Who: Sam Winchester & Andy Gallagher
What: Remembering Cold Oak
Where: Starting at the church and heading towards the clocktower
When: Day 9, Morning
Rating: R
Status: Active

Sam had only been drunk a handful of times in his entire life and somehow between the few times he always forgot just how horrible the morning after a night of binge drinking was.  He'd been sick earlier, though he was grateful that he'd been able to make it out of the museum and out of the sight of any of it's inhabitants, especially one, before he emptied the contents of his stomach on an unsuspecting bush around the back of the building. He couldn't really think of anything that would've been more embarrassing than having Shannon witness that, except maybe having Dean see it.

He also found himself grateful for the fact that he hadn't yet consumed all of his tic-tacs from his welcome package so that he could put them to good use now. He'd made his way back into the museum and while he normally wouldn't have touched Shannon's supplies without first asking permission he'd taken the liberty of helping himself to her supply of Aleve and a bottle of water. She probably wouldn’t even know, considering she was still sleeping in one of the rooms with Ianto and Jack, though he wasn't entirely sure if she'd care or not. He wasn't sure what had happened between them, but she was definitely acting as if he'd done something wrong. Something that was most clearly evidenced by the fact that she'd decided to sleep with someone else the night before without so much as telling him she was going to do so. Not that she necessarily owed him an explanation, he'd just forgotten momentarily that she didn't. Which was maybe the most disturbing thing of all.

A quick look in the journals had given him an excuse to get out of the museum and had him headed towards the church to meet up with Andy. The pretty day was absolutely wasted on him as he battled the raging headache that remained untouched by the Aleve and squinted against the morning light. Even the sounds of the birds annoyed him as he made the trek from the museum to the church, his shoulders slightly more slouched against the sunshine than they normally would've been. He had finished the water bottle by the time he reached the church, his thoughts moving to his father and his brother as he surveyed the lonely graveyard. By the time he reached the church door there was a part of him that had wished he knew some place where he could curl up alone and go back to sleep and then start the day over hangover free. 'Course wishful thinking hadn't exactly gotten him anywhere before, he didn't exactly have a lot of faith in it now.

He reached up and knocked, the sharp sound of his knuckles on the door seeming to echo. Then, realizing that Andy wasn't exactly the most mobile person at the moment and Luna was out he pushed the door open. "Andy?" He called out, but not as loudly as he normally might've, as he searched the open space for a sign of his friend. "Hey, it's me, Sam."

I feel like I'm listening to my own inner commentary, man, you have no idea, Andy thought at Sam's response. He shook his head and shoved his hand back into his pocket. "Maybe she did," he agreed. "Or maybe she's worried you did. Or, you know, maybe she's trying to play it safe. There were clones running around yesterday. Maybe she just took up with someone she knew didn't have one, just to be on the safe side. She'll probably come back around tonight, bro. If she doesn't, I say just ask her what the deal is. You don't have to make a big thing of it. Just...I dunno, make it like you were worried when she didn't show up and you just wanna make sure she's okay and shit," he offered as a solution.

Really, Andy could sympathize. He hadn't wanted Luna to feel obligated to stay with him just because they'd been the first person each other had met on that first day they'd gotten to this place, but...he did want her to stay. She'd already slipped through his fingers, but Sam still had a chance to grab on again, from the sounds of things. Andy was trying very hard not to be jealous and annoyed at that very fact. "Well, yeah, she kinda does, man," Andy pointed out, frowning. "You guys buddied up. It's kind of her job to keep you fuckin' updated, bro, ya know? If you're supposed to be watching each other's backs and all... I mean, shit, what if you just walked out on her without so much as a word? She'd be pissed, right? Since you were supposed to be watching out for her and apparently keeping her warm. So, yeah, she kinda fuckin' does have to tell you if she's movin' on so that you can, if that's the case. And if she's not, so that you don't keep yourself up all night worrying. Not that I'd know what that feels like, or anything," he added with a bitter bit of sarcasm tacked onto the latter statement.

Brow furrowing even further, Andy tried really hard not to roll his eyes. "Yeah, I did. She pretty much said she's fine, so...whatever," he replied. At Sam's addition that she seemed upset about his trying to take back kissing her, Andy bristled. "Dude, what the fuck ever, she wasn't even trying to have it when I tried to explain that what I said had nothing to do with me wanting to take back that fucking kiss - although, now I wish I could. It was just a misunderstanding but she couldn't be bothered to let me explain what I meant, so whatever. And, for the record, she didn't seem too freaked out when your fucking brother showed up to crash my place, so that's kind of a cop out. Fuck her, I don't have time to beg on my hands and knees for shit like that in a place like this. Game over. I'm done."

Then, Andy's expression softened slightly and he sighed. He was taking out his anger and hurt over Luna on Sam and his friend and that wasn't fair. "Sorry. Look man, clearly you like Shannon. Like her, I mean. So, the question is...do you want her to come back because you don't wanna be alone or do you want her to come back because you want her?" he asked. "Cause...it kinda matters which it is when it comes to any kind of advice I could try to impart. If, you know, you want it. Otherwise I can just shut up and let you complain, just to get it off your chest."

Sam pointed out the less-than-invisible things Andy had done and he looked back out in front of himself. "Martha's still missing. With every day that goes by, I start to think that maybe that little shit Ryuzaki isn't wrong about her being dead. So, good for me, I saved her the first time and I couldn't the second. Whole lot of use I am, dude." He didn't feel like agreeing with Sam, at this point, even if he felt like yeah, he had been kind of useful. "And I didn't really help that much with the wolves, man. Sarah could've done it." It was true, even if maybe he realized after the fact that he shouldn't have said so. The last part of Sam's statement, though, was rewarded with an incredulous look. "Yeah? You sound like a Lifetime movie," he replied with a laugh. After a short pause, he gave Sam a lopsided grin. "I'm glad you're here, too, man," he admitted.

"Nah, I'm good," he replied when Sam asked if he wanted anything in the thrift shop. "I mean, if you actually feel like lookin', I wouldn't hate it if you found a pair of shorts that might fit me. It's fuckin' hot in this place today. But other than that, nah. No worries, just get yourself some shades. It'll help the headache. You've totally got a headache, I can see it every time you look up from the road. I know the feeling, too. I'd offer you somethin' for it, but all I've got is Vicodin and I think that might maybe be overkill," he joked. "I'll just hang out here. Sit down for a minute. This is the furthest I've walked since the day with the cougar," he added.

Sam's shoulders hunched forward in a small shrug as he followed Andy's train of thought. It made sense if she'd wanted to get away because of the clones, except she'd ended up sleeping with two of the people in the museum who had known clones. So it had to be either that she'd gotten tired of coming back to their room to sleep or she thought he had. Though he had no idea how she could've gotten that idea. "Yeah," he said after mulling over Andy's words for a minute. "Maybe you're right."

Sam glanced downwards again as Andy started speaking, finding himself enjoying the fact that Andy sounded a little put out on his behalf. He wanted to think that he was right and if Sam had just walked out without so much as a word Shannon would've been upset. He wasn't sure though. She was resourceful. If she wasn't upset she'd just find someone else to look out for her. If she didn't worry it meant that it hadn't really meant anything at all, except for a convenient arrangement. He looked up when Andy got to the end of that and indicated that he didn't know what it was like to stay up all night worrying. He sighed, realizing that all of this might be a little too close to home for Andy at the moment.

Sam's mouth curved into a deep frown as Andy went off about Luna. To Sam at least, it seemed like Andy wouldn't be as upset if he still didn't have feelings for their blonde friend. This was exactly what he wanted to avoid if it turned out Shannon was avoiding him either because she was ready to move on or because she just didn't feel the same way. He didn't want to be angry or bitter about it. If there was nothing there, it was best if he just dropped the idea altogether.

Andy's question caught him off guard and for a moment he didn't say anything. He wasn't afraid of being alone. Sure he wished Dean was there - the Dean from his timeline - because he missed him. He'd given up any hope of the current Dean standing still long enough to really talk to. He'd made it pretty clear that he liked working alone. Something that Sam was still getting used to. He wasn't used to Dean not wanting him around. Still, he could deal with it. If he was honest with himself it was that he wanted her to come back because he wanted her there. So he could make sure nothing happened to her, so he could take care of her hand when it got cut, so he could listen to her secrets and entrust his in return, so at the end of the night he could wrap his arm around her and pretend that it made her feel as safe as it made him feel.

"It's not the being alone," Sam said, carefully. "I want her there." Saying it outloud made him feel relieved for half a second before the weight on his shoulders settled around him again. Andy was right. He liked her. When had that ever ended well for any of the girls he'd liked? Really liked. If he was smart he'd be trying to push her away, rather than trying to get her back.

"We don't know she's dead," Sam said, quickly. He didn't want to think about the good doctor being another victim of this place. He sighed. "Andy, give yourself a break. You haven't exactly been in a position to look out for anyone. That's not your fault." He shook his head. "And don't sell yourself short either. Sarah wouldn't have been able to do it without your help."

"Ha, yeah," Sam said, shooting Andy a small grin when he said he sounded like a Lifetime movie. He moved his mouth into a thoughtful frown. "I wonder if Valerie Bertinelli is available to play you?"

Sam glanced down at Andy's jeans and nodded. "Yeah, no problem. What size are you?" He could guess, but he didn't think something too big or too small would come into much use." He gave a small embarrassed smile when Andy pointed out that it was evident he had a headache. At this point he wasn't against stopping at the pharmacy on the way back to grab some more Aleve. His brow furrowed. "You sure you're okay?"
