Who: Bob and Ripley
What: Bob brings pants
Where: Nar the Barn
When: Early Morning, Day 9
Rating: PG.

Status: Active

Bob had left the Not Quick Stop with a feeling of abrupt failure. He certainly didn't think he was stupid, and the reason he knew he wasn't was that he had managed to walk away from his nemesis the pot-trap-cooler with all of his appendages. That motherfucking cooler. He never wanted to think about it again. Scratch that - he wanted to think about it again so that the fucking thing might be fucking open and shit. Yeah, he wanted the cooler fucking open.

He'd looked at his journal and saw somebody needed fucking pants. They must have been fucking new and some shit. It was a long fucking walk from the Not-Quick-Stop to the fucking barn. He hoped he wasn't going to get fucking ambushed or something.

Having stopped at the Thrift shop, Bob grabbed a pair of yellow sweat pants that he guessed were about as one-size-fits-all as he was going to get. Slinging them over his shoulder he meandered around the town and eventually found hmself at the edge of the forest.

Bob would have said 'hello,' except he didn't fucking like to talk. So, he banged on a nearby tree with a stick he found. That way, if it was some asshole who wanted to fucking kick his ass he wouldn't be all that obvious about what he was up to. Oh yeah, and he could beat them with the stick.

Ripley had done a quick walk-around of the ... barn? ... when she got there, and then curled up on the rather stinky couches to check out the book-thing again. Seeing new entries past where she'd seen them the first time, she'd decided to write in it.

Got a few answers, most of them cryptic as hell, which was annoying, but then someone offered to bring her pants, and she breathed a sigh of relief. If she'd had to, she would have gone looking for pants herself, current state of dress be damned, but it hadn't been her first choice.

There was some wierd-sounding banging outside, so she went to the door and peeked out. There was a guy there, a bit on the heavy-set side, with a beard, and something yellow slung over one shoulder.

"You the one that offered to bring pants?" She asked, coming all the way out of the barn.

Bob turned abruptly hearing a woman's voice coming from the barn. He knew the fucking barn pretty well being that he slept there until Jay and he took over the fucking Not-Quick Stop.

Seeing the woman Bob's brows raised. It wasn't that the people here weren't adults... It's just that she seemed more of an adult than anybody else he'd met. Well, except that guy who only went by fucking Doctor - Bob thought he was probably fucking old and shit, too. And it wasn't that she looked particularly old - she just seemed, well, more fucking mature and shit.

Throwing the stick aside, Bob reached across and pulled the pants from his shoulder. Holding them out for her inspection her gave her a friendly smile. Look ma, I got pants! that smile said.

Well, that and 'hello.'

Ok, so the guy was either mute ... or Brett reincarnated. Either way, it didn't much fuss Ripley, as she walked over and took the pants.

"Thanks a lot. I appreciate it." She told him, pulling them on right then and there. They were a touch on the loose side, but she could definitely deal with that. "I'dve got some on my own, but I didn't have the faintest idea where to /start/. I don't even know where I am ... though from what I read in the book, nobody does. Which makes me feel a little less of an idiot. And I'm Ripley, in case you missed it in the book."

Bob smiled as she took the pants. Everyone needed pants, so this was a worthwhile trip and shit.

To her thanks he nodded, sticking his hands in his pockets and thumbing the cigs and lighter. Pulling out a smoke he lit it and set to quenching his desire for nicotine.

"Bob," he said, pulling out his journal. Opening it to the page with the map he tapped on the barn and then the thrift shop. He hoped she caught his drift.

"Nice to meet you." Ripley said. She couldn't prevent a slightly sad, reminiscient smile when he wordlessly showed her a map in the book that she hadn't seen yet and pointed two places out.

Definitely Brett reincarnated.

"You Are Here, this way to the clothes store, huh?" She said, taking a close look at the map. "Thanks again. You remind me of someone I used to work with. He wasn't much of a talker, either."

Bob nodded, catching a bit of something at the tail end of her friendly enough greeting. Dude, he hoped she wasn't freaking out. He wasn't good with freaked out people.

Giving the thumbs up when she understood what he was trying to say he tucked his journal back into his pocket. She'd have one of her own, right?

When she said he reminded her of someone else he shrugged. Sounded like a pretty chill dude if you asked Bob.

Ripley was most definitely NOT freaking out. Brett dying wasn't one of her favorite memories was all.

So /completely/ unnecessary.

"Well, I really appreciate you stopping by with the pants." She told Bob. "Now I can actually go check out the town." She blew out a sigh. "Dammit, I just hope Newt and Hicks didn't get dragged into this place." Bishop, she wasn't even going to think about. He was ... tolerable ... for an android, but he had no /legs/ thanks to the queen's attack, and she doubted anyone here could do anything about that if he HAD gotten dropped here somewhere. "They've both had more than enough bad luck recently." Getting kidnapped by or acid-sprayed by xenomorphs wasn't /anyone's/ idea of a good time.
