabric on it a little and trying to not let it sit too much on her head.

Special. You are.

One of the rare smiles moved on her face again,"A crew?" She didn't really understand what it meant at the time, but she nodded,"...I..can speak to snakes? I think I can do some magic, but I'm not sure anymore...but I can clean, sew and cook?" Merope was always used to hard labour and having it difficult, she'd never been given an easy road.

"Is it bad trouble?"
