Who: Sam Winchester & Andy Gallagher
What: Remembering Cold Oak
Where: Starting at the church and heading towards the clocktower
When: Day 9, Morning
Rating: R
Status: Active

Sam had only been drunk a handful of times in his entire life and somehow between the few times he always forgot just how horrible the morning after a night of binge drinking was.  He'd been sick earlier, though he was grateful that he'd been able to make it out of the museum and out of the sight of any of it's inhabitants, especially one, before he emptied the contents of his stomach on an unsuspecting bush around the back of the building. He couldn't really think of anything that would've been more embarrassing than having Shannon witness that, except maybe having Dean see it.

He also found himself grateful for the fact that he hadn't yet consumed all of his tic-tacs from his welcome package so that he could put them to good use now. He'd made his way back into the museum and while he normally wouldn't have touched Shannon's supplies without first asking permission he'd taken the liberty of helping himself to her supply of Aleve and a bottle of water. She probably wouldn’t even know, considering she was still sleeping in one of the rooms with Ianto and Jack, though he wasn't entirely sure if she'd care or not. He wasn't sure what had happened between them, but she was definitely acting as if he'd done something wrong. Something that was most clearly evidenced by the fact that she'd decided to sleep with someone else the night before without so much as telling him she was going to do so. Not that she necessarily owed him an explanation, he'd just forgotten momentarily that she didn't. Which was maybe the most disturbing thing of all.

A quick look in the journals had given him an excuse to get out of the museum and had him headed towards the church to meet up with Andy. The pretty day was absolutely wasted on him as he battled the raging headache that remained untouched by the Aleve and squinted against the morning light. Even the sounds of the birds annoyed him as he made the trek from the museum to the church, his shoulders slightly more slouched against the sunshine than they normally would've been. He had finished the water bottle by the time he reached the church, his thoughts moving to his father and his brother as he surveyed the lonely graveyard. By the time he reached the church door there was a part of him that had wished he knew some place where he could curl up alone and go back to sleep and then start the day over hangover free. 'Course wishful thinking hadn't exactly gotten him anywhere before, he didn't exactly have a lot of faith in it now.

He reached up and knocked, the sharp sound of his knuckles on the door seeming to echo. Then, realizing that Andy wasn't exactly the most mobile person at the moment and Luna was out he pushed the door open. "Andy?" He called out, but not as loudly as he normally might've, as he searched the open space for a sign of his friend. "Hey, it's me, Sam."

"Might as well, man, it's on the way," Andy replied with a shrug, shielding his eyes with one hand as he looked back over at Sam. He would've thought Sam's response would be a little more enthusiastic, all things considered, but he wasn't gonna fault the guy.

Rolling his eyes, Andy shook his head. "You have every right to complain, dude," he said with a shrug. "Maybe not to her, but I ain't gonna tell her," he laughed. "You let it fester and you're just gonna hate her eventually, believe me, man. I speak from experience." He paused. "Not Luna, if that's what you're thinking," he was quick to add, looking down at the ground as he walked, stuffing his hands in his pockets as well.

He wondered what exactly Sam meant by the fact that he was confused, but he didn't want to pry, really, even if he could use some information on the subject if he wanted to impart any sort of advice. Yeah right, that was a laugh. Andrew Gallagher giving girl advice to anyone... "Like Luna and I were," he said more than asked, looking back up at Sam briefly, still squinting against the sunlight. He nodded once and looked back at the dirt road, understanding, if that was the case. But, if that was the case, it would stand to reason Sam had found himself attached to the girl and that, Andy understood all too well.

Raising his eyebrows, Andy looked up and out in front of him, shaking his head. He wasn't going to tell Sam that he'd volunteered, sort of, for the Night Watch, save that he wasn't planning on making any of their actual rounds. He wouldn't have been very good on foot anyway. Maybe part of it was that, with Luna gone, Andy felt like he needed someone to protect and the idea of having someone paired with him via the Night Watch meant maybe he could be useful to someone again. "Man, you tryin' to get me assassinated right at the beginning of my term?" he quipped. "Shit, that's a quick way to take over my throne, dude; if you want it, just say so," he laughed.

His eyes moved back to rest on Sam when he spoke again and he extracted one hand from his pocket to shield his eyes again when he looked up. "Me? Why...?" he asked, confused. And then it clicked and Andy's brow furrowed slightly as he nodded. "Oh. Yeah, I get it. Whatever you want, dude, I guess. If I can help," he replied with a shrug.

Sam wanted him to do it, Andy supposed, because he wasn't sure people would go along with the rationing of it. And if they didn't, Andy could make sure they would follow the 'rules' anyway. It was a form of exploitation, he guessed, but Sam had a point. Something like that should be rationed and if not everyone was going to be on board, someone had to take care of crowd control. Who better than a freak?

Sam tried to read Andy's expression when he indicated that he wasn't talking about Luna, but he wasn't sure what he saw there. It was true that Sam thought he could talk to, if not complain, to Andy and it would stay between them. Besides, to his knowledge, Andy hadn't even met Shannon.

"Yeah," Sam said, licking dry lips. "Like you and Luna." He wondered how he could explain their arrangement without making it sound like something it clearly wasn't. "She asked me to stay with her on the second day and I have been. We've sort of been trying to keep track of who all is here, though other people have started taking roll calls now. We used to sleep in shifts too, to try to make sure neither of us were taken by surprise in the middle of the night. Though, that didn't exactly work out." He cleared his throat. "We've also been sharing body heat...at night."

He kept his eyes focused on the ground. "So I guess you could say we're kind of close. Or you know, as close as you can be in this place. But lately it seems like she's avoiding me." He paused realizing how he might have unintentionally rubbed dirt in Andy's own wound. After all, wasn't that what he thought Luna was doing to him? What she might actually be doing, considering she hadn't returned the prior night? Sam sighed and shrugged. "Maybe it's just going around."

When Andy asked if he was trying to get him assassinated Sam laughed and shook his head. "Dude, you couldn't pay me enough to be mayor of this place. Though that would be pretty Machiavellian of me." He shrugged. "I think the idea of a Night Watch is a good one, but I don't like the idea of people with powers setting themselves up over everyone else. I mean, I understand that they can offer protection, but there's just something about all of it that bothers me. What if they decide someone or something is dangerous, what can everyone else do to stop them from taking care of it?"

Sam swallowed, a guilty look crossing his face as Andy's expression changed. He really should've asked in a different way. He was letting the fact that he felt like crap get the better of him. It wasn't just any favor he was asking from Andy. He didn't even know if using the power at all was a good thing. Ava had said it had been like switches flipping. What was to say that Andy using his mind control wouldn't start the same process.

"I know it's asking a lot," Sam said, slowly. "I just can't really trust anyone else and I don't want to have to fight anyone over food. That's probably what they want us to do. Turn on each other, or get greedy or selfish. I just figured this would give you something to do, since you wanted to help out, and would also be the least violent way of dealing with people who might not be willing to share."
