Entry tags:!complete, day 10, location: museum, remy lebeau, shannon rutherford

Who: Shannon and Remy
What: Gambit eventually makes his way back to the museum.
Where: The museum
When: 1826 - Day 10
Rating: PG13 - Just in case
Status: Complete

Gambit had left the museum just an hour and a half ago, having backed off when Sam had shown up to watch over Shannon. But the Cajun had stared a while at the Post Office, before walking around to look at the carnage of the town, then he'd stood and stared at the felled clock tower for a while. Eventually, he'd left it and had headed back to the museum, for the items he'd been planning to get in the first place. Sam had, for all intents and purposes, chased him off that first time. So he had never got the chance to explore the museum. He was going to go looking for the Doctor's jacket, the Doctor's journal, and a few of those paintings. Definitely a few of those paintings. Then he was going to get the Hell out of this place.

However, when he approached the museum, he was surprised to find that Shannon was still there, and with Jack Harkness, no less! Jack, though, after an easy greeting, had left to do things that needed to be done, and Gambit was once again left babysitting the injured girl. The aftershocks were still shaking the ground every now and then, so going inside wasn't a wise idea on anyone's part, so he avoided the steps leading up to the museum and came back over to Shannon to stand in front of her, hands pushed down onto the pockets of his jacket. He'd wear that thing the rest of his life. Really.

"You still look tire', Chere. How your side feelin'?" His smile was easy, as it always was, and he tilted his head to the side, hair falling into his face.

Smirking, Shannon nudged him back. "Yeah, mine either, come to think of it," she agreed. "That's a good point." She was actually kind of glad that Remy was trying to contradict her rather than pondering the possibility. That simple act somehow made her feel better. Her eyebrows arched dangerously high as he professed that all of his exes had tried to kill him and she wrinkled her nose, grinning in response when he asked if she wanted to hop on the bandwagon. "The trying to kill you bandwagon or the ex bandwagon?" she joked back. "Or both?"

With a shrug, Shannon looked away from him for a moment before turning her eyes back to him in time to catch and return his smile. "Oh yeah?" she asked. "You like the useless, injured types, then?" she teased. Shannon didn't actually expect an answer.

"Oh, believe me, I know," she agreed. Back in the real world, Shannon might not have thought twice about calling Gambit a freak. Now, she'd met a lot of people she'd never have given the time of day. Now, she'd met people who traveled through time and space. Who could die a thousand deaths and live to see another day. Who had claws hidden beneath their skin and came from being not-quite-crygenically frozen. Stoners and heroes and doctors; different times, different places, different professions. And most of them, she'd come to care about. So now, she would think twice before considering someone a freak. Thus, she said nothing of his comment. "We're all freaks," she said with a shrug. "So...I'm sure you have."

"'Paren'ly, you can' have one wit'ou' 'de o'ter, Chere. You gon' have to do bot' if you wan' one." The Cajun, it seemed, was always smiling. Always up beat. Even in this place. And she'd find that it wasn't going to change, over time. He'd always be like this, no matter how long they were here. He had his reasons for being that way, and it wasn't all a front. Some of it might have been.. but Gambit was genuinely enjoying this. It was sort of pathetic, in a way, that he enjoyed something like this. A bit strange, too, really.

"Oui. You all freaks." He agreed with a laugh. "I'm 'de only normal one here." Wasn't that the farthest thing from the truth? But still, it seemed like a good place for a little jab at Shannon, and for a laugh. He joked because it was an ice breaker, a tension reliever, and because.. well.. it was just who he was. The Cajun was a happy man. What made it odd, was that he didn't have any reason to be happy.
