Entry tags:!dropped, day 10, ianto jones, location: gym, nymphadora tonks, open

Who: Ianto Jones and OTA
What: Binding up hurts
Where: The remains of the gym
When: Round abouts 7 or 8 pm
Rating: TBD
Status: Open and In Progress

It had taken some time, but eventually Ianto ended up in the remains of the gym in the make shift triage, along with the rest of the walking (or not, as the case may be) wounded.  His arm had been splinted and bandaged neatly and his head looked at and eventually he was left alone on a cot.  There were too many hurt and not enough doctors, after all.  Jack, when he had gotten too antsy, was shoved gently but firmly towards the entrance.  He was the hero, after all.  It was his job to save the day.

So, Ianto did what he did best, which was generally, support.  He drifted from cot to cot, making certain that people were as comfortable as possible.  Doing this had the added benefit of keeping him awake, though he was near drooping with exhaustion.  By doing this, though, it meant that someone didn't have to wake him up every hour or so to make certain he was coherent.

Well, that and this helped to keep the terror at bay.  Especially when an aftershock rumbled through.  As gentle as they were (compared to the real temblor) Ianto's eyes still cast themselves upwards towards what was left of the roof.  Just in case it decided to come down upon their heads.

Tonks had decided that she was not a fan of earthquakes. That was decided when the earth first began to shake. They were frightening. Also frightening was the fact that she had been banged up, bruised, and cut and wasn't in St. Mungo's. As much as she sometimes disliked being there (which had been quite often in her youth and often enough when she got older) at least Mungo's was familiar. And so was the way that things healed.

It wasn't to say that magical hospitals were so magical that she would have been healed already. Wizards and witches had to wait and heal just like Muggles. But it was different, and this triage certainly was nothing like she knew. It was the first time since being here that her hair was some god-awful shade of brown. She hated that colour. But right now, foot set and bandaged and leg stretched straight along the cot, brown was rather how she felt.

She watched everyone who were capable (physically and/or mentally) of walking around do their thing, and even smiled a bit wanly at this person or that. But, for the most part, Tonks was quiet. Which was weird in and of itself. She looked up at the last aftershock, as did other people, and then looked over to the man passing by. "Wonder if this is how people in snowglobes feel like, when we shake things up." Well, if there were people in snowglobes.

Ianto would have to worry if any of them were fans of earthquakes. After this, he doubted anyone would ever enjoy having the ground shake for any reason at all. When the lady spoke, Ianto paused, then levered himself down to perch carefully on the edge of her camp bed. He offered a wan smile.

"I reckon it might be. I've got a few snowglobes at home. I don't think I'll be shaking them up again ever." Ianto offered out his unbandaged hand for a bit of a shake. "Ianto Jones. I'd say it was a pleasure to meet you, but the circumstances are far from pleasant. Do you need anything? Pain medication? I could go for a cuppa myself, but there's no tea." He was babbling a bit, but then he tended to do that when under pressure. Well. That or clam up.

"I'd murder a cuppa tea. And some chocolate frogs.." The last part was mused to herself after a moment. "Actually, any chocolate would do." It would help, at least.

Babbling Betty herself, Tonks stopped for a moment and took his hand, shaking it gingerly. Didn't want to go jostling the hurt arm, after all. "Tonks. I've seen your writing in the journals, yeah? You're the bloke with the hanky."

"Yes, the bloke with the hanky," he replied and took Tonk's hand in his own for a moment. "And I think we could all murder a cuppa. How're you holding up? I don't mind telling you that I'm about to jump off the deep end with all of this." Ianto smiled, though, not at all serious. Well. At the moment, at least.

She laughed and shook her head. "Same here, with deep end jumping. Though I think it might be more because of the earthquake than anything else. Never been through one and ain't too keen on going through one again." As she said that, Tonks was looking up. Half in defiance, as if daring the place to shake once more, and half in worry that it would take her up on that.

Eyes returning to Ianto, she smiled and scooted over on the cot. "Have a seat? Or should we go walking? I got a pair of crutches now."

"I went through one once," he confided and eased himself down on the cot with a bit of a nod of thanks. His entire body ached, though he didn't want to admit to it. "This one was much worse. I don't recall buildings actually falling over on me in the last one." They just shook around. And technically it wasn't an earthquake, either, but who was counting?

"You actually seem to be holding up fairly well, I don't mind telling you. Quite a few people in here are very demoralized. Can't say that I blame them."

"I don't blame 'em either, but doesn't do much good being a terrible gloomy gus, does it?" While understanding that people had to get out their negative emotions, Tonks had a tendency to keep hers under wraps. Of course, it wasn't always the best way to do things, but it was what it was. She swung her left foot, the good foot, back and forth absently, looking down at them idly. And shook her head then looked over with a curious smile.

"What other adventures have you been through? You're handling it all quite easy-peasy too." Which was decidedly a good thing.
