Hey You, Hey You, Finally You Get it. The World Ain't Fair, Eat You if You Let It (active)
Who: Rorschach, Merope, and Doc Lexie
What: Merope's infection is getting out of control, Rorschach is fulfilling "partner's duty," and Doc Lexie isn't feeling great but is the only one who can help them.
When: Around 10:00 AM, Day 9
Where: Starting at the clocktower, and then the gym
Rating: PG-13 for medical stuff. :)
Status: Active

Rorschach hurried back to the clock tower, cursing softly. He had hoped, like Merope, that a shower would clear up the infection, but clearly things didn't work that way. Now, she was just as badly off, and possibly worse, and he knew that he had to get her back to the gym to see the female doctor called Lexie.

He was in great shape, so getting back and climbing the winding stairs on the inside quickly were not a problem for the masked hero. Entering the little room he shared with Merope and ignoring the body hanging from the clock face in the already sweltering heat (Rorschach was sweating under his coat), he knocked twice and then entered without waiting for a reply. "Are ready to go?"

It turned out that the doctor actually was in, and that she was prepared to help, as Rorschach had heard. Good; he hadn't been misinformed. He carried Merope towards the table Lexie indicated, nodding briskly to the woman and growling her name to acknowledge her.

When she mentioned privacy, Rorschach frowned under his mask, glancing around to see who she might be talking about. Who was she talking to? He started to help pulling the curtains, enclosing himself with Lexie and Merope, assuming that was what she meant. "Of course. Would not want to compromise privacy of partner," he said, still inside the curtains.

Merope breathed in and out silently, not really feeling up to be talkative to anyone at the moment. When Rorschach moved her to the table, she moved her arms back to support her weight. Using her legs, she shifted so she could lay back on the table so she didn't have to feel the pain or pressure on her lower abdomen.

Tilting her head a little, she watched Rorschach move around and she thought of laughing. The action caused her to smirk a little, her delicate fingers touching her pale lips.

Merope didn't really care for him to leave, it never really mattered to her. She was so used to not having privacy when she lived with her family that this was actually quite private for her.

It was kind of strange for Lexie to have a female patient who might actually fathom being comfortable with Rorschach here in this situation.

"Alright, so I heard news of an infection - something following pregnancy, yeah? Can you tell me about your pain?" She asked quietly. She could tell the girl was in a substantial amount of pain by the way she moved - Lexie just needed to know where and how bad.

"And then I'm just going to need to take a quick look, alright?"

It wasn't that Rorschach didn't want Merope to have privacy; he just wasn't aware that he applied.

"Yes. Most likely infection resulting from childbirth," Rorschach said with great authority, as if he knew the first thing about either. Rorschach also noticed that Merope's movements were a bit too cautious and slow to be comfortable, exactly, but he had thought that she always moved that way.

"All right. Can take quick look. Won't stop you," Rorschach assured Lexie, as if she'd been talking to him rather than Merope.

Again, he took a hold of the situation and Rorschach spoke for her as if Lexie had spoken to him instead. The whole situation was kind of funny to her, she could barely keep herself from laughing and gave a light giggle. She groaned lightly from pain which stopped her from smiling very much.

"...The other doctor said I had a rip from birth, but she said she would fix it when she returned with supplies and never did." She frowned, moving her hand to her lower abdomen,"It hurts to put any pressure here and it's difficult to sit..." Reaching over, she took Rorschach's hand for whatever strength he could provide non-verbally.

Lexie took the moment to drape a blanket over Merope's middle, guiding her into a comfortable position slowly. She genuinely hoped that Rorschach would not start to peer over her shoulder because at that point she would immediately stop and refer this odd couple to Doctor House. This entire situation was in all honesty just a bit too odd for the shell shocked Doctor.

Taking her time with the examination, Lexie was careful and taking quiet notice of the level of tearing. It was a level 2 tear, and since it had been greater than 24 hours it had already started healing it herself. There was really nothing she could do short of being a plastic surgeon to attempt recreating what had originally been there - and this was not the place for plastic surgery.

"Well, there are two very important things you need to do Merope; first you're going to need to take a bath in salt water twice daily to speed up the healing of your tissue. It's going to take time; but, my trying to sew you is only going to do more harm than good at this point. Your body knows what it's doing, so we're just going to help it, OK?"

Turning her attention to Rorschach she pulled out her journal and ripped out a page. "I need you to get to the Pharmacy and find this. I know they have it, I saw it when I was looking for ketamine for Andy," she quickly scribbled down the prescription: Cleocin plus Garamycin in quite legible script and included dosing. "Two pills, three times a day. Morning, noon and night. You're going to need to eat, or it will make you feel ill." Lexie was looking quite serious, and that was because she was.

"It's going to take some time for your body to fight this infection since it's gone on so long," Lexie volunteered, "You should be better in about a week though. The pain will turn into discomfort and eventually you'll be back to the way you were before."

Merope sure liked to hold hands, Rorschach mused to himself as he allowed her to take his.

He listened carefully to all of Lexie's instructions, looking at Merope and glancing occasionally at the infected area. It wasn't with perverted fascination; more like a desire to be informed about the state of his partner. He could do everything Lexie requested, including getting the medications. He wasn't going to shirk his "partner's duty," after all.

"Understand. Is anything else?"

Merope remained mostly silent during the examination, her eyes didn't move much. For the moment, she was allowing the two to talk and took great pleasure in knowing that she would get better. The whole situation had her worried beyon real reasoning, she thought that she might even die if not for the two of them.

As his hand held onto hers, her palm felt much colder in comparison but his own was hot. Rorschach had always been like a comforting heater, or maybe she just liked comfort when it came from him.
