Who: Sam Winchester & Andy Gallagher
What: Remembering Cold Oak
Where: Starting at the church and heading towards the clocktower
When: Day 9, Morning
Rating: R
Status: Active

Sam had only been drunk a handful of times in his entire life and somehow between the few times he always forgot just how horrible the morning after a night of binge drinking was.  He'd been sick earlier, though he was grateful that he'd been able to make it out of the museum and out of the sight of any of it's inhabitants, especially one, before he emptied the contents of his stomach on an unsuspecting bush around the back of the building. He couldn't really think of anything that would've been more embarrassing than having Shannon witness that, except maybe having Dean see it.

He also found himself grateful for the fact that he hadn't yet consumed all of his tic-tacs from his welcome package so that he could put them to good use now. He'd made his way back into the museum and while he normally wouldn't have touched Shannon's supplies without first asking permission he'd taken the liberty of helping himself to her supply of Aleve and a bottle of water. She probably wouldn’t even know, considering she was still sleeping in one of the rooms with Ianto and Jack, though he wasn't entirely sure if she'd care or not. He wasn't sure what had happened between them, but she was definitely acting as if he'd done something wrong. Something that was most clearly evidenced by the fact that she'd decided to sleep with someone else the night before without so much as telling him she was going to do so. Not that she necessarily owed him an explanation, he'd just forgotten momentarily that she didn't. Which was maybe the most disturbing thing of all.

A quick look in the journals had given him an excuse to get out of the museum and had him headed towards the church to meet up with Andy. The pretty day was absolutely wasted on him as he battled the raging headache that remained untouched by the Aleve and squinted against the morning light. Even the sounds of the birds annoyed him as he made the trek from the museum to the church, his shoulders slightly more slouched against the sunshine than they normally would've been. He had finished the water bottle by the time he reached the church, his thoughts moving to his father and his brother as he surveyed the lonely graveyard. By the time he reached the church door there was a part of him that had wished he knew some place where he could curl up alone and go back to sleep and then start the day over hangover free. 'Course wishful thinking hadn't exactly gotten him anywhere before, he didn't exactly have a lot of faith in it now.

He reached up and knocked, the sharp sound of his knuckles on the door seeming to echo. Then, realizing that Andy wasn't exactly the most mobile person at the moment and Luna was out he pushed the door open. "Andy?" He called out, but not as loudly as he normally might've, as he searched the open space for a sign of his friend. "Hey, it's me, Sam."

Sam's brow furrowed at Andy's question. Did it not work out? he wasn't sure. He'd thought it was working pretty well for both of them. Not just with the body heat, but something else too. He liked coming back to the museum and knowing that Shannon was going to be there. He liked knowing that there was someone who would miss him if he disappeared, even as much as it hurt to admit the same for her. Not because missing her was a bad thing, just that it meant she'd be gone. He gave Andy a sideways glance and shrugged. "I don't know. I guess that might be it. Maybe she just got tired of our..." He wanted to say arrangement, but he thought it sounded too presumptuous. Like it involved something more than just spooning for body heat. "Maybe she just got tired of it," he finished.

Sam stopped when Andy did, sympathy clearly stamped across his face as Andy listed off the reasons why Luna might possibly be avoiding him. He wanted to tell him that it was probably none of those things. That maybe she's just gotten caught up talking with her old friend Tonks or had to help someone else, but the truth was he didn't know if that was true. And saying it when it wasn't would just be cruel. Especially when he knew how much Andy cared for her, even if he'd been acting in the journals like he could turn those feelings off. He opened his mouth to respond, but then Andy started in again and Sam found himself surprised at how his friend's thoughts seemed to line up pretty close to his own.

Maybe it wasn't normal for her to sleep with him every night and then just stop without so much as an explanation. Maybe he did owe it to himself to at least make sure she was okay and clear the air if he'd unintentionally done something to upset her. Andy started walking again and after a second or two, Sam followed. "I just don't want to seem like I'm expecting her to sleep with...beside me every night," Sam said, feeling a little weird about letting Andy in on some of his more private worries. A part of him felt like he should be keeping all of this to himself and figuring it out on his own. "We're just friends. There's no rule that we have to. Or that she has to tell me anything. I just thought..." He ran a hand through his head. "I don't know, I think part of the reason is that I'm reading too much into everything. Maybe she just didn't want to be alone. Maybe she's found a better sleeping arrangement." He shrugged. "If I bring it up and it's nothing, then it's going to look like I thought it was something." Which, he couldn't help but think, he would be more than a little disappointed about.

He took a deep breath. "Have you asked Luna if she's okay?" He paused. "I'm not trying to get in your business, Andy, but she did seem genuinely upset when she thought you were trying to take back kissing her. And if anyone deals differently than everyone else, it'd be Luna. Maybe she's just freaking out too."

"You're not invisible," Sam said, shaking his head. "If it wasn't for you we wouldn't have had wolf to eat, or apples. And you saved Martha. You've made a difference here and you didn't need a mask or the ability to go without sleep to do it. People are glad you're here. I know I am."

Sam stopped, feeling a little awkward. This was definitely what Dean would've called chick flick moment territory and he fought the urge to walk a little faster.

"Thanks," he said, giving Andy one last apologetic look before looking up at the shop ahead. He glanced upwards and sighed. "You know, I think I am going to see if they've got some sunglasses. Do you need anything?"
