Entry tags:!complete, day 10, location: museum, remy lebeau, shannon rutherford

Who: Shannon and Remy
What: Gambit eventually makes his way back to the museum.
Where: The museum
When: 1826 - Day 10
Rating: PG13 - Just in case
Status: Complete

Gambit had left the museum just an hour and a half ago, having backed off when Sam had shown up to watch over Shannon. But the Cajun had stared a while at the Post Office, before walking around to look at the carnage of the town, then he'd stood and stared at the felled clock tower for a while. Eventually, he'd left it and had headed back to the museum, for the items he'd been planning to get in the first place. Sam had, for all intents and purposes, chased him off that first time. So he had never got the chance to explore the museum. He was going to go looking for the Doctor's jacket, the Doctor's journal, and a few of those paintings. Definitely a few of those paintings. Then he was going to get the Hell out of this place.

However, when he approached the museum, he was surprised to find that Shannon was still there, and with Jack Harkness, no less! Jack, though, after an easy greeting, had left to do things that needed to be done, and Gambit was once again left babysitting the injured girl. The aftershocks were still shaking the ground every now and then, so going inside wasn't a wise idea on anyone's part, so he avoided the steps leading up to the museum and came back over to Shannon to stand in front of her, hands pushed down onto the pockets of his jacket. He'd wear that thing the rest of his life. Really.

"You still look tire', Chere. How your side feelin'?" His smile was easy, as it always was, and he tilted his head to the side, hair falling into his face.

Nodding, Shannon took a bite of her half of the granola bar, chewing as she listened to his response. "Yeah, probably," she agreed upon Gambit's assessment that the Doctor would want the coat back. He hadn't seemed as attached to his coat as Jack was to his, but she'd want her things back if she wasn't wearing them already. It was just sort of a small comfort in a scary, fucked up place to have one's own possessions.

Shannon grinned and hummed a giggle at the response to her having shared her food with him. "Yeah, everything tastes like a gourmet meal when you haven't had shit to eat, non?" she asked with a wink. It was, she figured, probably the only reason she could still stomach SlimFast bars and fruit, by now, between this place and the Island.

Taking a drink of the water, Shannon listened to Gambit tick off names and injuries. Dean had to be the one trampled by deer, because Gambit had said Luna was with him. Her stomach turned with worry for him, but she hoped that Sam would find him. If he didn't, at least Shannon could say where he was and what sort of shape he was in, which was a plus.

"Watanuki?" she offered as a correction. Her heart sank again at the vague assessment. And then her stomach clenched and her eyes widened when he said someone died. "Who?" she asked reflexively before she could stop herself. She hated herself for what she was about to ask next, because it was horrible, she thought, to put one person above the rest. "Was he an Asian kid? About seventeen years old...?" she asked, already chewing her bottom lip and feeling her eyes fill with tears at the very idea that Domeki might have been the one who died.

Gambit's remark about the gym went ignored, for the time being.

In response to her question about the food, Gambit only cracked a grin and lifted his eyebrows. She was right. He could have eaten slugs and would have been pleased. No. Really. He had before. You ate just about anything when you were starving. Granola was definitely the best he'd had in this sort of situation. But when she corrected the name, he nodded in agreement. That was it. But who had died? "Don' know his name. But non, not Asian. Had a bear'. Dark hair. Maybe t'ir'y? Only got to see a glimpse, didn' stick 'roun' lon'. 'Dey wan' me to be helpful. Take care of people. I did my par'." With that statement, he was closing his eyes, relaxing there in the dusty grass for the first time all day.

"Where you gon' sleep tonigh', Chere?" A question he'd begun asking people whenever he ran into them. He hadn't checked the state of all of the buildings yet, but he wasn't sure many of them would be very livable. Not so soon afterwards, anyway. But the Cajun was nothing if not resourceful, and he'd be able to make himself a home anywhere in this place. He could sleep anywhere. It came with experience. Surely Shannon would know about that.
