Day Eight: clone!Jack and OTA
Who: clone!Jack and OTA
What: clone!Jack is awake and ready for fun
When: Morning
Where: The Library
Rating: TBD
Status: Active

The morning was bright and beautiful when a new Jack opened his eyes. Stretched out between two stacks of books he was in exactly the place they had said he would be when he woke up. It felt good to stretch and he did it long and a little noisily. He couldn't not groan in pleasure as all of his muscles streeeetched and the circulation increased everywhere in his body. He sat up then and stretched again as he looked around to see what else he could see. As far as he could tell he was in a special collections section of the library. Full of large volumes behind glass cases. It was also where the back door was located.

The not quite Jack got to his feet and patted his chest with both hands. He took in a deep breath of air and let it out with a big smile and a sigh. "Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day. I've got a wonderful feeling everything's going my way!" His sing-song voice was a perfect baritone and he liked to hear it himself. So he continued to sing as he walked out the back door of the library to see if he could find someone to talk to or visit. Maybe he would even find Ianto! Then he could have coffee and a shag. Even though there was no coffee.

Jenny wasn't sure just how she had managed to get so turned around. Maybe it was because she was walking with her face in the book. That would do it. It had happened a lot when she was a child and a teenager too. She would get so involved in getting something down on paper that she would just drift away wherever the wind took her. She had been writing a particularly trenchant vignette about little twin girls lost in a boat, tossed on the salty sea. It was some of her best work and she wasn't sure why she felt so inspired other than it having something to do with the dire need to escape this place and her budding friendship with Shannon.

Of course, she had been pissy when she'd checked the journals and saw all the stupid commotion. She hadn't been trying to sleep at all but rather wanted some time to herself now that she felt less like things were out of control now that she could write. So she set off from the theater and now she was where?

Looking around, she saw a building that did not look familiar at all. A tall, darkly handsome man was striding away from it looking extremely pleased with himself. She wasn't sure she wanted to know what the fuck he had just been up to but she was lost now, she was sure of it.

"Excuse me," she called out, cocking her head with a sweet smile. "Can you please tell me what building this is? I need to get back to the theater."

If it was possible for his eyes to light up any more than they already had he wasn't sure but when the not quite Jack saw the little dark haired girl walking toward him he fairly beamed. Here was someone new! Someone he could talk to and he didn't have to ask for a visit first because she was already talking to him. He picked up speed and half ran toward her.

"Hi!" He stopped in front of her with his hands on his hips and his shoulders back. He knew he looked big and grand and perfect. He was Captain Jack Harkness and everyone loved Captain Jack. "How are you today? You're lost? I am sorry to hear that. This is the library and you can come inside if you want. It's warmer in there."

His words ran together quickly and he had to stop for a breath afterward. It was a lot of effort to smile and talk and breathe. He would get the hang of it though. He was confident. He could never fail!

Jenny nearly dropped her writing book and pen in the snow when the man started galloping toward her. Fumbling to put them away in her mohair bolero, she put her hands up defensively, almost afraid he was going to plow right into her.

"Whoa, what the fuck?" she asked, backing away a couple steps. He was larger than life and radiating a huge amount of crazy as far as Jenny could tell. Who ran at people like a big fucking golden retriever and stood like he belonged on a bottle of Captain Morgan? And then he was off rambling and she wanted to take a few more steps back from him but there was a large fallen tree in her way. Fuck! The only way away from him was by him now. He had practically cornered her.

"No, I don't want to go inside. I want to go back to the theater, please. Can you at least point me in the right direction?" She fought to keep her voice under control. She was both angry and just a bit scared that she had made the biggest mistake walking around outside with no one to protect her from nutjobs like this guy seemed to be.

Jean had been walking for a very long time, despite Locke's insistence that he stay right the hell where he was and not go out in 'that weather'. Jean didn't trust the tentative maps, and he wanted to see the confines of their supposed glass prison for himself. Know thy enemy. So he had been traipsing about for quite some time now, trying to assess the lay of the land, taking down notes every now and again when he found a building or some other memorable landmark.

He was just about to mark down something else when he heard the singing. It was self-assured, in-tune, and perhaps even a bit giddy, and it belonged to a man. Who, evidently, thought everything was going his way. Jean's brows lifted, and then he shrugged. Who was he to argue?

"Is it?" He muttered to himself, tapping the writing utensil against his teeth thoughtfully.

Almost-Jack looked very insulted when the girl cursed at him. She didn't sound like a very nice person but she was super pretty. He wanted to play with her hair and give her kisses. He knew that as soon as she let him kiss her that she would like him so much she would never want to leave. Only that might be a problem if Ianto came over for a visit. Oh what to do? So much love and so little time!

He was just noticing a guy walking from another direction when the girl repeated that she wanted to go to the theater. He was very disappointed so he smiled at the man instead. "Hi! Are you coming to visit me? I'm Captain Jack Harkness but she doesn't like me very much. I'm really nice though I promise! Do you want to come inside with me?"

The not quite Jack made a face at the girl with his nose scrunched and his tongue sticking out. She was going to miss out because there was someone better coming along to have fun with. Then he waved at the other man and said "Hi!" again.

There was really something with this guy. He was either on some serious medication or the elevator wasn't going to the top level. Or any level really. Jenny looked at him in dismay as he continued to chatter, now with another man who happened to be walking by at the moment. She wasn't sure if she should call out for help to the other man or if she was safer with the idiot. She'd never seen either one of them before today and had no idea whether or not the newcomer was Rorschach or worse, the insider.

Swallowing hard, knowing that she was completely trapped and at the mercy of the big oaf who was now making faces at her like a child, Jenny tried to shrink into herself. Maybe if he got so interested in the new guy, she could slip away unnoticed by either one of them. The last thing she wanted was to be in another situation with men who wanted to overpower her. She'd had enough of that in her lifetime and even being trapped in this bubble was a welcome reprieve in comparison.

Jenny shifted on her feet as she was standing in the snow and her feet were beginning to get extremely cold. It was a bad move because her heels backed into the fallen tree branch behind her and she started to fall with a loud scream. "Ohhhh noooo!!!" She was a tumble of arms and legs crashing into the sharp tree branches and onto her ass in the snow. Dazed, she lay there breathing hard. Her body hurt everywhere now and she was sure she had been skewered in at least one arm by a spikey branch. It was all she could do not to cry.

Oh! So this man was Captain Jack Harkness. Now Jean could attach a face to the name he'd been given.
The very-much-Jean looked at the not-quite-Jack and offered up a peaceable smile, thinking that the man's maturity level wasn't quite up to scratch but that his attitude was friendly enough- if a bit bizarre.

"Hello, Captain Jack Harkness. I'm Jerome de Ferra, and I was just passing through, but I might consider stopping in should you have anything warm to drink." He chafed his still-freezing ears a bit with his hands.

And then the unfortunate girl the almost-Jack had been speaking to stumbled backward and fell over with a loud cry, and Jean, being a gentleman (if a bastard) rushed to her aid immediately. "Ma'am! Are you alright? Don't move if you think you might be injured. I can carry you inside, if need be."

"Oh no." He looked sad when Jerome asked him for something warm to drink. "There is no electricity here so the microwave is permanently on the fritz. No warm drinks, I'm afraid. Does that mean you won't come in and visit? I have a big secret I could show you!"

He was going to turn around and give the new man a handshake but the dark-haired girl was making so much noise. He looked back at her but she wasn't there. "What happened? Hey!" There she was on the ground in the snow and there was some blood on the whiteness around her. "Why did you do that?"

His voice went a little high pitched because it was not at all a happy thing to have her interrupt his invitation to a new visitor with her clumsiness. What a stupid girl! This was not fun and the almost Jack was pouting now, even as he surveyed the girl on the ground. He bent over her and made a move to heft her up because he was going to have to put her over his shoulder and take her inside the library. "Come on. Up you go, you stupid little girl."

Jay had made a point of going back to the library frequently in search of more skin mags from the olden days. Which was why he was walking through all that snow, expecting to just pick some more up and quickly take them back to the gas station. However when he got near the library he saw a bunch of people standing outside, all people he didn't know. And he wasn't expecting them.

"The fuck's goin' on here, a book signing or some shit?" He asked just as he saw the two dudes trying to help this chick get up off the snow. "She drunk?" He asked the one closest to him.

Jenny groaned and rolled onto her back in the snow. There was no fucking way in hell she was letting that big oaf help her up so she kicked at him and threw a few punches. "Back off you prick! You're the reason I'm down in here in the first place. Fucking perv." She looked over at her arm and the blood that was seeping from the place the stick had scratched her but thankfully had not pierced through as she had feared.

Getting to her feet slowly, trying to avoid falling over again and the not-helpful hands of the jackass who had boxed her into the mess in the first place, Jenny brushed the snow from her clothes and straightened her hair. With a dark look at the third man, she grumbled, "No, I am not drunk. Someone get this asshole away from me." She said, indicating the one who had said his name was Captain Jack Harkness. "He tried to attack me!"

Elecktriscity? Mikroowayve? What were those? Could no one find a method of starting a fire manually in order to heat things? Was there no alcohol? In his experience, alcohol needed no warming in order to create the same effect on a body as a hot drink. Still, despite his confusion, Jean tried hard not to show it. The man spoke of these things so effortlessly, and so obviously, that he had a feeling he would be giving something away he’d rather not if he let his ignorance show.

“No, no,” he hastened to reassure Jack, “it’s still a bit chilly for my poor old bones. I’d like to come in, if you’ll have me. Oh? I am always intrigued by a good secre—shite.” He cursed as he watched the girl flail about in the snow and snag herself on a branch, still angrily lashing out at anyone who attempted to help her up, including himself. Jean had no idea if her vinegar and harsh words were directed at him, but he was all too used to being called a ‘big oaf’, and though he had rather thick skin, the words still hurt when directed at him by a member of the fairer sex. He had no way of knowing that her anger was mostly aimed toward the not-Jack.

“Madam? Are you—”

And then Jay had shown up, another man he had no familiarity with, and Jean turned toward him, scratching his head in bewilderment. “I haven’t the foggiest idea, I’m afraid. The lady doesn’t seem to desire our help, however, and I’ve a feeling we should respect her wishes…a few moments in the cold and she’ll be wishing to head in where it’s warm soon enough, I’d expect. I do wish she’d let me do something about that scrape,” he said, sighing, “but ah, well. Never use force on a woman.” He gave Jay a sympathetic look, shared universally between males that crossed every language, nation and century, which clearly stated: women. I will never understand them. Best not to try. With that, he turned and shook hands belatedly with the almost-Jack. “Was the invitation still on offer?” He asked politely. “Would you like to join us?” He offered up to the other two.
