Day 10: In Town - 1:15pm
Who: OTA
What: Seven point five
When: 1:15pm - 5:00pm
Where: In Town
Rating: TBA
Status: Active

The sun was shining high in the sky and a gentle breeze stroked the leaves of the trees, making them, along with the severed stub of rope on the clock face from the day previous sway lazily. It was quiet. Perhaps it was too quiet, for the lack of birds chirping or insects buzzing.

All in all, the day was one of the most pleasant as of yet for the bulk of the involuntary residents of Vas Captio, save, of course, the heat. Maybe it was a bit too hot to be entirely comfortable.

It started small, as most things do. The dirt roads of Vas captio, while gravelly and, in their own humble way, as downtrodden as the buildings between one another they led, were unaffected by the quiet breeze of the hot, summery day. When the brief rumble rustled through the Glass Cage, pebbles danced on dirt, clacking together gently as they did so.

A settling fell over the roads, if just for a brief moment in time, before the earthquake rocked things back into action. Roads lining the exterior of the town were interrupted with the crashing down of thick tree branches. In some places, in fact, whole trees fell to their rest out of the forest and onto the ground.

In some places, the earth seemed to crack; long splintering fissures in the ground split off into gnarled branch-like lines, some even separating inches apart, leaving small, gapes in between that had the potential, at least, to be stepped in or trap an unfortunate passerby by the ankle.

Vas Captio was still, again, and silent once more.

Granny was walking back to what she referred to as "my lodgings" when it happened. Without as much as a warning the ground started shaking violently, uprooting trees and sending a storm of debris flying through the air.
The old witch could only watch, powerless, as the fury of the nature tore apart the town. Branches fell in the street all around her and a large crack opened in the ground only a few inches from her feet, but Granny stood still in the middle of all that chaos, managing to remain standing only thanks to her iron self-control.

Only when the tremors stopped she did realize that she'd been shaking as well. She clenched her fists hard to make it stop.
It probably wasn't evident to any onlooker, but Granny Weatherwax was severely shocked. She'd known ever since waking up that something was wrong and had tried to guess what it was. She could have never predicted something like that. The animals nearby hadn't been expecting it either. It was not natural, but then again from what she'd seen there was nothing natural in this town.

Her head ached terribly. She brought one hand to her temples to massage them and even after seeing the red stains on her fingers it took her some time to realize that she'd been bleeding from a scratch on her forehead.
She looked around, noticing the large branch that had hit her. She was going daft if she hadn't even seen that coming!
"This wouldn't have happened if I had my hat," she muttered, clenching to the little self-control that she had left.

Sarah had been running back from the carnival to see what the damage was in town when she realized she had ran past an old woman. Are they really getting that messed up?Sarah thought when she stopped running and returned back to the woman. She had left her wet trench coat with her journal and pen in a safe place for her to return to, her forest green tank and black pants were still soaking wet from the tunnel of love. She had rung out her hair as best she could and pulled it back into a pony tail as she ran.

"I do not think you're hat could have protected you from that." Sarah said when she was finally within the woman's hearing range. "Are you ok?" she asked going to that first before any other questions.

Granny looked up sharply to the woman who had addressed her. This one, too, was wearing pants. Pants! She could see her legs!
The old witch would have usually given the shameless woman a look of disdain and moved away, but this was an emergency. Therefore she simply looked at the woman with disdain and shrugged in a way that indicated that, in her experience, a witch's hat protected from almost everything known to mankind including death and taxes.

"O' course I'm fine," she remarked, firmly ignoring the scratch in her forehead. "What about you?"
She didn't believe that a woman going around without a dress could really be fine, but Granny could point her in the direction of the dress shop. Could have, at any rate, she corrected herself mentally as she realized that by now the building was probably a pile of debris.
