Entry tags:!complete, day 10, location: museum, remy lebeau, shannon rutherford

Who: Shannon and Remy
What: Gambit eventually makes his way back to the museum.
Where: The museum
When: 1826 - Day 10
Rating: PG13 - Just in case
Status: Complete

Gambit had left the museum just an hour and a half ago, having backed off when Sam had shown up to watch over Shannon. But the Cajun had stared a while at the Post Office, before walking around to look at the carnage of the town, then he'd stood and stared at the felled clock tower for a while. Eventually, he'd left it and had headed back to the museum, for the items he'd been planning to get in the first place. Sam had, for all intents and purposes, chased him off that first time. So he had never got the chance to explore the museum. He was going to go looking for the Doctor's jacket, the Doctor's journal, and a few of those paintings. Definitely a few of those paintings. Then he was going to get the Hell out of this place.

However, when he approached the museum, he was surprised to find that Shannon was still there, and with Jack Harkness, no less! Jack, though, after an easy greeting, had left to do things that needed to be done, and Gambit was once again left babysitting the injured girl. The aftershocks were still shaking the ground every now and then, so going inside wasn't a wise idea on anyone's part, so he avoided the steps leading up to the museum and came back over to Shannon to stand in front of her, hands pushed down onto the pockets of his jacket. He'd wear that thing the rest of his life. Really.

"You still look tire', Chere. How your side feelin'?" His smile was easy, as it always was, and he tilted his head to the side, hair falling into his face.

Shannon shrugged slightly, wincing a little at the way the muscles in her shoulders complained in response to the movement. "I don't know. I mean, like I said, I don't really know much about Dean. I just...wouldn't have guessed he was the type, I suppose," she replied. Sam didn't seem the type...but then, she knew very little about Sam, as well, and suddenly that kind of bothered her. She wanted to know more about everyone and wanted them to know things about her. Nothing that would make her look bad, of course, but... Something so that if she was ever found dead in the rubble or in the woods or God only knew where else, people would be able to say that they knew her. Maybe someone could say that they loved her. Probably someone could say that they cared that she was gone.

"She's not less fortunate than me," Shannon replied, shaking her head. "She's playing the game better than I am. That's all. She plays dumb and the men eat it up. I used to do it, I'm just better than that now. I don't need to pretend I'm a moron for guys to find me attractive. She probably wouldn't, either, if she thought about it for half a second, but her head's too far in the damn clouds," she added.

Shannon looked up again and met Gambit's eyes. "When Sam comes back, maybe," she said with a shrug. "Or tomorrow. I'm too tired, Remy. I don't ever want to have to move again, right now, but maybe tomorrow. It'll hold until then, I'm sure," she said. Although, if Sam came back and insisted she go to the gym - and assured her that the doctors there didn't already have their hands full - then she would probably go.

"I like 'de game you playin' now, Chere." Gambit assured her with that same easy smile, before he lifted a hand to push back through his hair, arm muscle tensing as he did. It hurt. His whole body was stiff, and sitting still certainly wasn't helping in the least. "'De whole.. Sexy, confiden' one. 'De one where you play har' to get. I like a chall'nge." Of course, it was very hard to tell if he was being serious, or if he was kidding, thanks to the smile on his face. It neither confirmed nor denied a joke.. just was very assuring that he was enjoying himself, sitting here with her like this. She was good company. He wouldn't, however, stay forever. He had things to do.. Post Offices to stare at for hours on end. You know. He was a very busy Cajun.

"You more for'una'e 'den she is, Chere. You prettier, non? Better personal'ty. Funny." There it was. Funny. He'd been insisting that she was funny since earlier in the day. He liked her sense of humor, liked that she bantered back and forth with him and didn't take it all too seriously. Some of it was serious, of course, he was definitely interested.. but she knew that, and still didn't take any of his joking or advances too seriously. It was fun. It was attractive. And so was she.

"You jus' make sure you go. You don', an' you die, I gonna kick your ass, vous comprenez?" Of course, the red-head was grinning away, and lowered his eyes to watch as he plucked some grass off of the ground and held it between his fingertips. "Where you from origin'ly, Shan?" Shannon was too long to say for the lazy Cajun. Sorry.
